  1. Congratulations on your new career high in home runs, ARam!
  2. Where did we open the season in '03?
  3. Excellent deduction, Sherlock! *post meant as humor. please do not take seriously.
  4. Eh, I kinda like the tradition. The baseball parade and whatever, everyone talking about how great baseball tradition is in Cincinnati, and then the Cubs put up 15-16 runs on the Reds, then lose the rest of the games in the series. What's weird is our home opener doesn't come until the next Monday, which kinda stinks. Anyone remember the last time we opened at home? That's not weird at all. This year was the first time in a while that we even had a first-week home series. Last opener at home was 2001 against Montreal. We did in 2005 too Your post can be interpreted in two different ways. I originally thought you meant we opened at home in 2005, too, which we didn't. Then I realized you meant we had a first week home series in 2005, too.
  5. My team played way better than it was in the regular season, then fell back to earth in the playoffs.
  6. that was dead on, we look pathetic, and I mean all the central How bad do you have to be to be in last place in the worst division in baseball? Pretty bleepin' bad.
  7. The Cubs are playing the Astros in Houston on August 6-9 and September 11-13. http://houston.astros.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/press_releases/press_release.jsp?ymd=20060919&content_id=1670969&vkey=pr_hou&fext=.jsp&c_id=hou Odd. Apparantly the Cubs don't play the Angels next year either. So, they'll only play the Mariners, Rangers, and White Sox in Interleague Play? Something's not right here. http://losangeles.angels.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/press_releases/press_release.jsp?ymd=20060918&content_id=1669291&vkey=pr_ana&fext=.jsp&c_id=ana
  8. Since the Cubs can beat the Cardinals, it's to give us all false hope for the rest of the season.
  9. What else can happen to the Cubs, their players, and their player's families? This is nuts. I hope she gets better!
  10. I think there was one other team that won the World Series with 3 or more ex-Cubs, but I can't remember who or when. I do know that both teams won the World Series in the bottom of the 9th of Game 7 against the Yankees. Edit: I found the article where I thought I read that. After the '01 WS, Grace compared it to the 1960 WS, won by the Pirates in the bottom of the 9th of Game 7 against the Yankees. Did the 1960 Pirates also have 3 or more ex-Cubs on the postseason roster?
  11. Why is Bynum the only rookie Dusty will defend?
  12. Cubs.com is lying to us. It's on CSN, which, for some stupid reason, I don't get.
  13. Dang. I did pretty good if I may say so.
  14. 4 hits in his first AB? What does that mean? :?
  15. I haven't seen this posted anywhere, so Moore apparantly got promoted to Iowa as he is their starting SS today.
  16. Wow. I walked 3 tonight in 4 innings. That's not typical of me.
  17. 4 perfect innings for Cain so far.
  18. Miller won't be starting for Iowa since he's been activated from the DL.
  19. Yes, the Cubs have exactly 1 walk-off win this year and a bajillion walk-off losses. Haven't 4 of their last 5 losses been of the walk-off variety?
  20. Jones is actually sitting against a lefty? Wow.
  21. The only thing to look forward to about this game is the (possible) return of DLee.
