  1. How did your illini do in their bowl?
  2. Only states to go 2-0 in bowls this year: Iowa, Idaho and Utah. Totally dominant game by the defense. Stanzi showed how good he can be at times and then he goes through stretches where he doesn't see the field and makes bad decisions. Fake field goal call was interesting. They obviously must have seen on film that the outside man crashes hard and thought they could sneak past him. Should end the season ranked #6 or 7. 4th time in 8 years they'll finish in the top 8. Hopefully one of Spivey/Bulaga will come back. Should be somewhere between 5-10 preseason next year. Any chance they'll start playing a little tougher teams in their non-conference schedule?

  4. What do you mean, 77% of the voters were smart enough not to vote for McGwire.
  5. Georgia Tech is one horrible football team.
  6. An evils of substance abuse class given by new coach Mark McGwire.
  7. Nearly pissed my pants I'm sorry, I should have said slightly less valuable. I'm not sure you know what "slightly" means Do you really think Milton Bradley had any trade value in MLB??? He hasn't had trade value since he went after the Royals announcer or had to get taken down by his Padres manager. Aside from one inflated year in Texas, he's a statistical joke with nothing but peripheral stats that are a pipe dream because they never amount to actual production over a 162 game season. Fact: Milton Bradley has had NEGATIVE trade value for several years. Because of this it was stupid for Hendry to sign him in the first place. To this, even Hendry agrees with you. http://www.chicagobreakingsports.com/2009/12/cubs-hendry-takes-blame-for-bradley-fiasco.html
  8. What red flags in terms of teammates hating him? That's like the one thing Bradley didn't have a problem with before he was signed. And who gives a [expletive] what that awful midget at SS thinks? He's been the only guy to seem to not like Bradley, and it's hardly like he speaks for the team. Jeesh, lay off Theriot. According to Bruce Miles everyone affiliated with the Cubs wanted Bradley gone. And as usual, Bruce is right.

And who gives a [expletive] what that awful midget at SS thinks? He's been the only guy to seem to not like Bradley, and it's hardly like he speaks for the team. I said "red flags were there." Eight teams in nine years, blow up after blow up, inability to handle the media, etc., etc. If you think just Theriot hated Bradley then you are very naive. Let's see how many Cubs defend his antics in the next few days.
  10. What I'm saying is they didn't have to trade him. Nothing happened that forced them to trade Milton Bradley. There was never a time when they had to trade Milton Bradley. The fact that they were determined to trade him no matter what does not mean they had to trade him. The guy is a cancer. They never should have signed him in the first place. The red flags were all there. His teammates hated him. Theriot was practically giddy during an interview today. Hendry should follow him out of town. His signing of and trading of Bradley were both horrible deals.
  11. I'm happy they got rid of him, they had to get rid of him. Manager hated him as well as most of his teammates. Instead of trying to make that problem less worse, they made increased the damage depending on how poorly Silva does or what that extra money brings in. Silva is bad, but he won't be as bad as he was with Seattle in '08 even with the lack of MI range. None of that is a reason to get rid of a player. Why not get rid of the manager if he's incapable of managing the guy (and hasn't exactly been doing a bangup job nor is he owed much in comparison). Bradley has now been on nine different teams in ten years. Was it the Manager's fault on all those other teams too?
  12. That guy also went on to say he thinks Tiger Woods will get the husband of the year award.
  13. Trade makes sense. A buffoon trading a buffoon for a bigger buffoon. The view from Rotowold.
  14. Who said he's going to Iowa? Surprised he doesn't want to play for Ron Zook, he's such a good recruiter.
  15. Derwood I know you have a very impressive resume which gives you the right to demean others but for the record, Plaschke has been named National Sports Columnist of the Year by the Associated Press four times. Not as impressive as your accomplishments but it's a little something. Yes, I know, the Associated Press has no credibility. That sounds like an argument that Plaschke would use You have 20,000 posts on a baseball website, he's only been named Sports Columnist of the year four times, I don't think he would dare argue with you.
  16. The Pac Ten is a good conference. Wouldn't your Illini love to be 8 - 3 instead of the reverse of it. Hey, and if we win next week, we'll have as many wins as Washington. Of course we didn't get to play USC, so they had an unfair advantage. Washington. Washington. How did you do against THE Ohio State?

  19. Yeah, I don't buy that. Tenuta, in 5 years, had 15 players drafted into the NFL from his defensive squads at Georgia Tech. Top 30 in total defense every year he was at Tech and was basically the only reason Tech ever finished above .500 under Chan Gailey. Tech's defense was on the field far more than the offense under Gailey. At Notre Dame, he's come into a mess. If Virginia comes to him, he'll be out of ND in a heart beat. I'd imagine virtually all the assistants are out of ND in a heart beat. Maybe those with ND ties will be kept on, but unless ND utterly whiffs on their head coach, the new guy's gonna want all his own people. Not that Prater ever seriously considered ND but now he most certainly will go to USC. Too bad for the Irish, he would have become their top receiver. At USC he might make second string.
  20. Hmmm, who's opinion do I value more, SSR and Hawkeye Cub or the La Times? Thats a toughie. http://www.latimes.com/sports/college/usc/la-sp-plaschke29-2009nov29,0,5628166.column

  22. When asked afterwards, the UCLA coaches and players didn't have a problem with it. If you don't want the game extended, don't call time outs. This is much ado about nothing. A lot of Bruin fans whining. Of course, when you lose nine of the last ten to the Trojans, a much better football program, I guess their misguided frustration is understandable, if not justified. Next time don't call time outs.
  23. Sammy use a foreign substance to artificially change his body - NEVER!!!
  24. So you think the BCS is good or bad for college football?
  25. 8.5 for style and creativity and 1 bonus point for not resorting to the University of Spoiled Children "slam." All in a 9.5 Raisin, not bad.
