  1. Can I just rant about Michigan fans being upset Harbaugh is leaving? 97% of you guys wanted him gone at this time last yr But to answer your question, I think Bill O Brien would be a great get at this point. I am sure he would keep most of the current coaching staff, be able to land a decent DC if they don't promote within, and have a good enough reputation to keep current recruits and players in place. Edit I am drinking and reading some other stuff on the webs. I think a real out of the box bold move would be Brian Flores
  2. We did this in late 80s/early 90s. Rushing, receiving or passing TD = 6 points. 12 if 50+ yards. Field goal = 3 points. 6 if 50+ yards Extra point = 1 point RB or receiver over 100 yards = 1 point QB over 300 yards = 1 point Defense and special teams only got points when they scored. Our scores looked like normal football game scores. Our league in the late 80s was very similar. Todd Christenson was the first pick in our first draft. He had scored 8 tds the previous year. The next highest TE had 2. Everyone picked kickers in the early rounds
  3. He was widely considered a poor SS because he "lacked range" Sports writers were talking about how he needed to move to 3b from the get go. Oh how the way the game is watched has changed
  4. I really think Ortiz being super media friendly while Bonds and Clemons almost the opposite had a lot more to do with who gets in the HofF then any rational thought process.
  5. I get that and a lot of people will go back to this, or the choice to kick deep. To me, you can (and should) take the entire game into account and not just one 15 second blip. It ended in a tie. The OT rules should be based off the fact that the first 60 min resulted in a tie. As a casual NFL fan, I thought the OT kind of deflated a great game. I think a10 min OT period would be great.
  6. My son and I were talking about this today. He was thinking that these kids could realistically go to Jackson St for a year or 2, probably get full time snaps and then hit the transfer portal. They will probably do just as well or better in NIL being the big fish in the little pond for a couple of years. Create a huge amount of new buzz if they transfer, do even better in a 3rd yr at NIL and move on to NFL
  7. I was a huge Raider fan from those days. They are probably still my favorite NFL team but not like I loved them in those days. I remember how upset I was when Madden quit coaching.
  8. I mean, that one was on a tee. It would have been a crime had no one brought it up. Living close to Champaign, I am shocked how many people are still really upset by this. I tell them to print up tshirts that say you are B1G champs. Really no one gives a hoot about regular season champions except Green Bay Packer fans
  9. Yeah bowls are pointless. People kept attacking Harbaugh for his bowl record (on top of the MSU/OSU stuff) and I just couldn't find it in me to care. I don't think I've ever watched an entire Michigan bowl game in a decade. Seems like a pointless exhibition to me. Most teams play their big rivalry game the last week of the season so its sort of a climax to the season. But instead, you take a 5 week break before watching your team play one more game in a neutral location with nothing on the line. If they win, great. If they lose, whatever. I'm sure the players feel the same way except some of them have millions on the line. I am pretty sure Schembechler used to basically say it didnt matter. As an MSU fan I tend to get into them a bit more if its a New Years bowl game but I am with you, I just dont get to excited about them. I was super excited to make the playoffs the one year but knew we were going to get our butts whooped by Alabama so the game itself didnt really get me too worked up. I will almost refuse to bet on bowl games either
  10. Spartan fans everywhere are excited about that great choice
  11. Spartan fans everywhere are excited about that great choice
  12. How often is that Alabama though
  13. I think Georgia is lucky OkSt lost the way this game is going
  14. I thought their high ranking was a bit unrealistic with so much turnover. And bad point guard play is a real problem in CBB
  15. I think there was also a tweet saying that is the most pressures in a game since PFF started tracking them. Only in the biggest game of his career with everything on the line. That's the kind of horsefeathers that makes you a top 3 pick in the draft, and sure enough I saw a mock earlier that had him going number 1. I think I read that Michigan had zero negative yard plays on Sat also.
  16. Yep, he’s pretty good too. Very proud of Arkansas yesterday, but there’s no way BAMA is the second best team in the country. Georgia will torch them. I would be surprised if Alabama was ahead of OSU this week
  17. I think Michigan is going to make it a closer game this year for various reasons. But OSUs talent will pull away in the end It will tough to keep it close imo. Yes they have 2 elite pass rushers to keep Ohio State in 2nd and 3rd and longs but as you’ve seen today Ohio State can get out of those situations in a hurry and Michigan overall has been relatively bad at getting off the field on 3rd and long this year (relatively speaking). Their only shot to keep is close is if they manage to control the flow of the game with their running game and they get turnover luck (+2 or better) At Michigan, big rival. Michigan will score some I think Michigan ends up "controlling" the OSU passing attack for a bit. I think its going to be Henderson who has a huge game.
  18. 7 for 7 Do not think they'll be able to move the ball in such a manner against U of M, they'll score for sure, however, not in such a hot knife through butter manner. I think Michigan is going to make it a closer game this year for various reasons. But OSUs talent will pull away in the end
  19. :beg: And they have two 5 star recruits as back ups
  20. I think you mean Auburn, not Arkansas, but I agree with your point on the committee. Someone please make a case for Sparty to beat Ohio State. I really do not want to see them in the CFP this year. UAB over UTSA Memphis over Houston Clemson over Wake SMU/Cincy may be a close one. Spartys ability to run the aĺ effectively can leave OSUs offense on the sidelines. But our pass defense is very shaky.
  21. To add to this, ESPN projected a 24 team playoff (based on its projected results the next 2 weeks). 24 is too much for me. When you start seeing teams that you haven't even thought about for weeks as a playoff team, that's when I get on board with the 'regular season should matter' crowd. I do believe there should be enough teams where the margin for error in the regular season is not 0, but when you are talking about teams with 4 losses, then it matters way too little. First round 17. Texas A&M (9-3) at 16. UTSA (13-0) 24. Northern Illinois (9-4) at 9. Pitt (11-2) 21. Utah (9-4) at 12. Oklahoma (11-2) 20. NC State (9-3) at 13. Baylor (10-2) 22. Appalachian State (11-2) at 11. Ole Miss (10-2) 19. Wisconsin (9-4) at 14. BYU (10-2) 23. Utah State (10-3) at 10. Michigan State (10-2) 18. Wake Forest (10-3) at 15. Iowa (10-2) Second round UTSA/Texas A&M at 1. Georgia (13-0) Pitt/NIU at 8. Michigan (10-2) Oklahoma/Utah at 5. Alabama (11-2) Baylor/NC State at 4. Notre Dame (11-1) Ole Miss/App State at 6. Oregon (11-2) BYU/Wisconsin at 3. Cincinnati (13-0) Michigan State/Utah State at 7. Oklahoma State (11-2) Iowa/Wake Forest at 2. Ohio State (12-1) Since the Bowl games have pretty much become meaningless, I wonder how long before they are talking 24/32 team playoff. At some point Bowls will start losing too much money to exist.
  22. this MSU fan isnt balistic. If we win out we will probably be in the playoff, if we lose we will not. We would pass UM up, so it is really not that big of a deal. I also wouldnt look at the UM game at E Lansing and draw some conclusion that we were a better team, well except for the score:)
  23. I am very concerned about this Saturdays game at Purdue
  24. I should drum up the actual quote, but the dude in charge said something along the lines that the gap between 3-9 was very small. So Alabama is currently in a "higher" position in the committees mind. I think Alabama is going to make it if they win out and lose to Georgia in the SEC championship game. Cincinnati with no big games left is going to be hard pressed to make it
  25. Just to refresh my memory, was this the same off season that Patrick Kane's frat boy behavior got him into a bit of trouble?
