  1. 1998 gave a lot to be excited about. Sosa hititng 66 homers. Wood coming up and being dominant.
  2. Hmm, why didn't I think of that? ](*,) I ask it all seriousness. It's not like crappy Cubs teams are a surprise to anyone who is a Cubs fan and over the age of, say, 15. Yes, this team obviously had huge expectations and the Cubs being bad is never going to not "hurt," but the repeated bemoaning that being a fan of this team is so horrible just seems pretty hollow when people could easily just stop being an active fan if they wanted to. It honesly seems like some prefer being able to complain about the team and players doing poorly and wallowing in self-pity. It's so much harder to quit being a fan than you make it sound. There have been times when I've been absolutely disgusted by this team and I've made it a week or even two, but the same thing inevitably happens. I'll be flipping channels and stumble on the game; the addiction begins all over again. I just wish I could stop following them so closely that their level of play affects my mood. So you're addicted to...what? Unless you're very young, you've experienced far more bad Cubs teams than bad. Are you just luckily tuning in when they have a winning streak or an amazing game? If you've only been following for 10 years you had 6 good years and 4 bad. 1998, 2001, 2003, 2004, 2007, 2008 were all good 1999, 2000, 2002, 2006 were bad. 2005 was just kinda bleh.
  3. I get the feeling that Hendry's a Cardinal's fan.
  4. You really have faith they won't pick a toolsy outfielder or college reliever though?
  5. I'm so afraid that Jim will trade Vitters. If Hendry is dumb enough to trade Vitters, Castro, Jackson etc to try and salvage this season then I'll be the first one in front of Wrigley with a Fire Jim Hendry sign. That type of move would be a ploy to save his job and would have nothing to do with helping the team. I agree, but he's gonna make a move to respond to DeRosa. I hope it isn't Vitters plus a guy for a month and a half of Holliday.
  6. I hope not, I really want Hendry having no part of trying to sell. We'll just get back a bunch of Cesar Izturis type player.
  7. Which guy should we sell? Remembering that pretty much everyguy has a no trade clause.
  8. Harry would be passed out drunk by now Harry would be ecstatic with the talent on this team. I take it you forget the 90's?
  9. Because Theriot sucks. He's not a major league SS. and Sori's not a very good leftfielder and Fuku's not really a second baseman and right now we really don't have a third baseman and our right fielders awful Hard to believe we are as bad as we are. Way to use the 140 million Jim.
  10. I really wish they would do away with interleague play.
  11. He's not the only one in this lineup who's worthless. No, but hes the only one who the entire offseason was worked around aquiring. Need we recall the offseason that was built around acquiring Soriano? Well done, Carlos. Back then, there was the money to afford it and didnt have to move other parts around. Keep in mind, it was the same off season we got DeRosa, Lilly, and that other starting pitcher. We also made the playoffs.
  12. He's not the only one in this lineup who's worthless. True, but he also can't field, can't run, and is a joke.
  13. We could have had Dunn and DeRosa. Nice throw Milton.
  14. Awesome at bat. Thank you so much for this piece of trash Jimbo.
  15. Milton is about the worst guy to have up in this spot.
  16. Just one time this year I'd like to wake up to us actually having a freaking lead.
  17. actually he has 35 home runs now. Bonds is in trouble.
  18. Good god. can we please get a mulligan from October 1, 2008? Please?
  19. What I don't get is why Lou can't let a former starter finish that inning off before using a guy who started the year in the minor leagues. [expletive].
