I wonder if OMC knew he was a sox fan? He's not. He DOES have a Cubs hat, as well as every other MLB team basically, hah. I've got a picture to prove it, gotta find it somewhere and scan it. I'm VERY VERY VERY Happy that the 49er's got Willis. He hates playing in the cold and told me he doesn't want to play anywhere where it's really cold, so I'm pretty sure he was referring to Buffalo. Good for him. 49er's are getting better by the moment. didnt you say yesterday, that you would be happy with him coming to my team denver, tho? I would have been happy with him going to Denver. Ya, it's cold, but it ain't Buffalo. Plus Denver is a great organization. So, I'm just glad he didn't go to the Bills.

RHIAB has some sort of weird vendetta against Theriot. He prefers a guy with a .100 avg and .125 obp as opposed to one with a .339 avg and a .362 obp Theriot isn't BAD at SS. He was obviously good enough to play it through college and halfway through the minors. People act like he's never played there before and I can't figure it out.

Apparently people prefer a giant black hole in the lineup who is a good defensive player as opposed to a bright spot in the lineup who is an adequate defensive player. I'd prefer not to have an automatic out.

Are you serious??? Dude, didn't I show you earlier that Cedeno was a much worse SS in the minors than Theriot was? I think all you showed was that Cedeno had a lower e/pg (insert eye roll). Shutup punk. I only did that because he brought up the number of games Theriot played SS and the number of errors he made.

I've seen Cedeno make that play a few times this year-that kind of ball is when he usually does his little spin move. Ok yah, I agree Cedeno has more range, but Theriot's defense isn't nearly the liability people are making it out to be.

Awesome :-) I can't wait to see what he does in the NFL. I just hope he's not in the NFC south, or the NFC for that matter. I don't want him to kill Reggie Bush.

There's more to defense than errors??? Are you serious? Holy crap, I never knew. :roll: He brought up the discussion about Theriot's number of errors in such and such amount of games, I'm merely refuting it using the same logic he employed. Don't pee your pants, IMB.

Cedeno played shortstop in 293 games and had 102 errors in the minors. Izturis played 431 games at SS and had 83 errors in the minors. That's an error every 2.8 games for Cedeno. Izturis had an error every 5.2 games. Theriot had an error every 4.7 games. I don't see the defensive disparity that you speak of. Not in the least bit. Certainly not enough to brand him a defensive liability that forces us to negate his bat.

There is a thing as "timely" hitting, but it's not something that can be predicted or expected. The problem with this team for years is not a lack of timely hitting, it's not getting enough guys on base in front of the guys who are consistently good hitters. I never said it should be predicted or expected (esp not with the Cubs). I merely put it as one of the key factors that you need to win a game. Starting pitching, timely hitting, and bullpen. If you get any 2 of those during a game, you'll likely be in a good position to win that game. Lately the Cubs have only been getting one of those three at a time. What many are arguing is that there really isn't a distinction between timely hitting and plain ol' hitting. The problem solves itself when people are getting on base in a more consistent manner. Fair enough
