Talk where? In the media? By the fans? That doesn't mean anything. It's pretty simply. Krivsky is going to get what HE wants for Dunn and Griffey or he will hang onto them into the offseason and probably into next season. Dunn's price tag is cheaper then Griffey's, but both are going to cost you something nice. Either somebody is going to step up and make a deal, or nothing will happen. I'm not sure if I like the strategy or not, but that's what is going to happen. if the cubs and reds were gonna make a deal for griffey, what would you as a fan want back from the cubs? For Griffey? Marshall, Patterson, and a pitching prospect along with the Reds not having to pay any of his salary. If that's what the Cubs give up the Reds better be picking up part of his salary. The Cubs would be crazy to give up that much for an injury prone old outfielder who could break down at any time.
