  1. He definately hasn't had a career worthy of any awards.
  2. After we got bad mouthed all year for playing defense we deserve this. Probably the only thing me and illiniguy will agree on all year. But yes we do. We both agree Ryan Braun's a tool.

  4. Michigan State better bring its A game vs. Robert Morris. You can't win in the tourney scoring in the 60's. ESPNs experts.
  5. I wonder if Digger Phelps will even acknowledge the fact Who the frick is Digger Phelps?
  6. I don't think that's even close to a done deal. His dad says he wants to go to KU. He also says he wants to play w his brother. But his brother doesn't want to sit out a year, which he'd have to do if he transferred. Depending on the hire, they may stay at Memphis. Its very strange. If I was Stephenson I would commit now. Before I'm stuck at a crap school. Agreed. Although I suppose Kentucky might have a slot for him now, assuming Xavier doesn't end up there. And from KU's p.o.v., I'm a bird in the hand kind of guy. Gimme Lance and hope his "attitude problems" are overblown. I don't want another season with Morningstar at the 3. Yeah I would take Lance in a heartbeat. Rush was an "attitude" problem too. That worked out ok for you.

  8. I know I've ragged on Deng a lot this year (as I should have) but it'd be nice if he could come back just to give us an additional body to spread some minutes around in the playoffs. He got paid then is always hurt. A bit different than his Dukie friend Carlos Boozer who I wish would've stayed hurt before he gets paid. Although his 3-17 and 1-10 performances have really helped the team down the stretch. Especially when you couple it with awful defense.
  9. Snyder's time was all when Trent Johnson was coaching there, I'm pretty sure. Oh, I thought that Snyder was there for first year of Fox. I could be wrong though. After actually looking it up, Snyder's last year was Johnson's last year. Also, Snyder is currently playing in China. Stay in school kids. Eh, he made his money. You can always go back to college. Just always have a good plan on how to save your money.

  11. I don't get why coaches want to take the jobs around Duke and UNC. You're never going to be able to recruit with the big boys. I get the money, but I am sure he made pretty good money at Nevada. duke and unc don't recruit regionally. carolina's starting five are from california, pennsylvania, missouri, new york and maryland. duke's starting five are from oregon, pennsylvania, and illinois, plus any two of new jersey, new jersey, maryland and tennessee. I know, but if there is a stud in the region, they are players. Plus Georgia Tech's Paul Hewitt is an amazing recruiter. Wake Forrest gets pretty good players. Cal is now more entrenched in the area. Billy Donovan is nearby.

I get the money, but I am sure he made pretty good money at Nevada. Fox was making 500K at Nevada, 1.3M at Georgia. Ideally, he'd wait out til he could grab a Pac-10 job, but I think it's tough to pass that up unless he sees another Fazekas on the horizon who could make him a hot commodity again. Guy's a solid coach, but he hasn't seemed that in demand the past couple years.(Missed the last 2 NCAAs.) On the flip side, he had a really young team this year, and with Utah St. losing Wilkinson, they'll be the favorite in the WAC next year, and probably the year after that. Though if you say he should wait another 2 years til he's in demand and during that time, he missed out on 1.6M. I think if I'm him, I take the job, but as an objective observer it's easy to not take ego into account, and look at being smart enough to take the big payday before something goes wrong at the mid-major job that'll bury you forever. You screw up at Georgia at his age, you could be fired go back to a mid-major for 5 years and be ready for a new Big 6 job by the age of 50. ETA: Course, none of this took into account his comfort level in Reno. Yeah, didn't he also have a really good guard before with Fazekus one year, a kid that was a pro? I guess with the way the makret is right now it makes sense to cash in. I just think that you are going to struggle at Georgia. Besides Tubby, who has done well there that hasn't had to cheat to win?

  14. Ah, I thought when you were the smartest person alive sometimes you were able to branch out into other fields. My bad.
  15. for what purpose? I don't know the # just went from 36 to 52 buses. Shocking you're pretty much an expert on everything.
  16. Oh is this the I was a big time athlete speech from Illiniguy? How was basketball at D3 bumbleF University? There's a big difference between making an honest assessment of how somebody fits into a system, say a pocket QB committed to an an option system, and coming in and telling a kid, I don't care that you committed to the program, get your ass out of here, and take a nice mandated year off from college ball while you're at I'm just gonna be a spaz like you and assume they're all going to decommitt. Or realize that there's already a player who will have used 4 years of a scholarship by then. Or realize there's a slight difference between being oversigned by 1 2 years ahead of time and attempting to run off 3-4 kids right away to bring kids with you that committeed to another school already. Like it or not, when a kid signs with a school, he's not expecting to be trying out for the team every summer. If it's so widely accepted among kids and coaches, why do teams ever have less than 13 on scholly? These kids who are so understanding and actually appreciative of being run off a team, should love the chance to go get a scholarship for a year and then get the privilege of sitting out for a season before moving on to Hofstra. Again it is just simply a fact, a new coach is going to tell the players if they fit or not. I also did not play d3 sports. I was definately on scholarship.
  17. who cares what the coaches would say? even jamelle cornley was on the local radio and said their big goal was to make the ncaa tourney, and he was disappointed that they were left out. but overall, who had a more noticeable march/early april, illinois or penn st? illinois wrong everyone's wrong but you, per usual.

I'm happier with what we did. The NIT would have been a waste of a year. yes losing to western kentucky in the first round sure made this season a shining success for the illini. let me know how the "ncaa tournament participant" banner looks in the rafters at assembly hall. Yes because our season was definately defined in that one game. It will look way better than an NIT championship one that you'll hang.

  20. you really are trying to argue that winning the nit is better than making the big dance? not one coach in america would buy that.
  21. I thought Cal pretty much came right and said this in his first interview. He said something to the extent if the guys can't play he will not give them a free ride. Makes sense. UK hired him to win and in order to do that he has to have the guys that can play. Yeah, coaches often will encourage a player to transfer or decommit if that player doesn't fit the new coach's system. I know Bruce Pearl and Lane Kiffin did that when they got to Tennessee. Well if those 2 aren't the moral standards to hold a coach up to, I don't know who is. It is NOT COMMON to run players off when you come to a new school. and you know this because you've been an athlete at a school when a change is made? thought so. it very much is a common practice. one that the kids even don't disprove of. it's way better than the coach not telling you anything, then bam your minutes are gone. cal is actually just letting the kids know in advance that they won't play many minutes in his system. it isn't even really putting them down so much as saying they aren't the right type of athelte for what he wants to do. do you also realize that illlinois is one over right now on scholarships. the one over would be jereme richmond, crandall head, or myers leonard. i imagine you want weber to do the honorable thing and tell jereme we can't take him as he would have to run someone off in order to get the scholly? like it or not schollys are one year renewable.
  22. Didn't the Astros not sign any of their top 5 picks from a draft a couple of years ago? Seems pretty scary to be a fan of that team, once the group there gets older they are done.

  24. They are going with the Yankees to win our division.
