  1. Mods - Permission requested to bump my "Jim Hendry should be fired now" thread. Why wait until Sunday?
  2. By not scoring enough.
  3. Peavy only threw 95 pitches last night so he should be ready to go Sunday on three days rest if necessary.
  4. Cub win Cubs win Cubs win Cubs win I mean Brewers lose Brewers lose Brewers lose Brewers lose
  5. I think the Red Birds are just paying me back for all the love and devotion I've shown them over the years on this site.
  6. As they say down in Hooterville (AKA St. Louis), MON YOU RED BIRDS!
  7. If only Ankiel could have stayed on HGH a few more weeks the fairy tale might not have ended.
  8. Is there any word that describes Kendall better? No, but there are three that do over the hill
  9. I keep hearing this and just don't get it. How is Lou setting up the rotation for the playoffs when he's got his best 2 pitchers pitching the last 2 games of the year? Dammit http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/cs-070925cubsbits,0,1800374.story?coll=chi_tab02_layout
  10. Good thing Lou has been getting the rotation for the playoffs set up. Not to worry, we got Traschel going tomorrow.
  11. because they've won 3 in a row? they lost 4 in a row right before that At least they haven't given up, like the Cards. It's interesting to see a team that won the World Series last year play with such a lack of pride. more like lack of talent Did Wainwright, Eckstein, Edmonds, Spiezo, Ankiel, Miles and that Pujols guy all of a sudden all become talentless bums? As for the bolded no not all of a sudden, its been like that for awhile. As for Edmonds, it hasnt been all of a sudden, its been this year, hes old and his body is beat up. Hes not the early 2000's Edmonds. As for Pujols, the guy is hurt. He could barely make it around the bases last night. [/b] Didn't look too hurt on that home run tonight.
  12. I'll give you that Friday looks like a mismatch. But both teams have problems. The pitching matchups favor SD after the 1st game. At least look at both sides. If the Brewers are gonna play hard because they're desperate, won't the Padres, who are even more in the race? The Padres have been 5 games better than the Brewers this season, against a tougher schedule and division. The Padres lost 4 straight, but are still 8-4 in their last 12. The Brewers lost 3 of 4, and don't have a 7 game win streak to fall back on. +1
  13. If Sunday is gonna be the deciding game for the WC, they'll throw Peavy. Agree, but they are currently tied for the WC lead. They could easily be out of it by Sunday. They are currently 1 game up in the WC, not tied. You're right. They were tied going into last night's game and one out away from remaining tied. With Philly and Colorado only one game back, it probably will come down to Sunday night and Peavy on three days rest.

  15. to take care of the Brewers, have you considered that • Thursday in Milwaukee, 27-year-old rookie right-hander Jack Cassel is supposed to start for the Padres against the Brewers and their current ace, Yovani Gallardo. • Friday, the Padres will start Greg Maddux, blasted in two of his last three starts. He's fighting a bad back. • Saturday, they'll start Chris Young, still recovering from a sore oblique. He's 0-3 with a 7.00 ERA in five September starts. • And Sunday, it's supposed to be Brett Tomko again. He gave up four early runs to the Giants on Tuesday. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/writers/john_donovan/09/26/pennant.races/index.html Peavy is pitching today against the Giants. The Cubs are going to have to win it on their own.

  18. Evidently the Cardinals didn't get the memo.
  19. It isn't. Bradley never mentioned it. He said the ump called him a POS - not a nice term but one that historically has been uttered to people of all races. The first base coach thought the ump's comments had "racial overtones" but he has never said specifically what was said or why he thought so. Whenever a black and white person are involved in any incident someone will eventually brings up racism whether it is warranted or not. Then I think the only question remaining is the most important one: Is there video footage anywhere of this injury?? There are two sides to every story. So far we've only heard one side. Before we convict the umpire, I'd like to hear his side of the story.
