  1. Link It'll be really tough to get a top prospect for a struggling Z. Well, you'd rather get something of value than just lose him for nothing in the offseason.
  2. Iowa won 5-4. Fontenot was 2/4 with two doubles and a BB. Cedeno was 2/2 with a double and two walks. His average is now up to .305. Felix was 1/5. EPatt struggled as he went 0/5 with 2 strikeouts. Scott Moore hit his 4th HR of the season. Piggy and Cherry both worked the 9th to preserve the victory. Piggy's ERA is now down to 1.02. Daytona's final score was 13-4.
  3. Samardzija with yet another awful outing: 4 IP, 9 hits, 6 runs, 1 K/1 BB. Daytona trails it 6-3 in the 5th. Dope hit his 2nd HR with Daytona in the 2nd. He also had a sac fly in the 4th.
  4. I'd love to see Soto called up. And then in 09 and the future, Wieters
  5. Peoria lost 5-3. Pina takes the loss: 6 IP, 8 hits, 4 runs, 8 K's/1 BB, 1 HR given up. Matt Camp had 3 hits. Yusuf had 2 RBI's and Lansford had the other one.
  6. Why do the Yankees need a catcher? Posada has been the best catcher in the league so far. How old is he? He's got to be mid 30's, right? Yeah, he's 35. But I still don't see the Yankees wanting Barrett. Barrett can't even hit right now. Add that to his crappy defense and you have yourself a pretty bad baseball player, at the moment. They wouldn't do that deal. Barrett for Baldelli, on the other hand, is very interesting. TB is loaded with OF's and they can part with one. Not to mention that Longoria is coming through the farm system fairly quickly, it'll make one of them even more expendable. And the OF that will be the most expendable will be Baldelli. Tampa also has a weakness offensively at catcher, so hoping that Barrett can turn it around wouldn't be a bad deal for them.
  7. I think it was a threat to bring up players and not play some people already on the roster... He specifically spoke about getting "people who can catch the damn ball." Barrett and Murton top that list. Yeah, but I think that he was also calling out Hendry. When he said, "I know what I would do," that was definitely directed at Hendry's inability to field a competitive team.

  9. The season is ending earlier and earlier every year since 04. The 2006 season was over at least three weeks earlier than this season is. You could say that, but they showed a graphic before the game started today that the Cubs were 30-32 at one point last year and 7 games out. This year we're 22-30 and 7 games out. The Cubs didn't get their 30th win last year until July 2 and were 30-51 at that point. The Cubs season was over last year after their West Coast swing in early May in which they went 1-8. Then they came back to Chicago and were swept by San Diego. That series ended May 14. I stand corrected. Still no excuse for a team with a payroll of over $100 million to be 8 under on June 1st.

I really don't think that graphic is correct. There's no way we were 30-32 at this point last year. No way. Yeah, I thought the same thing as well.

  12. This has been the most excited I've been about something involving the Cubs since 2004.

  14. That's a nice way to end it :D Now hurry up so I can watch King of Queens, TBS.
  15. it doesn't help that zambrano is a horrible pitcher. mature of him to blame his team. He's not the brightest guy in the world.
  16. Hahahaha, on ESPN 1000, they just played the Cubs radio commercial with Barrett talking up Zambrano on how great he is.
  17. Does anyone on this team know how to call off a flyball?
