  1. Maybe the reason "puff pieces" are written about Ryno is because there is not a lot of bad things that can be said about him (other than the delusional rantings of Cubette of course). He wasn't a selfish player, his teammates loved him, his opponents admired him, his players respect him and he was never suspected of using steroids. Other than marrying his high school sweetheart who turned into a philandering wench, the guy didn't make a lof of mistakes. He cheated on his wife. NOT the other way around. Cindy said he was the one who slept around. Cindy is happy to be rid of him. Right, the reason the Cubs traded Raffy and Dave Martinez is because Ryno was sleeping with their wives not the other way around. Cindy Sandberg rode Ryno's coattails to fame and fortune and then dumped him. She was a poor excuse for a wife and mother although evidently she was the most popular person in the Cubs locker room. I wonder why?
  2. Another more optimistic angle. If the Bulls re-sign P.J. Brown, it gives them one of the deepest 4/5 groups in the league (Noah, Brown, Wallace and Thomas), and opens the door for them to move Wallace down the road if they want to use his contract to acquire a big-money guy (Kobe, KG, Pierce, whomever). I also thought the Bulls were a little too business-like last year. It killed them in the Detroit series. They have too many lead-by-example guys and stoic guys ... Noah solves that problem right away. Imagine the energy when Noah, Thomas, Deng, Gordon and Hinrich are on the floor. You know what else is interesting? Noah would have been the first or second pick in last year's draft ... so basically, the Bulls ended up with two of the top three from the 2006 draft for the right not to pay Eddy Curry way too much money. Thank you, Isiah! Would Spencer Hawes have been a better pick? Only time will tell.
  3. Who would you have selected at #9 if you were Pax? "Noah Sucks" is about the most useless (and inaccurate) critique you can make. Maybe you don't like him, but clearly a two-time National Champ doesn't suck That's poor logic, just because he got 2 banners doesn't validate a pick...otherwise Green and Humphrey would be lotto picks. (Keep in mind I like the pick...and I HATE Noah.) Reminds me of Jerry Krause trying to pump up Will Perdue's trade value by telling people he had three rings. To which the crafty old GM replied, "So does their trainer."

  5. As I mentioned previously, Cuban has no chance.
  6. Evidently Big Frank was in a hurry to start celebrating. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/recap?gameId=270628109
  7. Wasnt he always kind of outspoken with the test me stuff and what not. He also was a TE at Auburn so he was big when he came into baseball and hasnt really gotten any bigger. I am not naive and if it came out next week he was a user I wouldnt be shocked. I just dont think there is any evidence at all that points a finger at him. First Ballot HOFer. This is what annoys me about the steriod issues. Getting bigger doesn't mean a guy has or hasn't used steriods. I'm not saying that I think Big Hurt doesn't deserve to be in the HOF, in fact I believe he does deserve to be in. I'll be interested to hear what networks like ESPN have to say about guys like Thomas, Griffey Jr., ARod, etc. that all played in the "steriod era" and are HOFers in my mind. If you don't vote guys based on suspicion, or because they're guilty by association then none of these guys get in. The whole situation intrigues me, to be honest. Thomas, Arod and Griffey go in on the first ballot. Bonds (Game of Shadows), McGwire (Congressional testimony) and Sammy (skeptical media, Interpreter at hearing, corked bat and size change) will have to wait a while. I'm not saying that it's fair or that I agree with it but IMO that's how it will fallout. If there is the slightest suspicion, the voters will hold that against the player - see McGwire.
  8. if you don't belive daske, just ask Steve Phillips or Mo Vaughn
  9. According to fanball.com, Minnesota is no longer an option. Who in their right mind would take on the ridiculous contract Hendry gave Jones. The Cubs may be stuck with him for a while. http://www.fanball.com/
  10. Let's not wait for Walt. Fire Hendry now and hire Depo.
  11. This is Luhnow's third year. His first was the Rasmus/Anderson/Garcia draft (our top three prospects). I liked your old avatar much better.
  12. As of today after 20 games 427/.686/1113 Both him and Petrick should start working on their HOF acceptance speeches. They're locks.
  13. First and Third one out for the Astros with Berkman up.
  14. Maybe Petrik isn't quite ready for the Hall of Fame yet.
  15. What's that old saying? Zamrano's insane and pray for rain?
  16. Rats, I was hoping he would go to his hometown Cardinals.

Other than marrying his high school sweetheart who turned into a philandering wench, the guy didn't make a lof of mistakes. I think the second half of his career was a huge mistake, allowing the family stuff to derail what should have been a better career, and basically crapping away what was, at the time, the biggest contract in baseball history. But I'm not here to blast the guy, I just find it weird that 3 puff pieces on Ryno have been featured in the past week. Some might look at giving up the games he loves and all the money and adulation that went with it for the sake of his kids an honorable thing to do. Writers get lazy. Probably tired of writing about steroids and all the jerks in baseball and wanted to go to the other extreme for a change.

  19. if only there was a nsbb obsessed weather man to clue us in to the likelihood of Cubs baseball tonight. It will be fine tonight. The VOR will be ten rows back of the Cubs dugout surrounded by beautiful and adoring women. No way it rains on his parade. If i was surrounded by beautiful women I would have no problem if it poured. With that said my girlfriend is going to the game...I hope she isn't around you. PM me her cell phone number. I'll make sure your little lady has an enjoyable evening. She's 6'5" 270. You think you can handle her? I pay well. She can be my bodyguard.

  22. Anger turned outward = violence Anger turned inward = depression Anger turned sideways = IMB!
  23. Great article on Ryno in USA Today. Not many millionaire ex-players are willing to make the sacrafices he has to stay involved in baseball. What a class act. http://www.usatoday.com/sports/baseball/2007-06-25-sandberg-cover_N.htm
