  1. Probably. The only other choice was Kotsay through a trade, but I think Oakland is going to hang on to him now that they are playing better lately and could possibly be playoff contenders.
  2. What can Durham do that Hairston can't?
  3. I traded Pat Burrell and Jason Lane for Roy Halladay and Larry Walker. The trade was basically Burrell for Halladay...I dropped Walker later and he dropped Lane. My outfield is fine now anyways, as I have Vlad, Floyd and Bay. Also, I dealt Chase Utley and Michael Young for Carlos Zambrano. I might have overpaid a little bit, but I already had Jeter at SS and had no use for Young, and Utley was only eligible at 1B and 2B, where I already have Ortiz and Kent.
  4. We're really sucking right now. We need to win this game, period. If Corey plays over Hairston, I will throw sharp objects.
  5. I don't know, he worked a couple decent AB's yesterday, but he's still not making much contact lately.
  6. Finally, Dusty puts out a decent lineup. Let's hope it generates some runs.
  7. 1. Todd Walker, 2B 2. Michael Barrett, C 3. Derrek Lee, 1B 4. Aramis Ramirez, 3B 5. Jeromy Burnitz, RF 6. Todd Hollandsworth, LF 7. Ronny Cedeno, SS 8. Corey Patterson, CF
  8. I'm spot starting today and this is my Game Thread Starter debut! :) So, today's game was frustrating as the Cubs couldn't score off of Tony Armas and we fell 4-2 to the Nationals, but we have to put that behind us and just concentrate on winning this last game of the series to avoid the sweep. Here is the pitching matchup: Carlos Zambrano http://images.sportsline.com/images/baseball/mlb/players/60x80/223692.jpg 5-4, 3.93 ERA Z is coming off a sterling outing against Milwaukee on June 28th in which he went 8 innings and gave up 0 runs while only allowing 3 hits on his way to his 5th victory of the season. vs. Ryan Drese http://images.sportsline.com/images/baseball/mlb/players/60x80/212017.jpg 6-7, 5.68 ERA Drese was acquired by the Nationals in early June, and in 3 starts with them, he has a 2-1 record and a 2.84 ERA. His last start came against the Pirates on June 28th and he held them to just 1 run on 5 hits in 8 innings of work for the win. Let's hope the bats can cool down the little hot streak he's been on in his last few outings. GO CUBS!!!!
  9. He worked a couple decent AB's, but the problem is, a lot of the pitches he fouled off were out of the zone anyways and he should have just layed off of them. Pitchers are just constantly going up and out of the strike zone against him and he always goes fishing for it. If we're going to contend for a playoff spot, we really can't put up with Corey's lack of production much longer. Seriously, how many contending teams out there have starting CF's, or even starters at any position with an OPS as low as .661? That's what Corey is down to at this point. Something needs to be done. Either move him to 7th or 8th or find a taker for him through a trade. Putting him at leadoff, with a .274 OBP, is just plain insanity.
  10. Oh we can more than contend with Patterson. But Dusty right now is not putting Patterson in a position to even succeed. Dusty should sit him for a few games. Let him catch his breath. And then exclusivly bat him in the 7th hole. Don't put the pressure of leading off on him and don't try to turn him into something he is not. I think it's at the point where Corey just isn't going to be successful in Chicago. He's the new LaTroy Hawkins. I agree. Everyone is fed up with him, including me.
  11. Cedeno probably can play 3rd, but Dusty is unlikely to play him there.
  12. Dunn hits sace flies all the time. They just happen to go out of the park, This is a no branier if we can get him, get him. I will help pack Sergio and Todd's bags. Agreed 100%.
  13. Let's get 'em tomorrow. Cubs/Nationals should be a pretty good series.
  14. This game is about to get busted wide open.
  15. Len says Lee is leading the 1B voting by 49,410 votes. :D
  16. I would too. He had a couple of great seasons and then started getting hammered in NY.
  17. Dunn's on base percentage is .384. He gets on base plenty, and he hits for a ton of power. You need to look past just his batting average.
  18. Remlinger has been pretty bad, but Borowski has been worse, not to mention his velocity was still down and he was leaving the ball up in the zone. I'd like to see Remmy gone soon as well, but JoBo and his 6.55 ERA needed to go at this point.
  19. Why do people keep saying we strike out too much? The Cubs rank just 13th out of 16th in strikeouts in the NL. The fact of the matter is, we're weak at LF because Hollandsworth just isn't very good in a starting role and Dubois isn't going to get much playing time, and didn't do so well when he was starting anyways. How does Dunn not fix our problems? Our team OBP is just .325, 14th out of 16 in the NL, and Dunn's OBP is .384, which would put him second on our team behind only Lee.
  20. I'd love this: Kotsay CF Walker 2B Lee 1B Ramirez 3B Dunn LF Burnitz RF Barrett C Cedeno SS
