  1. Dan Connor? Really?
  2. Rumor going around is the Bears were looking for an offensive lineman.
  3. Everette Brown- 23 yo DE with pass rush potential Geoff Shwartz- 25 year old mammoth OG Mike Goodson- quick pass catching RB Brandon Lafell or David Gettis- young WRs Seem like reasonable guesses for the player.
  4. Which makes this trade even worse.
  5. This [expletive] sucks.
  6. Wow...for a guy that's done nothing. Career Numbers = 3-4 as a starter, 11 TDs, 14 INTs, 73.2 passer rating. He has 3 good starts out of those 7. 3 horrible ones. And 1 right at his mediocre averages.
  7. All 3 Atlanta OL, Colon, and Davin Joseph all still available. Best 5 OL that were on the market to begin with. Not that the Bears will get any of them....but worth pointing out.
  8. Bushrod is not very good. One of the worst pass blockers at LT in the league for the last 3 years according to Pro Football Focus. Saints OL talent was inside by far.
  9. Wow that's actually not bad. Figured he would get more than that. Still wouldn't have paid that if I'm the Bears.
  10. Olsen is not a downfield threat. Hasn't averaged 11 ypc yet in a season. But yeah, this seems like a dumbass idea.
  11. To be fair, the guys that have signed so far at positions of need for the Bears have either gone back to their former teams (Free, Yanda, Holmes, S Moss) or got overpaid (Rice). But I don't think the Bears are going to make a big splash this year, which is the norm for the Bears. I think they are really going to build up depth. As long as it's quality guys, I'm ok with that.
  12. Man, if Gunner can get some talent to come with him to IU this could turn the program completely around (assuming he's the real deal).
  13. HAHAHA. Awesome! I didn't think he'd want to beat out his brother for the QB job at IU.
  14. That's not true. Colon is a solid player. Was solid at RT. Better fit at RG.
  15. How does that group fit within the budget/cap? Is there still enough to make a big splash somewhere? Seems like they are laying low right now. Maybe they are trying to pinch the money they have available for as many upgrades as possible rather than grabbing the most expensive options available? Still need RB help, IMO. The draft didn't address WR or RB, which need more depth. It definitely would fit. I think the Bears would focus on bringing more of their guys back for depth reasons. But a big splash would be possible if the Bears don't re-sign guys like Kreutz, Graham, Anthony Adams, etc. Problem is if they go Colon and stick to their guns about not going after a big-time WR, then that only leaves DL for the big splash. Jason Babin would not be ideal, but would be a big splash. Cullen Jenkins or Brandon Mebane wouldn't break the bank at DT, but would probably be higher paid than anyone else I listed above.
  16. Bears reportedly after Willie Colon of the Steelers to play RG. Looks like the Bears are going quantity over quality (in terms of elite players). I'd be Ok with an offseason of: RG- Colon WR/KR- Smith WR- Sims-Walker LB- Durant P- Weatherford Some DL help and re-signing guys like Roach, Kreutz (or another C), Graham (who they want to bring back), etc.
  17. This person did not go to Texas A&M. I've never heard of him before. He's from Texas A&M-Kingsville. Alma mater of Roberto Garza.
  18. It might have to do with the fact that Williams' best season as a pro came with Martz as his OC. Wouldn't be opposed to the Bears signing Williams once he is released. Plus the WR coach Darryl Drake coached him at Texas. Interesting. I would be surprised if he doesn't come here at this point. Very, very opposed to this. Williams over the last 3 years has averaged 37 catches, 519 yards and under 5 TDs. And it's not like he's been up and down. He's had between 36-38 catches and between 530-596 yards each of the last 3 years. He wasn't able to put up numbers with TO there. He got passed by Miles Austin and Dez Bryant on the list of targets (along with being behind Witten also). And when Patrick Crayton was still in Dallas, he outproduced Roy Williams too as the #3 WR. And he'll be 30 at the end of the year. Roy Williams is not a good football player anymore.
  19. Because if anything, it's speed that the Eagles lack on offense/Special Teams........ They may have the smallest group of skilled position players in NFL history.
  20. Isn't that a lot? I mean at least more than usual anyway? I like the idea of inviting/signing as many as you can and hopefully you luck out with a couple of them.... Camp rosters were increased to 90 players. With all their FAs, these 26 only give the Bears 75 players set to come to camp on Friday (not including unsigned draft picks)
  21. Stout vs. the run. Not the biggest, strongest, or fastest DT in the world, but good technique, stays low, does his job. Won't provide very much pass rush, but a great teammate and one of the best locker room guys the Bears have. Not quite Pat Williams in his heyday, but would be a pretty good fit for Vikings.
  22. Davis is a FA too. Only 3 WR are signed, unless you count CFL great Andy Fantuz. The Bears have to sign A WR just to fill out the roster. But I'm with you. I'm not even asking for Rice, Holmes, or Edwards (though that would be ideal and is feasible). But there's no reason the Bears shouldn't go hard after the 2nd tier guys like James Jones, Jacoby Jones, or Mike Sims Walker.
  23. Bias or not....accurate portrayal of Bleacher Report.
  24. I heard them mention this in passing on the radio today, but they also mentioned that they have to not only sign their own free agents, but their draft class as well. I'm not sure how much that would cost, but it sounds like they'd be wanting to sign a dozen guys before they even looked outward. i've seen it broken down where they could afford to give some nice money out at positions of need (including a huge contract to sidney rice), sign their free agents and draft class, and have a bit of money left over. The Bears have a lot of cheap FAs though. Only Manning and Kreutz will require deals over 2Mil annually. I think they can afford 1 big contract this offseason, and probably a couple mid level contracts 3-5 Mil annually. And that's with re-signing Kreutz and everyone other than Manning, draft picks, and UDFAs.
  25. Moss Ochocinco Burress TO in order. The old WR is an interesting option because any of those guys will be done about the same time as Peppers, Briggs, Urlacher, and Tillman on D really start to age. It would give the Bears the chance to make a legit run in the next 2 years, while hopefully, retooling thru the draft. This is a pretty good year to draft a WR, so if the Bears feel they can develop a young WR and add a vet to make a run, any of these guys would be OK. I'd rather go with a young WR that has a chance to play with Jay Cutler for a long time, but if the Bears are going to commit to going after a wR early in the draft, then I'm ok with an older guy on a very short, cheap contract.
