    Some of the lowlights: Maddux encouraged him to do what was best for the Cubs He was "wowed" by the deal. Best defensive SS in the NL. Also an improving offensive player. Wasn't going to trade Maddux for a couple of average prospects. Had to be a great deal like this one. He brought Maddux in here when we thought we were close to winning (obviously we are not close now!). Did not expect to get such a good deal for Walker (nice!).

    FYI - Santo called out Walker big time on the radio also. He spoke so strongly about it that it was almost as if he has it in for Walker.

    Well said, especially the bolded part. I can't be the only one in the world that realizes it's bad if our starters throw 17-18 pitches an inning and the other teams throw 11-12. On a similiar note what are the odds that Dusty would bat a guy like Youkillis leadoff (407 obp) when he got a "traditional" leadoff guy like Crisp back from the DL. I'm going to say 0%.

    I would prefer to see Dusty fired for a manager that would stick Neifi in the 25th man seat or better yet tell Hendry he's not going to play him so get rid of him. A boy can dream..................... 8)

    The guy threw 97 pitches in 9 innings thats not even 11 per inning - thatis on the coaching staff in my book. That has to be the approach they teach as we consistently do it.

    It's unconventional -- it sets up the starter to not get the W. Not arguing against your idea, because I like it, just giving you the reason. How 'bout this - we'll fire Dusty and then we'll just pair up a coach with each of the guys that starts...................oh wait I guess that's been done. Sorry :)
