  1. I always just thought he was low-key, but its hard to say. Pierzynski Edmonds Oswalt Clemens Jeter Bonds Pujols. Don't take that the wrong way. I have all the respect in the world for the guy. He's the game's best hitter...i just hate him.
  2. Yanks-Red Sox is so overblown its ridiculous. I'm all for rivalries, but I don't need to see every one of their games and have full analysis of it.
  3. Being at Gameday live is maybe the coolest thing I've ever done. I went to Purdue-Wisconsin last year at Purdue and it was amazing. Just hope Corso puts on the right mascot head. Jon- I watched the NU game last week and the Purdue game. There is no reason NU shouldn't put up at least 40 on my boys. Our defense is absolutely awful and the players confidence is visibly shaken. On offense, Tiller had better scrap this spread option thing until he finds someone who can run it. Kirsch is clueless. My call- NU 42, Purdue 24.
  4. Yeah, I've never really has any problems with them. They show up, cheer loud and are knowledgable. I can't really be annoyed with that. I still hate the Cardinals, just not their fans. Go Angels!
  5. I have to say "Go Cards" because of the fan difference too. St. Louis fans are awesome(at least compared to Astros fans). I also have grandparents who live in St. Louis and are true blue Cards fans. Really, though, GO ANGELS!!! I couldn't think of 4 teams i dislike more than the Cards, Astros, Yanks and Sox.
  6. I love the Gameday choice of OSU at Penn St. Penn State has really come on and this game is going to be a classic. Purdue needs to bounce back quickly against Iowa. If not, say hello to the Sun Bowl for the 4th time in 5 years  . I don't think we are going to win.
  7. Notre Dame at Purdue in prime time(6:45 Central). This one is gonna be a shootout and its gonna be fun to watch. I'm holding off on a prediction, but if the Boilers lose, they are in some serious trouble the way the rest of the Big 10 is playing. My Saturday is going to be wild. First, my team plays the #6 ranked team in the state, then I'm leaving straight from there and going to watch Purdue at Ross-Ade. Boiler Up!
  8. Are you going to the game? It should be a fun one. Boiler Up!
  9. I havent see PU play this year, but listened to some of a radio show about them today. I believe I heard they are running an option offense now. Is that true? I cant see tiller running much of the option. Also I am gonna root for PU so when ND comes into town hopefully it will be two unbeatens playing, making the game that much better. Oh yeah, we ran the option between 40-50% of the time on Saturday. Kirsch looked pretty good. The offense was almost in the Urban Meyer mold with slot guys real involved in the running game. It's weird to watch the Boilers do that, so different. I, too, am rooting for ND to go undefeated until they come to Lafayette. That has Gameday written all over it and it would be an unbelievable game.
  10. Arizona is going to be a tricky game for us. Stoops scares me and Arizona almost beat Utah earlier this year. In the desert, too. I know OU has been unimpressive, but I can't believe they are 7 pt. dogs. Wow.
  11. Sweet. Me, too(well, my parents do). Purdue football is just awesome.
  12. Most underrated game of the day: Northwestern vs. NIU. I'm gonna be ther and its gonna be a heck of a game. Go Cats!
  13. I think that the Giants geared up for a stretch run this year(they are the oldest team in the league). Bonds being out has killed them. This trade probably won't happen, but it might depend on what the Giants want to do for next year. They might go young(in which case the trade would make sense) or they might go with veterans again and make another run for the playoffs. Either way, I don't want Schmidt. As others have pointed out, he's getting worn down. Plus, I think we have more pressing needs than starting pitching.
  14. That was exactly what I was thinking. Jaret Wright, too.
  15. I agree. I think we should use the traditional white/gray more. The alternates are supposed to be worn occasionally, but it seems like we wear them about half of the time. I like our jerseys more when they had the name on the back. They still look weird without names.
  16. Wasn't that supposed to be Dusty's strength, that guys wanted to play him everyday?
  17. The thing about Rothschild that bugs me is the amount of walks all of our pitchers give up. All of our young guys(Novoa, Wellmeyer, Wuertz, etc.) seem to throw hard, but can never consistently find the strike zone. They seem to pitch for K's too much. I don't know if that is a team(Rothschild) philosophy, but it bugs me that these young guys don't pitch to contact.
  18. Improving defense is much easier than improving offense. Look at Aramis. When he came here in 03, there were major questions about his defense. Now, he's worked himself into a respectable fielder. I'd keep Barrett just for his bat. Is defense worth losing 40-50 points in BA for someone like Blanco or Matheny? I don't think so. Find a coach that can make him an average fielder and he is a valuable player.
  19. I wouldn't be against Wood as the closer. If he could avoid walking people, he could become dominant. Williamson in the 8th and KW in the 9th is a scary back end of the bullpen. This would mean we would have to go out and find another starter, but quality #4 or 5 starters are easier to find than dominant closers.
  20. There's not a whole lot of power coming out of that outfield. I'd love to see Johnny, but we might need a corner outfielder who hit 30+ HR more.
  21. If we can make it back to .500 with as many games as we play against the Cards and Astros, I'd be impressed. Don't we play each 10 more times?
  22. Me too. It's not only the fact that we were so close to the WS, it's the fact that I don't know if we'll ever be that close again(any time soon).
  23. Wow. That's unbelievable. Some fans don't know where to draw the line.
  24. I agree. Cabrera has been a bust for the Angels. Anyway, if the Cubs have a young kid who they think is ready and don't have to shell out the money for Nomar, why would they?
  25. Any team that has Prior, Z, Maddux in the rotation, a soild closer and the best 1-2 punch in baseball(statistically) in ARam and DLee and is STILL under .500? Underacheiving.
