  1. Magic number for clinching a playoff spot ---> 39.
  2. Nah. It hasn't started freezing over yet, but I think it is cooling off down there.
  3. So, has anyone figured out where the strike zone is?
  4. What got me to start this thread was noticing a whopping EIGHT games on WGN in September. I knew WGN had been carrying fewer games, but 8 out of 25 just seems asinine. Wouldn't you think they would want to carry as many games as possible in September? Lots of night games scheduled in September and the new season for the WB Network (or CN or whatever it is now) begins. Cubs baseball is better than most of the crap WGN runs anyway, but now I'm just ranting.
  5. Is there anyone else here that would absolutely love to see a Cubs/Cardinals NLCS?

  7. Theriot took a fowl off the foot. He ran OK, but they'll probably take him out to be safe. A chicken landed on his foot? ;) Sorry. I couldn't resist.
  8. Theriot fouled a ball off his foot at about the speed of sound.
  9. I thought the Braves had completely abandoned TBS.
  10. I was looking through the schedule for September. The Cubs play 25 games that month. Of those, only 8 will be televised on WGN. Is it just me, or has WGN been carrying less and less games each year for the past few years? Any explanation for the lack of games on WGN?
  11. ESPN is simply pathetic. I do NOT want to see Brett Favre driving his Escalade. In fact, I don't even want to hear you mention his name.
  12. With all this talk about clinching, I have a quick question. Am I correct in assuming that the Cubs' magic number for clinching a playoff spot, not the division, just clinching a playoff spot, is 44? That's the Cubs' magic number over the Cards, and right now, the Cards are the best team that wouldn't be in the playoffs.
  13. You guys want to feel old? Wrigley had lights before I was born.
  14. The Cubs are going for the kill. Lou took Z out early today so he'd be fresh for his next start against the Cards.
  15. Pujols is actually a very good fielder. He just hits so damn well, people tend to ignore his fielding.
  16. This wasn't really worth its own thread, so I'll just post it here. Every team in the NL Central is playing above their pythagorean records except the Cubs. The Cubs are actually 2 games UNDER their pythag. Weird.
  17. It's better when he sings solo. He needs to ditch the wife. Meh. I didn't have a problem with it.
  18. Wayne Messmer (and his wife if she wants to join in) is the only person who should sing The Star Spangled Banner at Wrigley.
  19. Yes, I was just poking fun. You have every right to be annoyed.
  20. I will be in St. Louis with multiple Cardinals fans tomorrow. Please win, Cubs.
  21. MLB's blackout rules HAVE to change. I don't get CSN, therefore, the game should NOT be blacked out on ESPN.
  22. No one. The Cubs never had anyone with the name Maddox. ;)
