  1. Al and Dan have been pretty tolerable tonight. Surprisingly. The opposing team's announcers are always easier to listen to when the Cubs are winning. ;)
  2. oh, i don't really think so. i have a feeling that the brewcrew will be chewed up and spit out in the first round if they make it Why do you feel that way? Maybe he's basing it on the fact that the Mets recently swept the Brewers?
  3. But WGN is so awesome! Or at least, that's what their commercials want you to believe. I am getting quite sick of all the self-promotion during Cubs games.
  4. As with CubbieBum and Justin, I only get WGN, too. It's really annoying getting to watch almost all the losses and very few of the wins.
  5. I know the station that carries the game can't make any difference on the outcome, but how in the world are the Cubs 43-17 when CSN carries the game but only 30-29 when WGN carries the game? That's an absurd difference!
  6. Where's the thread for today's game?
  7. Which means they'll be on fire when we play them in the playoffs. Hopefully the Cubs get to face the Dodgers in the NLDS.
  8. Oops. When I posted that, the title said 5th.
  9. Today's the 4th. ;)
  10. I'm sorry, but we are not discussing Mark Buehrle.
  11. How dare you let facts get in the way of his argument!
  12. The Cubs should easily be able to destroy Backe. They've already done so this season.
  13. The Cubs appear to be the only team capable of beating the Brewers.
  14. Mike Fontenot has a higher slugging % than Derrek Lee, Aramis Ramirez, Ryan Howard, Adam Dunn, Grady Sizemore, Miguel Cabrera, Jim Thome, Prince Fielder, Jason Giambi, David Wright, Vladimir Guerrero, Jason Bay, Carlos Beltran, and Troy Glaus.
  15. Uh I bet Shark goes to a few  Plus, I'm pretty sure I saw Dempster at the ND-Syracuse game during Quinn's Jr. year interesting fact: Dempster was a ND baseball commit before he signed with the Rangers. I believe Ski thinks ND stands for North Dakota. Yes, ND has and will always stand for North Dakota. You do realize that if you asked 1000 Americans what they thought of when they heard the letters 'ND', maybe 3 would say North Dakota, and that's only because they live there. i'm pretty sure you're dead wrong on that. ND is the postal abbreviation, and it's definitely the first thing i think of. a majority might say stupid notre dame, but it's hardly as lopsided as you say. I didn't say the other 997 would say Notre Dame, just that virtually nobody would say North Dakota. Not that I know what else people would say, but I doubt that many people would say North Dakota. I would say North Dakota.
  16. I think the "most games over .500" thing goes back waaay before 1984 now....the other night I read we had hit the "most games over since 1945" mark with the 1930's not far away. 32 over was max in 1984 and 1969. They're now 34 over. Best since 1945. 42 over was the top in 1945. I don't think they'll beat 42 over this year.
  17. The Cubs and Phillies actually did play a 23-22 game on May 17, 1979, but the Phillies won it. http://www.baseball-almanac.com/box-scores/boxscore.php?boxid=197905170CHN THAT'S TOTALLY NEW INFORMATION TO ME. I'm actually not quite sure why I posted that.
  18. Should be interesting. http://brewersfandemonium.yuku.com/topic/15272/t/8-29-08-Brewers-Bush--Pirates-Gorzelanny-6-05-PM-CDT--39-S-H.html

  20. Both teams are still on schedule for a Harden/Sabathia match-up on September 16? Nice.
  21. Stick a fork in the Cards. They're done.
  22. and depressing to know that if we go 2-3 in the first round of the playoffs, the season is over. no kidding...all playoff series should be 7 games. You guys are making me nervous and it's not even September yet. I've been nervous the whole season!
  23. I'm not quite sure the Cubs' record has sunk in on me yet. They have NEVER been this good in my entire life. That's pretty much the case for just about everyone here. I mean statistically, they have never been 30 games over .500 at any point in the season in my entire life.
