  3. Marquis is pitching horrible and seems to be on the hot seat in the rotation. Should be an easy win for the Cubs but who knows

  5. Cards will call up top prospect http://images.stltoday.com/stltoday/resources/anthonyreyespitch155.jpg MILWAUKEE -- The Cardinals will promote righthanded starting pitcher Anthony Reyes from Class AAA Memphis and he is expected to be their starting pitcher Tuesday night against the Brewers. Reyes, 23, is the top pitching prospect in the Cardinals organization. He was 7-4 at Memphis with a 3.44 earned-run average for 19 starts covering 104 2/3 innings. Reyes allowed 88 hits and 28 walks to go with 106 strikeouts. It was not immediately known what move the Cardinals will make to clear roster space for Reyes. Cards manager Tony La Russa said Sunday that he expected someone other than one of his five regular starters to pitch Tuesday night in Milwaukee. That would push Jeff Suppan back to a Wednesday start, and give Mark Mulder, Jason Marquis, Chris Carpenter and Matt Morris an extra day's rest going into the four-game series at Chicago that starts Thursday. The Cards are in a stretch of 30 games in 31 days; their final day off in August is next Monday. Reyes, 6-foot-2 and 215 pounds, was a 15th-round draft pick out of the University of Southern California in 2003. He started in Class A Palm Beach last season but was quickly promoted to Double-A Tennessee, where he went 6-2 with a 2.91 ERA in 12 starts and 102 strikeouts in 74 1/3 innings.
  6. Aug. 8: Rototimes.com has learned that Anthony Reyes (P) StL is in Milwaukee with the Cardinals and is likely to make a spot start on Tuesday night or Wednesday afternoon. Tony La Russa said after Sunday's game that he'd like to give everyone in his rotation an extra day of rest as the Cardinals are scheduled to play 30 games in 31 days this month. Reyes is the Cardinals' top prospect and is 7-4 with a 3.35 ERA and 106 strikeouts in 104 2/3 innings at Triple-A Memphis this season. His last start for the Redbirds came on Thursday, so he's right on schedule to pitch on Tuesday or Wednesday.
  7. Cardinals leaving KMOX for KTRS
  8. Cardinals to place Walker on DL Gall will replace injured slugger in Cardinals lineup http://stlouis.cardinals.mlb.com/images/2005/06/29/Jc2A64nG.jpg The Cardinals' most likely plan will be to place Larry Walker in the 15-day DL. (Scott Rovak/Cardinals)
  9. And if the Cards do that you can be certain he'll be a .400 hitter with 20 homers and 70 rbi's this half.
  10. I also am worried about Rolen (supposedly we are interested in Mora). Yeah you can tell Albert is hurting and let's not forget Edmonds who still is feeling the affects of that collision with Reggie.. Oh well. I guess it's better now than later.
  11. "According to "Inside Redbirds" on station WHBQ, John Gall is on his way to St. Louis. Gall has been one of the Cardinals' hot prospects in the past, but has been consistently passed over for promotion. This apparently means that Larry Walker will be heading to the 15-day DL, joining fellow starters Yadier Molina, Scott Rolen, and Reggie Sanders. Gall is 27 years old and was hitting .277 with 10 HR in Memphis." Let's see.. Mike Matheny to Yadier Molina to Mike Mahoney Scott Rolen to Scott Seabol Reggie Sanders to John Rodriguez Larry Walker to John Gall. Never would thought of that if you ask me. Thing is I'm not so sure the Memphis Redbirds can hold off Houston or even the Cubs..
  12. So he's batting .363 (4/11) with 2 Runs, 1 HR, and 1 RBI.. Not bad for 3 starts (He's hit #2 2 times, and #7 the other time).
  13. Yep I dont get it either. I never agreed with him coming back when he did. He shoulda went to rehab aswell. Oh well. I dont like this. I think the Cards could put out any lineup out there and the division wouldnt matter. I'd rather have them healthy in October. Rolen should still be on the DL but hey, what do I know?
  14. Sanders has hairline fracture http://images.stltoday.com/stltoday/resources/sanders155fracture071805.jpg Reggie Sanders slaps hands with Cardinals teammate Albert Pujols in the dugout Sunday at Busch Stadium. Cardinals manager Tony La Russa stared at the typewritten sheet that trainer Barry Weinberg handed him well after Sunday's game at Busch Stadium had ended and said, "That non-displaced stuff is killing us." First, it was the non-displaced fracture that catcher Yadier Molina suffered when hit by a pitch in Arizona. He hasn't played for over two weeks. But worse Sunday came the news that left fielder Reggie Sanders had suffered a non-displaced hairline fracture of the fibula in his right leg, the result of a collision with center fielder Jim Edmonds on Friday night. Dr. George Paletta, head of the Cardinals' medical staff, estimated Sanders would be lost four to six weeks, in effect taking him almost to Sept. 1. Sanders had been among the most consistent and productive of Cardinals this season, batting .281 with 18 homers, 44 runs batted in and 14 stolen bases as he approached the career marks of 300 steals and 300 home runs, something only four players have achieved. The Cardinals will promote lefthanded-hitting John Rodriguez, a 27-year-old former New York Yankees and Cleveland farmhand from Memphis. Rodriguez had 17 homers for Memphis, including one Sunday, and 47 runs batted in with just 120 at-bats while batting .342. Rodriguez had been acquired a little more than a month ago in a minor league deal with Buffalo (with catcher Javier Cordona going to the Indians' minor league affiliate), where Rodriguez had been hitting only .247 with five homers and 23 RBIs in 178 at-bats. La Russa said that the lefthanded-hitting Rodriguez, 6 feet and 185 pounds, can play all three outfield positions. A Yankees farmhand until this year, Rodriguez had 101 minor league home runs and hit .270 from 1997 to 2004. La Russa said there was "a chance" he would play Rodriguez tonight here against the Milwaukee Brewers. Rodriguez had been slugging at a .795 clip at Memphis. [More in URL]
  15. http://espn.go.com/i/mlb/profiles/players/4737.jpghttp://media.scout.com/Media/Image/23/235352.jpg KSDK is reporting that OF Reggie Sanders (.281 AVG, 18 HR, 44 RBI) is out 4-6 weeks with a broken fibula after his collision with Jim Edmonds on Friday Night. Triple A Memphis OF John Rodriguez (.286 AVG, 22 HR, 70 RBI) will be called up and Reggie will be placed on the DL.. More to come..
  16. I think it's a good comparison to be honest. I thought the same thing myself the other week. Despite the White Sox having less talent than the Cards last year their team is just relentless and is putting everyone outta their commision in the regular season. With that said, the White Sox didnt start 22-23 then go on a rampage. They've done it from the start. Same question as the Cards going into the playoffs to me is, will they be playing good at the right time? I dont know about that.
  17. Here's what he said in October of 2003.. Yeah right here The first article isnt up anymore though.. I just find this a tad interesting. It may never happen but I could see it happening.
  18. This has been talked about the last week but hasnt really gotten out that much until now.. Notes: Wagner rumors surface http://us.news2.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/p/ap/20050707/capt.pagp11107070151.phillies_pirates_pagp111.jpg Welcoming Wags? Another left-hander, however, could conceivably be making his way to St. Louis. Former Astro Billy Wagner, now closing games for Philadelphia, is a free agent after this season and has been mentioned in possible trade scenarios. Cardinals closer Jason Isringhausen said that he and Wagner, who are both All-Stars, discussed the possibility of pitching in the same bullpen. Wagner said he would relish the chance. "That would be pretty amazing," said Wagner. "Just being around him would probably make me better because of how calm and relaxed he seems when he's out there. It's always fun to talk to those guys, because I always feel like a wreck. Maybe he could help me to be better. It would be pretty interesting." [More in URL] Sweet jesus.. I've been hearing about this for quite some time now.. Who knows though.. This seems like a move Jocketty would make though.
  19. La Russa asks his All-Stars "to care" DETROIT - As their private, 18-passenger business jet, complete with a bed and a walk-in shower, sped east in the early hours of Monday morning, the Cardinals' All-Star contingent, consisting of players, coaches and one manager, relaxed and told stories. Yes, the manager held court and told stories. "It was nice we got to hang out," said All-Star center fielder Jim Edmonds, who set the wheels in motion for the plane that spirited the Cardinals out of San Francisco after they had been saddled with an unpopular Sunday night game for ESPN television. They landed in Detroit after 5 a.m. Monday. "Anytime you get around baseball people, it's special," Edmonds said. "Tony had some stories and (pitching coach Dave Duncan) was talking and they were actually talking about our team and what was going on and if we were happy. We had a good time." But, in the midst of the banter, La Russa stood up and addressed his team's stars about a salient issue that will arise tonight - the 76th midsummer All-Star Game. He noted that the National League, his league now, hadn't won since 1996, whether home-field advantage for the World Series was at stake or not. "He was making jokes like, 'Guys, can we please end this losing streak on Tuesday?'" Cardinals slugger Albert Pujols said. "He said, 'I'm sick and tired of the American League winning every time.' "You know Tony. He's a winner. That's why he's a future Hall of Famer. He never takes anything for granted. And I admire that. You're not supposed to take this game for granted. There are a lot of people watching you. There are a lot of people making a lot of money in this game, and you want to do the best you can and not disrespect this game. You have to admire that. "He has to take this game seriously. Everybody here has to take this game seriously." [More in URL] Also the article let's out some news that is interesting.. 1st Inn: Chris Carpenter 2nd Inn: John Smoltz 3rd Inn: Roy Oswalt 4th Inn: Roger Clemens 5th Inn: Livan Hernandez 6th Inn: Dontrelle Willis 7th Inn: Chad Cordero 8th Inn: Billy Wagner 9th Inn: Brad Lidge Extra Innings: Jake Peavy One Batter Pitcher/Or Not Pitch at all: Brian Fuentes Probably will be outta game: Jason Isringhausen "La Russa said Isringhausen had some stiffness and Duncan said Isringhausen really hadn't expressed strong interest in pitching anyway." Derrek Lee/Albert Pujols/DH-1B News: "I would think the trainers and the Cubs would want three at-bats tops for Derrek," La Russa said. La Russa also mentioned that Albert will probably move to 1B later in the game. (Interesting stuff there and the pitcher would occupy the DH spot if Albert moves to first. Being talked about as PH's are Luis Gonzalez, Carlos Lee, and Jason Bay.)
  20. Yes because Jimmy is faking this time too.. Not to mention he's coming off of a cracked rib, which the Cardinals lied about..
  21. If your talking about scoring on the squeeze then he's a solid runner and it was a good squeeze by Eck.. Nunes sacrificed Taguchi to 3rd if ya forgot. Then that happened.. Anyways that was beautiful execution
  22. If you wanna say that..
  23. Cards have 6 on NL All-Star team The 6 are: Edmonds, Rolen, Eckstein (Starters), Pujols (DH), Carpenter, and Isringhausen.. Congrats to the All-Stars. I cant believe Eckstein is a starter of an ASG.. Lee shoulda been the leader at 1st.. So yeah.. I doubt Bernie would be lying but I'm still gonna watch to make sure it's correct.
