    Well, the offense is finally coming back to life.

    Mesa goes down 6-0. Meyer gave up 3 runs in 4 innings after Bunton's start. Mesa only managed three hits; a double each for Andersen and Rosa and a single for Lara. Daytona had a come-from-behind win in the opener of a doubleheader with Brevard County. Samardzija's final line: 6 IP, 10 hits, 4 ER's, 1 K/2 BB's. He was able to get the win. Kyle Reynolds hit a homer in the top of the 7th that turned out to be the game winner. Dope was 2/3 with a double and two RBI's. Matt Camp was 2/4 with a double and a run scored. Iowa has come back to take a 7-5 lead in the bottom of the 5th. Felix just hit a grand slam! Murton and Kroeger each have doubles. EPatt is 0/2 with a walk and an RBI. Soto is 1/2 with a run scored.

    It wouldn't matter if the Yankees were 20 under. I just wouldn't see Steinbrenner having a fire sale.

    Just say no to Vazquez. He has great stuff, but he can't put it together. The guy also seems like a total headcase. He's one of those pitchers who can have 5-6 great innings but have an inning where he gives up 5 runs. He's done that a ton outside of his days with Montreal. His K/BB ratio this year is real good, but do we really need to add a guy who is going to be extremely inconsistant for us? Not to mention the price that we would have to give up seeing how good he has pitched the last month or so as well as the fact that he is really the only decent pitcher on the trade market.

    I'll agree with you. I'd love to see Sosa back here, but like you said, I doubt Hendry sees him as an upgrade.

    That may or may not be true. I'm inclined to believe that angle moreso than Sosa wouldn't want to come back or that the Rangers wouldn't trade him here. In fact, I can state with almost certainty that if Jim offered a half-way decent prospect, JD would help Sosa pack. How Hendry feels, I don't know. How much of wanting him gone was Jim and how much was Dusty? Has Sosa really changed? Admittedly, there's a lot of unknown there. It was pretty clear that Baker and Sosa didn't have a good relationship at the end of the 04 season. But Hendry was the one who did everything he could to force Sosa out of town. He went to great lengths to releasing that tape of Sosa leaving the clubhouse. I think Sosa could eventually be on the Cubs once again, but it's not going to be this year. Not as long as Hendry is running the show.

    Sosa is an outs machine. vs LH pitching: .333/434/580/1.014 Not a lot of outs there. But, don't let facts get in the way of a good point, ok? Sosa's not going to come here and platoon. There is no chance of that happening. Same thing goes for the gold glove 1st baseman from Colorado coming here to play RF. And before you say Sosa doesn't have a NTC, it doesn't matter. If he doesn't want to go somewhere, he'll make sure he doesn't. You don't know that. Sosa has been a model citizen in Texas and isn't playing every day there. If he stays, he's eventually going to yield playing time to Jason Botts. The GM has already said as much. He doesn't have an NTC and he'll go where the Rangers ship him or quit. Since he wants to play next season, I doubt he takes the latter. You have to let go of the idea of bringing Sosa back Vance. There's absolutely no way Hendry would bring him back after when happened a couple years ago. He'd be the perfect platoon partner for Floyd, but you're right. There's no chance in hell that Hendry is going to bring him back.

    Colorado won't trade him. They're only 5.5 out of 1st.

    How can you say Dunn is 8 runs worse defensivley then Glaus when you have Glaus playing out of position (SS or RF) with the Cubs? Makes no sense. Because RF isn't a very hard position to play. The way these weights are decided use real data of players making the transition too and from positions, so it accounts for it. I'm probably as big of a Murton fan as you'll find on this site, but he was just abysmal in RF when Lou put him out there this year.

    Simokaitis hit a HR to lead off the 9th to, momentarily, give Tennessee the lead. But Jim Henderson took the loss as he gave up 3 hits and 2 runs in the bottom of the 9th. Iowa up 1-0 in the 6th in the nightcap. EPatt led off the game for Iowa with a HR to account for all of the scoring. He also has a single. Felix, Murton, and Cedeno all are 1/3. Walrond only went 2 innings giving up 3 hits, no runs, 1 walk, and struck out 1. Webb relieved him and has been nearly perfect, only allowing 1 hit in 3 innings while striking out 4 and walking none. Boise now up 6-3 in the 5th.

    Very good start for Papelbon: 5 IP, 2 hits, 0 ERs, 2 K's/0 BB's. Peoria gets the easy 9-0 win. Tennessee is tied at 3 in the bottom of the 8th. O'Malley went 5, giving up 6 hits, 2 runs, 3 K's/0 BB's, and gave up a HR. Salas, Colvin, and Spears with the RBI's. Colvin is 1/3 with a BB.

    No, not really. Pretty bad outing for Wells tonight: 4 IP, 8 hits, 5 runs, 4 ER, 5 K's/2 BB's. Neal Cotts decided to show up tonight too as he pitched a scoreless 5th including walking 1 and striking out 1. Cedeno has an RBI single and EPatt and Murton are each 1/2. Pie is 0/2 with 2 K's and Soto is 0/1 with a walk.
