Rob Dibble lives down there, and I heard him on XM a while back saying that one of the things that could truly help the Devil Rays would be to build a stadium IN Tampa Bay, instead of out in St. Petersburg.
I think alot of it has to do with how conservative the game of baseball is to change. Obviously baseball's belligerence to change can be a bad thing (segregation), but one of the game's most enduring qualities is how conservative it is and how it is basically an antiquated game being played in modern times. But I think you're right, it probably is a non-issue.
I think this is an overreaction. I don't guess it hurts anything, but I dunno. Next thing we know they are going to have face guards on the batters' helmets like little leaguers.
Saints should be able to make the playoffs. Left to play: Arizona Rams Atlanta Carolina Tampa Bay Texans Eagles Bears If they win 5 of those, which I think they should, they'd be 9-7, which will probably be good enough to win that crappy division.
Brees had 398, 3 TD's now, halfway through the 3rd. We are beginning to beat down on the Jags...I wish Payton would pull a Bellichek and just let them run it up.
It's going to have to continue if they want to win. Saints defense is being completely stupid allowing a 60+yd bomb for a TD and a Jones-Drew return for a TD. If it weren't for that, it would be a Saints blowout.
I'm a rabid fan of old school baseball and have seen footage of all types of players, including some rare footage of Honus Wagner and those types. But the only place I've ever seen any footage at all of Gibson is a few frames from his Baseball Hall of Fame video: http://www.baseballhalloffame.org/hofers/detail.jsp?playerId=492568
