  1. I could care less about his ego. The problem is that he's ten times the baseball announcer than anyone in the Cubs booth, both the TV and radio side. I don't want to be friends with him, I just want a quality baseball broadcast. I disagree. I've never liked him, and I'd much rather listen to Len or Pat... Uh, ok. Next time you should read the entire conversation before opening your mouth...like maybe this part: he's ten times the baseball announcer than anyone in the Cubs booth, both the TV and radio side. Comparing color guys to PBP announcers is just stupid. That's exactly the point I was trying to make.
  2. I'm fine with the current TV booth but Stone's still a great analyst, IMO. I just ignore the whole 'big ego' point because almost everyone involved in professional sports has an attitude like that.

I'd still take Stone over Brenly, and that's not a slight against Bob. It sucks how his tenure with the Cubs ended and he has every right to be bitter at the Cubs organization. Wouldn't you be bitter towards a former boss of yours if you spent close to a decade working with that organization before being forced out for basically telling the truth about what was going on? I like announcers that tell it like it is. Brenly seems like he has his favorites (Theriot, Fontenot, etc) while others like Soriano can do no right. Stay consistent.
  4. The Mets have 13 hits. But in typical Mets fashion, they only have 4 runs and Johan wasn't very good tonight. I bet Valverde will struggle in the 9th before wiggling his way out of trouble to preserve the save.
  5. This seems like it's going to be a humorous, yet frustrating, second half of the season.
  6. Besides going to Death Valley, Florida's schedule is a joke this year.
  7. We lead the loss column.. IMHO were a better team than the Giants and Rockies, and we can take the Card. The of course theres the matter of playing the Phillies or Dodgers, but we'll see. I agree but I'm sure not conceding the division yet. As cliche as it sounds, Soriano and/or Bradley getting their acts together would be as good as any trade, but its just not happeneing, not on a consistant basis. Bradley can't hit from the left side. As long as Lou keeps throwing him out there and as long as he keeps hitting left-handed against right-handed pitching, he'll continue to be horrible. I have much more confidence in Soriano hitting one of those hot streaks. He's going through a little bit of one now as his average is nearing .250 and he looks more locked-in at the plate. We still need to make a move for a bat before we get a pitcher.

  9. We lead the loss column..
  10. And Pineiro will no doubt shut down the Phillies lineup the rest of the way. What a joke.
  11. Halladay or Haren would make me very happy. Other than that, not a whole lot of pitchers would make me happy at all.
  12. Who knows, maybe the Phillies will choke like we did last year. Anything can happen in a short series. They're certainly the best team on paper with Halladay, though.
  13. Closers usually suck in non-save situations, so I don't really think it's fair to compare this situation to what it would be if we were only up by 2.
  14. Dustyball might save Gregg from throwing too many pitches today.
  15. Why the hell is Gregg pitching the 9th? Stupid.
  16. Neither am I. Although I think about 90% of everyone on here thought the same way we did.
  17. All right, Lee! Please pitch Samardzija or Stevens in the 9th.
  18. That's pretty bad. Who's their PBP guy today
  19. Yeah, that's funny guys. He didn't have a prayer at that one because he sucks.
