  1. Given the source, I can't tell if this is real or not. The percentage of real articles that are virtually indistinguishable from satire has to have octupled over the past decade. http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2016/aug/26/herky-the-hawks-grimace-too-aggressive-for-fragile/ http://twt-thumbs.washtimes.com/media/image/2014/09/13/a9a2915dc8786a235f0f6a7067009015_c0-421-4885-3269_s885x516.jpg?f090558e7385a284c0af880cc05a373bf8447153
  2. Why was Zastrysny drafted in the 2nd round? He was seemingly just an average college pitcher.
  3. They'll be fine. Dak is the real deal. He would have won a Heisman if he had played for a real contender. He was a steal in the 4th round. Really? His passing is not pretty. It's passable (no pun intended) I like his game a lot. I really think he'll succeed.

  5. Hoping they draft Chad Kelly this year. He'd do great in the dome.
  6. Given where Lynn and Dawson were drafted, neither would have won the Golden Spikes. However, Dawson had a killer season in the minors the year before he was called up and I suspect he might have won MILB POY. Lynn had a standout season in the minors as well. So I bet that they would have had 3 of the 4.
  7. Saw a post elsewhere that said that if KB wins MVP, it'll most certainly be the only time anyone has ever won Golden Spikes, MILB Player of the Year, ROY, and MVP in 4 consecutive seasons. Pretty neat.
  8. All big programs are dirty.
  9. http://sports.yahoo.com/news/sources-ncaas-ole-miss-investigation-expands-beyond-laremy-tunsil-124229650.html NCAA is out of control. Someone is really butthurt that they spent 3 years investigating Ole Miss and all they could come up with was $16,000 of impermissible benefits, such as keeping a loaner car too long or a current player staying on a coach's couch for a night. They found no evidence of pay for play or money exchanging hands between staff and players/recruits. I'm not saying that didn't happen, because of course that kind of thing happens at every program. However, this new tactic is pretty twisted. I have never seen an athlete granted immunity to snitch on a program other than the one he signed with. That has to give schools concern. Now the NCAA is essentially saying that some violations are more important than others, that "getting" school X is more important than school Y. That a player could say "An Ole Miss booster gave me $100 and I took it but signed with Auburn for a new Escalade" and the NCAA would give Ole Miss a level 1 for the hundy and take no action at all against Auburn.
  10. Padres screwing up Kyle's beautiful ERA. Boooo
  11. This stud http://sportsmockery.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/FullSizeRender4-481x470.jpg v. This scrub, who is so bad his own last name fled in horror from the back of his jersey http://mediadownloads.mlb.com/mlbam/2016/08/07/images/mlbf_1019154583_th_43.jpg
  12. I didn't make it. If I had, you'd think it was an actual photo of Jake in a Union Army uniform. :good: I figured it would be a shirtless Stonewall Jake-son giving Grant a Stone Cold Stunner. Fortunately for Grant, he never had the displeasure of having to fight against Jackson. Hmmm, a Civil War general Royal Rumble. Little twerps like Sheridan and McClellan are thrown over the ropes rather quickly. At 300+ pounds, Winfield Scott is the Yokozuna of the bunch and requires multiple men to throw him over. Custer is the Ric Flair of the crew. He chest slaps JEB Stuart, screams wooooo, and then throws him over the rope. Yankee George Thomas is the biggest man left at around 6'3, but he is dispatched when two six-footers, Longstreet and Stonewall Jackson, double up on him and lift him over the rope. While Lee distracts the ref, Longstreet swings a chair at Grant, but misses and hits Jackson. Dazed and wobbling, Jackson is clotheslined by Grant, sending him over. Custer jumps on Longstreet's back, but Longstreet is able to hold onto Custer as he falls over the rope and carries Custer out of the ring along with him. Meanwhile, Bobby Lee has Grant in the camel-clutch, choking the life out of him, when suddenly.... "Mah god, King! That's Hail to the Chief! That's Lincoln's music!!" The President himself, the undefeated wrestler and member of the Wrestling Hall of Fame, comes running down the aisle and slides into the ring and drop kicks Lee off Grant. Together, Lincoln and Grant lift the Gray Fox over their heads and pitch him out of the ring. But alas, the match is not over, it's a Royal Rumble and only one man can be left standing. As the two colleagues circle each other slowly, a crazed fan throws a beer can into the ring striking Lincoln in the back of the head, knocking him out. In a feat that rivals Hogan bodyslamming Andre the Giant, 5'8 Grant musters every ounce of strength he has and lifts the enormous Lincoln over the ropes. Fin. Oh, and FWIW, the roided up Stonewall Jackson monument at Manassas has nothing on Jake.

  16. I blame CT for the shenanigans that occurred during yesterday's fiasco. We'll get back on track with OMC at the helm of the gam threads.
  17. Was talking to a buddy of mine this morning who believes Andruw Jones should be in the HOF damn near based on his defense alone. He has the highest dWAR of any outfielder ever and it's not even close. His career dWAR is 24.1. The next closest outfielder is Mays at 18.1 and the next closest after that is Devon White with 16.2. That's an extreme gap between Jones and his colleagues. My feeling is that yes, in a vacuum, Jones should be a HOFer: Best defensive outfielder ever, 10 Gold Gloves, 6 All-Star appearances, 434 HR, etc. However, as we know, HOF voting isn't done in a vacuum and I never got the sense that Jones was all that popular among baseball fans or amongst his peers. I think the prevailing idea about his career is that he was lazy and that his career was actually a letdown given his skills.
  18. Meh, a precedent has been set, so they'll get off with a warning due to the fact that they sweat during the summers while the rest of us sit in the air conditioning.
  19. U.S. in distant second in medal count at Rio. Whatever makes you feel better, Europe. http://www.medaltracker.eu
  20. Twice, isn't it? Why would anyone want to kill someone twice? Forgot to film it the first time.
