  1. Not an efficient inning for Ted, but at least no one scored.
  2. well so much for pushing us over the top, I guess Hendry would rather settle for being right around .500 and hopeing to make the playoffs instead of making a move to push us over the top. Team isn't exactly hovering around .500 anymore... check the standings you are wrong. They are yet to reach 10 over, all it takes is a 3-4 game losing streak and they are right back down there. Add a 4 or 5 game winning streak and they have the best record in the NL. Gotta look at it both ways... Having the best record in the NL, is kind of like having the best tasting poop. Id rather push us to being a top team in the Majors, but if just hopeing to make the playoffs is ok with you then thats fine. I have a little higher standards, and its right there for the taking, but instead Hendry would rather sit back and "hope". What regular-season record won the World Series last year? And it still takes two teams to make a deal. The asking prices have been ridiculous, and the Cubs don't have to give up some of those players to get a little better here or there. Bruce, what was your overall feeling of what Hendry would do on July 30, 2004? Was it anything at all comparable to what is going on this year in the case that we're only rumored to get spare parts instead of being involved in a blockbuster deal? Of course, we got Nomar the day later, but I just want to know if you think something could happen like that this year with someone like Griffey. I continue to keep the false hope alive that we can make some sort of a big splash...
  3. Interesting.... I wonder what roster move will occur once that becomes finalized. Bye, bye Rocky. Thank God.
  4. Why would we be going after pitching when our offense is clearly a more pressing need?
  5. Well, Levine is saying that the Cubs are happy with what they have. I would hope that he can't be serious because of the weaknesses that we have on offense. Now Rogers is saying something as ludicrous as Pie for Laird. So what is it? I really don't think any of these guys have a clue to what is going on.
  6. ESPN sure gives me a headache. And their boards don't make it any better.
  7. But when Jr. gets hurt could you live with Soriano-Jones-Pagan? Seriously, his issues have been burning the Reds for years. I'd still take a chance on Griffey. If you want to get better, you have to take risks. Griffey would be a high risk move, but the move could equally have a high reward.
  8. I'd still be interested in Dye, but Williams is going to have to lower his demands. Jesus, that's ridiculous.
  9. I'm sure you meant RF as well. Depending on Floyd for two months definitely won't be a smart thing to do. And like someone mentioned in another thread, I really don't think it's a coincidence that Griffey has been injury-free this season with the move to RF. I could definitely live with an OF of Soriano-Jones/Pagan-Griffey for the rest of the year.
  10. As far as the wild card race goes, the Dodgers just lost to the Rockies and the D'Backs are down by two touchdown's to the Braves. We'll be just 1 game out of the wild card after today :)
  11. BLANCOWNED! Iowa won 6-1. Cotts gave up the lone run. Jake Fox hit his 1st HR with Iowa and also doubled. Carlos Rojas was a homer shy of the cycle. Simokaitis also had three hits. EPatt, Felix, and Soto were each 0/5.
  12. Wooooooo, thank you Cardinals!
  13. Wow, those were the quickest 4 runs I've seen. Come on Pujols.
  14. http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/cs-070728cubsbrite,1,3025243.story?coll=cs-home-headlines (Edited by moderator for copyrighted content) Ugh just as I'm settling with the fact Hendry is going to not make a big move like a Griffey. Stuff like this pops out to make it sting again. :( No kidding. I know there is almost no chance, but I want to believe there is a little chance. Griffey seems real open to the possibility. I really hope Hendry makes an effort to land him.
  15. Hearing Cory Provus the last few games has really made me miss Pat Hughes. We should consider ourselves extremely lucky to have a great announcer like Hughes.
  16. This dolt on 670 (national program) says that the Cubs have an interest in Branyan. I'm not really taking it for anything, but he also says that Hendry is interested in Dunn and that the Cubs are "heavily" scouting Livan Hernandez. Once again, the guy seems like a complete idiot (as all national hosts usually are), so take it for what it's worth.
  17. I'd still rather have Dye if we can't get Griffey or Dunn. As for this subject at hand, just say no to Jay Payton.
  18. Hendry can't be that dumb, can he? Yes he can. This is Hendry we're talking about. I'm definitely not a Hendry fan, but he can't possibly trade a young player with a ton of potential just because he has one bad game. That would be completely asinine.
  19. I really don't understand why he keeps getting called up. He's been terrible this year. He has a 5+ ERA at Iowa. The question is-who deserves to get called up besides Cherry? Petrick was sent down because he was terrible on the major league level and he couldn't throw on back to back days. That's a bad combination to have, so he left. There simply aren't that many options. Also, to be fair, Cherry's been pitching much better in Triple A recently: 7 G, 9.0 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 2 BB, 10 K Better line recently. Still, I don't think he has much of a future here. I'm just hoping he's used for trade bait.
  20. Hendry can't be that dumb, can he?
  21. Rewind this to page 1 of this thread... Ahahahaha, I love being wrong.
  22. After the trade deadline comes and goes, that is probably going to end up as my new sig. It looks like a young Zambrano.
  23. I've given up on Dopirak. He needs to be removed from the 40-man. He's a non prospect in my opinion. Anyone who hasn't given up in Dopirak is living in a fantasy world. Heck, I was even surprised to see that he had over 10 HR's on the season.
