Did Hairston's brutal defensive effort against Texas Friday night get any mention this weekend? I thought that I heard somewhere that Hairston will make some phenominal plays but boot routine plays far too often. Does this sound right?

He was there yesterday so I assume so... Would somebody please put that man out his misery ??? If he's homeless, how does he get to Arizona? Somebody has to be aiding and abetting him. I'm pretty sure he's not homeless. I think he's a windowwasher or something. Also he's the man and super cool! I heard he travels from shelter to shelter but good for him that he's living on his own. If you've ever sat near him in the bleachers, you would not say he's the man nor is he super cool. I have sat by him before and I think the woo-ing is funny. Lately he's been traveling around the stadium and spreading the woo-ing around a bunch of sections.

That's pretty much the way I feel. It doesn't bother me at all. I don't really understand why everyone gets all worked up about it.

The only people who don't have any suspicious that Sammy used are Cubs homers. I'm not sure what you guys want out of Grace and it's pretty clear that most people here are giving Grace a hard time because of their personal feelings about him. No he did more than that. He made some major implications that Sammy used steroids, especially when he said he wouldn't vote for Sammy into the HOF. The only way you don't do that is if you think he's on the juice. It appears that Grace is trying to pile it on while avoiding the issue he should answer. Grace obviously knows who some users are. Why not give us the real info? Considering the fact he didn't out any player in that interview, I don't know why you think he should have to out players in order to say that he is suspicious of Sammy. In regards to the HOF, he probably is suspicious enough to not vote him in. He gave his honest answer. Maybe he thinks that being caught with a corked bat should keep you out of the Hall. He never says that Sammy is a user. Why are you ascribing all of these ulterior motives to Grace's interview and the subsequent printing of his answers? How was he "piling on" when asked specifically about Sosa? Why not share his "suspicions" of other players? I would think someone offering me steroids would also make me suspicious. Maybe because he wasn't asked about them? Maybe he did but they weren't included in the published article? Maybe he doesn't want to call out people who don't already have massive speculation swirling about them? In other words, who cares? If he's not naming names where he has first hand knowledge, but naming names based on circumstantial evidence and speculation, that's lower than low. Where did he name names? He said Sammy is a guy to be suspicious of. He never said he knows he uses. In fact, he said quite the opposite. Yet he mentioned seeing other guys, and being offered by other guys, so he obviously knows SOME people who used. Yet he used his oppurtunity once again to slam his superior former teammate. He's a baseball analyst who was asked a specific question about both McGwire and Sosa. He answered it giving the same answer for both players. I suppose he could have given the radio host that question ahead of time just so he could slam Sosa. He is that diabolical.

Fine, if you've ever been in a fight, you could be charged with murder. Regarding your other post, the argument is what's the point of Grace's quotes. He's bringing absolutely nothing to the table with his comments. He's providing new analysis that Jay Mariotti and Skip Bayless hasn't already. Yet, somehow, because of the character of himself that he's created, he's praised for his comments, but Mariotti and Bayless are dismissed. Grace came out and said he's seen guys taking, he's been offered, then his argument for Sammy is look at his weight. Grace is either a liar or a coward regarding being offered and witnessing it firsthand. Either way it's par for the course for him. Why stop at murder? Why not go straight to genocide while you are trying to marginalize that argument by making a similar, yet wildly out of proportion, argument? What you want Grace to do? How is he supposed to prevent people from reporting what he is asked during interviews? It's not like he called up the paper and said, "Hey, do I have a scoop for you!" He gave a very general answer to something he probably didn't want to get into. I for one am not praising him for his comments but I'm not taking exception to them either.

Fair enough. My apologies if I misconstrued your arguments. I saw that your stance on McGwire was much more harsh than your stance on Sosa while their situations were similar. It initially struck me as homerism so that's why I brought it up. As far as Grace's comments go, what is there to argue with? He said that Sammy is one of those guys whom people should be suspicious of. I'm not sure many in baseball fans in America would disagree with this.

McGuire went in front of Congress and didn't answer questions about his use of steriods. McGuire played the majority of his career in the bay area with Canseco and with Giambi. Again, I don't know if he took steriods either. But there is far more circumstantial evidence for McGuire than Sammy. You are dismissing other's circumstantial evidence regarding Sammy but using other circumstantial evidence to say that McGwire shouldn't be in the HOF? That is where you are wrong.
