    Um because no one should have WANTED him to? He's not good at that velocity. 93 is optimum for his sinking fastball. But he's young, and he wouldn't be the only one to react irrationally when he perceived his manhood as being challenged. I never said I wanted him to throw 98. I'm just saying that since he can now "supposedly" throw 98, why was it missing in the first two months of the season? I don't think anyone, including the Chicago media, wanted Zambrano to throw 98. He's just not throwing 93-95 consistantly like everyone is used to him throwing. My problem with him is that it's not just the first irrational comment he's made. He's had a long series of them and his act is just growing tiresome. How can anyone forget his preseason quotes when he said he was going to win the Cy Young and the Cubs were going to win the World Series? Like I said, it was once kind of cute when everyone thought he was going to mature eventually and when he was a stud pitcher. It's 2007 and the guy has still not matured and has struggled on the mound for all of this season (save two starts) and most of the 2nd half of 2006.

    As I've been saying now, the guy needs to grow up. It was cute when he was, you know, good when he was saying his garbage. Now that he can't find the strike zone for his life, it makes him look like a total tool. I just find this comment absolutely unreal because he was only throwing 89-90 his last couple of starts. Now since the media is questioning if he is hurt or not, he's going to throw 98? Why the hell couldn't he throw 98 for the first two months of the season? He's not all there.

    His defense at 2b is pretty bad. Yeah, but isn't that what the minors are for? His defense isn't going to get any better at 2B if he's playing in LF everyday.

    Ryan Howard got a cup of coffee in 2004 at age 24. He split his age 25 season at AAA and the majors, and stuck in the majors at 26. He was also highly productive as he moved up the minor league ladder. He didn't repeat levels and advanced at a solid pace. This Kroeger character repeated high A, and washed out at AAA after playing there in 2004, 2005 and 2006, and getting worse each year. His age matters because it's only now, as he approaches 25, that he's putting up these numbers after a demotion back to AA. It would be insane to suggest he has to be an upgrade to Murton. Torii Hunter was in the majors by 22. He didn't stick until 25, but he got numerous shots before then. You comparisons are pointless. as are most if not all of your "observations". Well, at least you explained why. just my opinion. why argue with a man who knows everything there is to know about baseball? That's a good question, but you could at least give it a shot. ps I usually like to base my opinions on facts facts are subject to interpetation. off the top of my head i can recall that goony was certain that padilla would be a better choice than marquis who was referred to as crap and not good. in hindsight, that was a pointless opinon/observation. There were many who thought Padilla was a better option than Marquis.

    Iowa wins 12-5. Nice job by the bullpen to not allow a run after O'Malley's awful outing. Henderson, Piggy, Howard, Cherry, and Bailey combined to shut out Tacoma for 7 and 1/3. The offense was great for Iowa too. Five HR's, one each by Cedeno, Hoffpauir, Kinkade, Moore, and Richie, helped lead Iowa to the win. Patterson went 3/5 with an RBI and a stolen base. Fontenot was 1/5 and Soto was 1/3 with a double.

    These last two games haven't changed the fact that we are still a very bad baseball team.

    Peoria ended up winning 7-2. Ruhlman gave up both of Beloit's runs in the 9th. Iowa up 7-5 in the 4th. O'Malley didn't even make it out of the 2nd: 1.2 IP, 7 hits, 5 runs, 1 K/0 BB's. Scott Moore hit a 2-run HR in the 3rd to put Iowa back on top. EPatt, Cedeno, and Fontenot each have a hit in the early going.

    Daytona wins it in 11, 7-6. They won on a sac fly by Jesus Valdez which scored Colvin (who had a bunt single earlier in the inning).
