  1. Why do you want them to win? Their chances of making the playoffs are just a little better than 1 in 400 at this point. Cubs management says it's too early to throw in the towel when they should be thinking about how to make this team better next year and the near future. This season is already a lost cause. It's not pessimism. It's realism. Check the simulations: http://www.baseballprospectus.com/statistics/ps_odds.php http://www.coolstandings.com/baseball_standings.asp?i=1 http://www.baseballprospectus.com/statistics/ps_oddspec.php Personally, I am rooting for them to lose right now, and I'm not ashamed to say it. We will not win as long as the current management stays in place. If the Cubs start winning some games now, they might finish in fourth or fifth place. If that's good enough for you, then I'm glad you're not the GM. Well then your not a cub fan if you are "rooting" for them to lose. That does not make any sense. Yeah its a tuff time to watch them play, but that being said I will NEVER root for them to lose. It may be different with football, but I'm a Raiders fan and, once I realized the season was lost, I rooted for them to lose because I wanted them to get a higher draft pick. That doesn't mean that I'm not a Raiders fan. People do this all the time. I did that with the Packers this year. It wasn't fun and I don't want to do it again. The situations are different though because in football, your whole franchise can change with the addition of one player in the draft. In baseball, it takes much more than one guy to change around a franchise and the draft in baseball is much more hit or miss than the NFL draft.
  2. Marshall K's Jordan. He's already at 64 pitches though.
  3. McCarver kissing up to the Cardinals? What else is new?
  4. Because Dusty loves giving away outs. Ok is there something wrong with moving a runner over to third base with no outs? It gave the cubs a run. Who knows if baker allowed hairston to swing away and he pops up in the infield then you have 1 out and pierre stuck on 2b still. Walker then grounds out 4-3 now you have 2 outs with pierre on third. Then Barrett flys out so now the score is 0-0 instead of 1-0. That is why Baker had Hairston bunting Yep. Bunting people over has worked well for us this year. How many runs have we scored again? How many sac bunts have there been this year? Ok how many clutch hits has Hairston had this year? NONE. Im not sure what is wrong with playing with a early lead. I guess you guys just want to the cubs to fail Ummmmm... what? Yeah everytime im on NSBB i hear someone say i hope we lose. What is that about??? ANd know im hearing how bad of a play it was for Hairston to bunt that does not make any sense. It's called sarcasm.
  5. You are throwing away an out in the FIRST inning when the guy is already in scoring position and will score on just about any hit. Half the time an out you make on accident will move him over because of his speed. It's a terrible decision. With an anemic offense like the Cubs, an RBI groundout is much more likely than an RBI single.
  6. I don't know what was so bad about that. That strategy was what gave the White Sox 35 or so leads in the 1st inning last year. Get the leadoff man on, steal a base, sac bunt, get the runner in.
  7. Wow, Pierre actually utilizes his speed to get on base.

  9. too bad he didn't start today. I would have much rather wanted to see him get the start than Neifury. and yes, if I didn't have school, I'd have posted this before the game as well.
  10. ahahahahahaha our management is the most clueless management in the world.
  11. Zito is not worth the money he's going to command in the offseason. I would stay away from him at all costs. well if we trade Wood, we wouldn't have to pick up his outrageous $13.5 million option. We could use most of that money for Zito.
  12. 3 of the last 4. He somehow managed to get a save against the Sox.
  13. /inserts Astros crap Blah blah blah, they were 15-30, went to the WS, blah blah blah. /cuts Astros crap
  14. we all know Neifi should be in the minors, but does this really have to be in the Minor League section?
  15. Nope. No kidding. So far, Hendry's answer to this offensive offense has been to call up a no htting OFer, then exchange him for a light hitting 2B (the 4th on the roster) and then send that guy down for a career light-htting 2B he just pulled off the scrap heap. Hendry clearly gave up on this team the moment Lee broke his wrist. That has to be the explanation, but the only other possible explanations would be inability to SEE what is wrong ir inability to do anything about it...either of which are inexcusable from a GM. WOW. How can you say Hendry has given up on this team??? You have GM's in baseball saying he is always on the phone. WOW your comment does not make any sense. No teams are willing to make trades in APRIL. WOW you must be... well im not going to say it because im in shock yeah obviously someone didn't see that the Mets and D'Backs just made a trade 2 days ago. If Hendry was working hard on the phones, he'd have a trade by now...guranteed. the cubs should have got el duque? my point was in reference that there are trades that are being made in May, not for getting The Duke.
