  1. I have to say that after watching comcast last night, reading some message boards this morning and also articles in Chicago Newspapers...Blackhawk's players, coaches, media, and fans are much more classier and knowledgeable about hockey than Duck's players, coaches, media and fans.
  2. Completely agreed. I sure don't think a "Sportscenter Special" was needed for this last night either. Because they are finding outside of minnesota and buffalo, no one cares about Favre and Owens anymore. So to keep the never ending NFL hype going they have to over report another story. Too bad, there is actually some compelling stuff going on in the NBA and NHL playoffs
  3. He isnt going to be a HOFer, but Cleary has been a 40 point a season scorer for the Wings. He has also been very good as a playoff performer. He is a top 6 forward on the defending Stanley Cup champions. Not exactly a bad player.
  4. I really think it is possible the Hawks win the next 2 at home. another thing that the wings do when building their roster is they are real good at finding players that fit into their roles and play them well. They picked up Draper, Maltby, Cleary, Lilja, and Samuelson for nothing.
  5. good luck tonight guys...again I will not be around to post. I expect a real good game tonight.
  6. http://sportsmediawatch.blogspot.com/2009/05/nhl-hits-big-20.html cool
  7. WHAT?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! Very likely comment WINGS FAN! ;) Except most Wings fans think there is an NHL conspiracy to screw them because Bettman has a personal dislike for Illitch. I think there is a common theme among many sports message boards that the league/conference for college sports are conspiring against their team. And what's funny is all the teams that I root for, except the Hawks and Hawkeyes, would be or were at one time, a team that you would consider one of the leagues darlings and would probably benefit from any conspiracy if there really were one. logically it would make more sense for the league to have the Hawks do well. Much larger fan base, teams tend to have higher ratings when they are first getting established than if they have been around for awhile. Help recreate a strong rivalry between the Hawks and the Wings. Also a hockey fan of neither team would probably be more inclined to tune in for a Hawks final because they have seen the Wings before. Like I said, I dont think any conspiracy exists. If there is one, the NHL has not made wise decisions on who they were going to get to be good...see Carolina and Tampa Bay winning cups in the last few years.

  9. one other thing I want to rant about hockey message boards in general. There is not NHL conspiracy to screw your team...nor is there one to ensure another team does well. Seems like a huge majority of fans of every team have these feelings.
  10. Kyle, I really think NSBB ruins me for other message boards. It is not always civil, but it is well run and the moderators usually keep things under control. The hooligans that seem to spend way to much time not contributing anything of value on most sports teams message boards is very frustrating. Like Cyno said indianheadnation is ok. So is Letsgowings.com. But there are many on both of those sites who are whiners, cussers and add no value to any good discussion. There's actually like three realllllly bad ones on IHN the rest of the people are pretty cool... there are three though that are a hundred times worse than me... overall it's a great place to talk hockey. Even I have to tone it down over there... you won't get banned for swearing or anything... but be too subjective multiple times and you're gone. I like browsing LGW but I would never post there... too similar to the nhl.com Redwings board. There are several really rational, intelligent hockey fans who post on LGW. It is not moderated that well and there is a big meathead group there also. It shows when you have someone do something like give the Ducks props for playing a style that gives the Wings problems(intelligent and rational), than 8 idiots who than say such intelligent things like .... The Ducks. overall though, when talking about the Wings it is very good. Which there are many boards you dont even get good conversation about the team the board is for.

  12. The Wings do have several players who have signed very cap friendly deals...so the thought that they may have others is not out of the question. I dont follow the salary structure of other teams that much, but the Wings seem to sign most of them before they hit the open market. I guess I would ask, have the Hawks shown the ability to sign their core players to long term cap friendly contracts?
  13. What is Draper good for? Solid defense, good on face-offs, good penalty killer, helps younger 3rd/4th liners understand their roles. Much more valuable than you think. Pahlsson is a quality 3rd/4th line center in a similar mold of Kris Draper.
  14. Not much to add. I read through what you guys have said. I really dont think this is going to be a sweep though. I really believe it will go back to Detroit after game 4 2-2.
  15. In all sincerity Good Luck guys. In all honesty...hope you lose Wings in 6 Just because I tend to get a little emotional, I will not be here much during the games. I would hate for me and cyno to getted banned!! I will be a gentleman before and after the games There is something very wrong about a red wings hat on pujols
  16. I'm not trying to be rude: but will there ever be a point where you won't b*tch and moan about the date/time of the Blackhawk playoff games? Likely not, I take my Blackhawks seriously. Just be happy they're this far. If they wanted to play at 3am in Rockford: I'd be happy with it. which is similar to 3pm in Detroit
  17. I think this upcoming series has the chance to set the tone for a renewing of a great rivalry. Chicago is a good up and coming team that has really impressed me so far in the playoffs. I dont think the Wings are going to roll over and die in the next few years. Should be great stuff. I hope the rivalry can just be about intense play and not someone getting hurt because of a cheapshot. That being said I hope Cleary and Helms both run Khabibulin and sandwich him in the first minute of game 1!! ;) cynorules!!
  18. I think the only place you will be seeing Chelios is under your spoiler tag, unless at least 2 dmen get hurt. Plus there are whispers that Lilja may be back for the end of the series, more likely the finals. Draper was back tonight and Maltby sat, interesting. Adelkader sure is making an impression.
  19. Wrong thread/you suck! you Hucks fans make this posting about the Red Wings confusing!!
  20. WRONG THREAD WANGS FAN!!!! Hey I am still dizzy from lack of breathing!!
  21. ok caught my breath!! I think the reason I hate anaheim so much is because they are such a bad matchup for the Wings. I am relieved we won!!
  22. i don't think you understand how hockey works. Please enlighten me, father. Most goonery is to set the tone for the next game.
  23. If it wasnt game 7, if he was not a top player...he may be facing a suspension for that. I think I have found the NHLs standard.
  24. Looked a lot worse then the penalties that were handed out: 20:00 Anaheim Corey Perry: 2 minutes, roughing 20:00 Anaheim Corey Perry: 5 minutes, fighting 20:00 Anaheim Corey Perry: 10 minutes, misconduct 20:00 Anaheim Scott Niedermayer: 5 minutes, fighting 20:00 Anaheim Todd Marchant: 10 minutes, game misconduct 20:00 Anaheim Ryan Getzlaf: 2 minutes, hooking 20:00 Anaheim Ryan Getzlaf: 2 minutes, roughing 20:00 Detroit Pavel Datsyuk: 5 minutes, fighting 20:00 Detroit Brian Rafalski: 5 minutes, fighting Just out of curiosity, but what's the point of handing out penalties after a game is over? Do they carry over at all to the next game? No. The game misconducts will be reviewed and possible fines handed out. The funny thing is there is no way they would hand out these types of penalties if the game was actually going on. The Wings would have a 2 min 5 on 3 and than 2 more minutes of PP. So not only do they not matter, they wouldnt have handed out these types of penalties if it did. I dont understand what Getzlaf was thinking. The Ducks played their best game of the series. Detroit was frustrated. So instead of going to give your goalie a high five for playing well, he starts a fight after the game. The NHL isnt going to hand out suspensions for this, but you are pushing the envelope. Also, Anaheim has looked the best during this series when they quit acting like goons and skate hard, like they did most of the game yesterday. It was almost like they were told to behave the entire game and if they do they can goon it up as soon as its over. I also dont understand why Getzlaf didnt get a misconduct.
