    This series kinda scares me. I think both teams are peaking right now. Blackhawks and Flyers both have won 8 of their last 9. The Hawks have scored at least 4 goals 6 times during the last 9. The Flyers have allowed 2 or fewer goals in 6 of the 9. Hot goaltending usually trumps offense in the playoffs. Then you throw in the whole Hossa factor. I'm nervous about hockey for the first time in my life.

    I wasn't really trying to be sarcastic. Just like the positive rumors surrounding the Bulls.

    Yeah, I think Aromashodu will force his way on the field along with Bennett. I would even go as far to say I would expect him to be the opening game starter, for whatever that is worth. Here's my realistic prediction and hope: 2 WR set- Aromashodu and Hester 3 WR set- Aromashodu and Knox/Bennett outside, Hester/Knox in the slot. 4 WR set- Aromashodu and Knox outside, Hester and Bennett in the slot. Iglesias establishes himself as the primary backup outside for DA. Bennett gets in there as a backup at every position, depending on who is resting after returning a kick between Knox and Hester.

    So, the Bulls are going to get LeBron James, Chris Bosh, Hedo Turkoglu, and be coached by Phil Jackson? This is going to be the greatest offseason ever!

    The Bears were pretty big on him last year too. With Beekman playing C for Kruetz, I hear Asiata got most of the time at 1st team LG. Lance Louis was at RG exclusively behind Garza. Apparently, Kevin Shaffer is in the mix at LG also.

    Preaching to the choir, Tim. I'd also like to see Castro permanently cemented in the 2-hole for a while. With Fontenot in there, wouldn't be a huge problem (but you get Geo hitting 8th again). Theriot could still hit leadoff vs. LHPs since Fukudome won't be playing (which he should).

    My guess would be Gorzo goes to the pen. I wonder if they would consider doing something really stupid like putting Dempster back there. He's the only one that has really had success in the pen before and he has late inning experience. My guess is it's probably Randy Wells going to the pen, which would almost make less sense than Dempster.

    You let him stay in the minors all year, if need be. NO way do you put him in the pen at this point. But I'd imagine that decision is going to get tough if Lilly gets traded, Zambrano struggles again in the rotation, and Silva and Gorzo go back to being terrible.

    Loving the 11-3 GB/FB ratio along with the K/BB ratio. You strike out 9 per 9 and cause the guys who put the ball in play to beat it into the ground, you are going to have a good game. Cashner in AAA: 3-0, 19 IP, 13 hits, 2 ER, 2 BB, 14Ks, 0.95 ERA, 0.79 WHIP. FWIW, I was just looking at Strasburg's stats. DAMN! Make Cashner's line look pedestrian.

    Anyone think Pablo Sandoval is a decent comp for Vitters? Doesn't walk much but has very good contact skills and above average power? I've seen him compared to Sandoval, but I don't think that's a good comparison. I think he compares more to a Howie Kendrick or Freddy Sanchez with more power.

    Young Kinsler Vlad Hamilton Cruz is a brutal 2-6 to have to face in Arlington. All have between a .947 and 1.200 OPS in their home park. And Andrus is getting on base at will in the leadoff spot. The Cubs better have their hitting shoes on this weekend.

    The guy's career has taken place almost entirely in the second half of this decade. He had an injury that the vast majority of people say hitters should be able to return from with minimal problems. He didn't even start for Fukudome yesterday against a lefty. Seriously, what is the big deal? Using yesterday as a reason I shouldn't make a big deal out of it? That was 1 day and Fukudome still didn't start. Bottom line is Fukudome has been monumentally better this year vs. RHPs. He's been better in his career than a non-100% (you admitted) Nady has been this year. It doesn't matter if it's Fukudome or Fontenot, or Colvin, or whoever. If your better hitter is LH, play him. At this point, Fukudome is clearly better than Nady. At this point, Colvin is a better option than Nady.

    His career year was 2008, and he didn't play last year. They said from the beginning he wouldn't be 100% until June. And he still had a decided OPS advantage against LHP going into today. I don't see what the problem is. So, you value a .611 OPS vs LHPs from a guy who is not 100% healthy and missed a year over a guy who has a career .667 OPS vs. LHPs and has hit everything in sight from the RHPs he has faced all year? When you consider the defensive advantage Fukudome has, there's no reason to keep running Nady out there without even a thought of putting Kosuke in there. No we value the guy who has a .302 .376 .464 .840 career line against LH pitchers over Kosuke against LH pitchers. You might as well post Sammy Sosa's numbers against LHPs. What difference do career numbers make when the guy had a serious injury, missed a year, and still isn't 100% recovered from it. He has clearly shown he is not the same hitter he has been the rest of his career.

    Yes, it's a stupid idea on so many levels. First, having all RH hitters in a lineup allows the pitcher to get into a rhythm of seeing a guy step into the same batters box every time. Secondly, Fukudome is a better hitter than Nady, who doesn't have splits good enough to warrant starting him over a better player. He had a 450 OPS against lefties before that HR, and a 655 career OPS against them. Fukudome has shown for quite a while that he sucks vs lefties. Nady has a 200 point OPS advantage for his career against LHP. Maybe it's because he hasn't faced lefties enough. Nady's career numbers mean nothing, because he's a shadow of his former self.
