  1. Pretty sure that if Lester goes two more PA's without getting on base, he'll statistically have the worst OBP in the history of the game (min. 50 PA's)
  2. Well then next year maybe they'll get it back to normal and in the future tell the Rose Bowl to suck it up and play whenever CFB tells them to. People on the East Coast are the ones who won't like it. New Years night people are out appeasing the females in their lives who want to go out to eat and then to parties and what not. That's why New Years Day for football is perfect since you can reasonably get away with just being a bum all day sitting in a recliner and watching football. Why? The day that they would get the most viewers is New Year's Day. Having 4 meaningful CFB games back to back to back to back would be obscenely popular. It would be an epic tradition to start. Also (and this is their primary objective afterall), think of how much money they would get from all of the "my dick don't work no more" commercials that would be shown that day. Are you concerned about the fact that it would add an extra week onto the CFB season? Who cares?
  3. http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/12999779/college-football-playoff-semifinals-start-4-pm-et-new-year-eve What the hell are they doing that for? Last year was absolutely perfect with both games on New Year's Day and it set rating records. Why would they mess with such a good thing? It seems like last year was the template for CFB owning New Year's Day. I contend that when they go to 4 quarterfinal games (and they will eventually) that it would be a college football-gasm if they played all 4 games on New Year's Day. Start at noon on the East Coast and end it with a game on the West Coast. For example, for all of us central time zone people, you could have an Orange Bowl at noon, Sugar Bowl at 3, Fiesta Bowl at 6, and Rose Bowl at 9. 12 solid hours of playoff college football. Ratings would be ridiculous.
  4. So Lance Lynn threw 118 pitches last night and 117 were fastballs. Literally. Apparently there were long stretches where Molina wasn't even putting down signs. The Cardinals won the game 1-0 with only 4 hits, one of which was by Lynn. I hate them so very much.
  5. Walter Johnson interviewed by Baseball Magazine about the best hitters he faced: Also like this picture of Johnson's grips http://i.imgur.com/GzmsOkq.jpg
  6. Wait nvm Miggy is up. Bases clearing double forthcoming
  7. Here comes a triple that only scores two
  8. Stellar AB's so far. Can't wait to see what 7-9 do.
  9. Fred, if I may ask, did you vote for William McKinley or William Jennings Bryan in '96? :)
  10. Hey, my mediocre Rebels took 2 of 3 from them in Nashville. I'm sure y'all can too. Although it's gonna suck having to start the series down a game because I doubt you will beat Carson Fulmer on Friday night. He's pretty ridiculous. Only reason he isn't the no.1 pick this year is because his mechanics make potential suitors want to puke. You're pretty much guaranteed to have to pay for a TJ surgery if you draft him. But I'm all in for Illinois now! So many of you online Cubs friends of mine are fans of theirs so I'm hoping yall at least advance to Omaha.
  11. I mean he's been pretty bad for 5 years (even though he's nevertheless gotten an inexplicable amount of playing time) and he's 41. Would you be surprised if he was? Of course it wouldn't surprise me. Just asking. I only know like two Marlins so I have no idea where he is in the pecking order. Yellich-Ozuna-Stanton is like the best OF in baseball I only knew one of those dudes before tonight.

  13. Why is Ichiro not in the lineup? Is he a bench warmer these days?
  14. I suspect one day that Bryant will overtake Drew Brees as my #1 man crush
  15. With Hammel's ability to hit marginally well this is definitely our best offensive lineup.
  16. Was looking at Pete Rose's stats just now and you'd be hard pressed to invent a better utility player. - Switch Hitter - 939 games at 1st - 628 at 2nd - 634 at 3rd - 673 in LF - 589 in RF - 73 in CF Over 500 games played at 5 different positions. That's obscene.
  17. Holy crap Zobrist had a 5.6 WAR last year!? Wow
  18. The sooner he can get his mojo back and we can get rid of Herrera or Baxter or some other crappy bench player the better.
