  1. That's really interesting on a bunch of different levels. Emery obviously chose the QB over the coach, even though the QB only had 1 year left on his deal. Also provides some possible insight as to why Trestman aka the QB whisperer was hired. I also wonder if this means there may be some rifts between the players. You'd think Urlacher would have leaked something if there was some major friction between Cutler and some of the defensive guys (Briggs mainly). But I wonder if the Cutler/Lovie issues are the underlying factor for Hester wanting to get off of offense. From all accounts, Devin volunteered to solely concentrate on returning. I wonder if Hester just doesn't want to play with Cutler. Or if the only reason Hester was out there was because of Lovie, and he knows that Cutler knows that and was trying to avoid confrontation/getting cut. Also wonder what would have happened if Lovie got into and won a playoff game or two.
  2. I don't always comment on them, but I do enjoy reading your previews each week. Thanks bro.
  3. Blog updated with game preview. http://mr-irrelevantpgh-chi.blogspot.com/
  4. Agreed. And I don't know that this is a good return. They just picked him 3rd overall LAST YEAR. Theyre going to trade a #3 pick for a pick likely in the 20s because the Colts are an 11 win team and playing in a weak conference. The Colts aren't an 11 win team They were last year, which is what I meant. Coming off 11 wins and playing in a weaker conference this year.

Theyre going to trade a #3 pick for a pick likely in the 20s because the Colts are an 11 win team and playing in a weak conference. And they got that #3 pick by trading their 1st(#4 overall), 4th, 5th, and 7th round pick. There are some obvious concerns about Richardson, but the potential is there. Exciting trade. I thought they traded up but couldn't remember.
  6. Todays trade didn't change that.

  8. What in the mother [expletive]? Contract that dumbass team.
  9. I can probably watch all or most of a spring training game, and I've definitely paid to go to a few. I will watch a series or two of football. But the difference between October hockey and playoff hockey is so drastic that I can't even imagine watching a second of preseason. Playoff hockey is much better than February regular season hockey. I cant imagine ever watching preseason hockey.
  10. Has been for a while. Jags, Browns, and Raiders have been terrible for 10 years. They've had NE, Pittsburgh, Baltimore, and Peyton Manning's teams dominating the conference for a decade. SD and Houston have been minor factors here and there, but not even at the same time.
  11. Or that he's Mark Sanchez now.
  12. For who exactly? The....ju-ju? Side note: there is this really decent local Pittsburgh band called No Bad JuJu. The lead singer is absolutely smoking. The husband DJ'd my wedding. http://www.nobadjuju.com/?page_id=12 Picture does no justice, but it has been about 5 years since I've seen her.
  13. Denver has scored 90 points in 2 games this season. Jacksonville is on pace for 88 this season.
  14. Worst afternoon and primetime schedule in the history of the NFL.
  15. He played in the game, and therefore by definition he was a factor, I guess. But he's not doing anything special and he's not flying around making plays like he has in the past. Yeah he is. Made a big stop in the backfield vs Cincinnati. The play Right after he got ran over by Ponder he stopped him short of the 1st down (they got it anyway on 4th down). Pass deflections. They aren't as prevalent as they used to be, but its been 2 games. You can tell he was dogging it in preseason, so I hope he is just still trying to turn it up. But he's still been good enough. Not great like he's been in the past, though.
  16. the offense looks pretty solid. Franklin is healthy and seems to have a chip on his shoulder, which I love in a QB. pretty deep at RB, and seem to have some WRs who can make plays. but, i think the defense is pretty atrocious and can be taken advantage of. Mirror image of IU if u switch WRs to deep and RBs who can make plays. Our defense has looked OK vs. the pass so far. Run defense is pathetic.
  17. No, I hate the Steelers. Was pretty indifferent to them before I moved to Pittsburgh, but their fans are such a-holes that I now loathe the team. I co-write my blog with a Steelers fan. We came together for the blog's original intent of being a draft website.
  18. Yeah, running all the same stuff, with a few wrinkles in blitz packages thrown in. And yes, it's pretty much all about the DL not getting enough pressure. The LBs have probably been an improvement over last year. I thought DJ was better today. Anderson has really played much better than Roach ever did. Briggs is Briggs, though he hasn't been great so far. Seems like they are getting beat on Cover 2 a lot. Other than the 2 big plays to AJ Green, the big plays in the passing game have come either vs. Cover 2 or when the QB has been able to flee outside of the pocket. This game felt a lot like the Seattle game last year with the losing contain of a mobile QB and watching mediocre WRs pick the DBs apart on broken plays. Not getting a consistent pass rush and then losing contain when you do is a horrible habit to get into. Basically, I think they are just as good (or better) talent wise on D as last year. The front 4 has just been really bad. Back 7 has executed fine for the most part.
  19. So, how good/bad is Mizzou? If IU doesn't win this, probably no chance at a bowl game. 2-1, need to also win home games vs. Minnesota, Illinois, and Purdue. Then it's either this game, Penn St. or at Michigan St. This looks like the most winnable of the latter 3.
  20. Still have nightmares of Bettis trucking Urlacher in the snow. Cutler is 2-0 career vs. the Steelers with 2 game-winning drives in the final seconds of a tie game, fitting considering his last 2 games.
  21. I honestly thought Kyle Long had a season ending hamstring tear on that fumble return TD on the replay. Looked like he got shot in the back of the leg.
  22. If TB comes back and beats the Saints. Down 13-7. The Bears and winner of tonight's game will be the only 2-0 teams in the NFC.
  23. The Bears are 0-2 if they don't upgrade the TE position this offseason.
  24. Lot of crazy games today. This one. Buffalo just won on the next to last play. SD/Philly went to the end. St Louis almost completed the comeback vs Atlanta.
