Victor Mendez walks. Wilkin Ramirez to 2nd. Christopher Robinson singles on a bunt ground ball to third baseman Jemel Spearman. Wilkin Ramirez to 3rd. Victor Mendez to 2nd. With Nick McIntyre batting, wild pitch by Jon Hunton, Wilkin Ramirez scores. tough way to end it :(

    Iowa had 2 quick outs to start the bottom of the 7th, but they loaded the bases on a single by Padgett, a double by Fontenot, and a walk by Kopitzke. Sing is PH'ing for Ryu who had a good outing: 7 IP, 3 hits, 1 ER, 1 BB, 4 K's, 1 HR allowed. ugh, Sing K's to end the 7th leaving the bases loaded. Ryu gets a ND. To the 8th, all tied up at 1.

    Righttttt. Like we'd want a guy with a career .276 winning percentage. Girardi wasn't responsible for the fire sale for the Marlins. I'd like to see any other manager do any better with a team full of minor leaguers. He spent a few seasons in New York working with Girardi and the guy has a good grasp for the game. I know for a fact I wasn't the only one that wanted Girardi in the offseason (i think vance was a pretty big guy in terms of getting Girardi here). I would not have a problem with Brenly though, I'm that sick of Baker.

    prediction time: Cubs lose 7-2, Bonds hits #714 and 715 off of Hill. Only runs are on a 2 run homer by Ramirez.

    Peoria loses 6-0. Scott Moore homered for the Jaxx and they now lead it 2-0 in the 2nd. Pie singles in the 3rd for Iowa, but Fontenot is thrown out at the plate and Iowa does not score. Scoreless in Des Moines heading to the 4th inning.

    and yet another WP by Blackford leads to a run. Nathan said they got the runner out at the plate though and it was the worst call he's seen all year. Blackford is definitely tiring out as he plunks a batter. 4-0 Fort Wayne, still in the 6th. Blackford now gives up a 2 run homer to make it 6-0. Davis definitely stuck with Blackford an inning too long. Final line for Blackford: 5 1/3 IP, 9 hits, 6 ER's, 3 BB's, 3 K's, 1 HR, 1 HBP, 3 WP's. The outing definitely was looking like a good one before the 6th for Todd.

    Peoria now down 3-0 in the bottom of the 6th. 2 wild pitches in the inning and a passed ball led to the 1st run. Fort Wayne then got a 2 run RBI double to make it 3-0.

    I don't believe so. I think it sends a message to him and anyone else that that sort of behavior will not be tolerated. yeah I'd have to agree. The punishment seems fair to me.

    I'm getting to a point that I just want them to lose for however long it takes for Dusty to get fired. I know it's not all his fault, but it sure as hell wouldn't hurt. As I alluded to in another thread, if the Cubs lose tonite, it will be the fourth losing streak of at least 7 games in the past year under Dusty. That isn't good. In a year??? That's just terrible. I want to see a manager with some fire...when was the last time Dusty got ejected for arguing? When you're losing this much surely there's SOMETHING to argue and show your team that you have some fight in you... Even today, Steve Stone insisted that it's only a matter of time before Baker gets an extension. How can Hendry possibly sell that to the fans? If that happens, does anyone want to put together a protest outside Wrigley trying to deter fans from going into the park? It probably won't happen, but we might get some pub for it. i'd be in.

    Gene's pitching? Maddux looks awful tonight, but 10 runs in 10 games (so far tonight, 9 runs in 9 not counting tonight) does the talking for itself.
