His velocity was down in the mid-low 80s. I'm a bit concerned. HR numbers are down in the majors. Lilly was just helping get those numbers back up to par.

Its a bit over the top to call it horrible. Lieber can easily throw 3-4 innings regardless of what happens. But whats the point? Then he's unavailable tomorrow. Why not just let Lilly try to pitch out of it. My point is, I love that Lou manages to win every game. But once in awhile you have to accept that you're getting your butt kicked and try to look at the long term picture, which is getting Lilly on track and not overtaxing your pen. Is it that big of deal if Lieber is unavailable tomorrow? Why not get him some extended work? Getting Lilly out now will not prevent him from getting back on track. Lilly needs to go sit in a corner and think about what he did wrong.

Fred McGriff is upset at his exclusion from this list. McGriff gets a pass thanks to his actual good production with the team. And the helicopter thing with the follow through when batting was pretty cool.

But who do they replace him with? I have faith that Hendry could find someone worse. If Pie isn't going to play, then I'd be in favor of a straight Johnson/Lofton platoon. Kenny should be good for a .350 OBP against righties. BP hinted that Lofton is a phone call away. Yep, he wants to hit against Lilly too.

Just stop. I'm not trying to call you out Kyle, just the people who keep this going on. We get it, Lilly is batting practice pitcher today. I feel an epic comeback is coming today. The difference is batting practice pitchers are not being paid to get people out. Lilly is.

For what? That was clearly Jimbo's ball. Soriano made absolutely no attempt to go after it and just looked at Edmonds the whole time. Should he have held Edmonds hand while he attempted to catch it? I don't get what you're saying at all. They can do that after the game.

You can't blame those errors on him. He was probably pissed, and I'd be pissed if I was on the mound and my dumbass teammates can't perform basic fundamentals taught to them when they were 7 years old. Can't blame the errors on him, but the 2 walks to load the bases, constantly behind the batters and 3-2 counts to every hitter almost. He has no one to blame but himself. Listening to Pat and Ron, neither play by Ronnie or Aramis would have been an out, just the second run on each not scoring.

My crush on Nomar was pretty instant too, but that was based on prior reputation. As far as going from zero to crush, I'd say fuku is the quickest. No kidding. The guy was an INSTANT fan favorite at wrigley. Of course, when you take your first MLB pitch for a double that will happen. But, honestly, anytime anyone even says his name half of the bleachers stand up and start bowing. And I'm pretty sure more people now own those Fukudome headbands than own cubs hats. I need to get one of those. Get one for me, too !! :wink: I will be at Wrigley in a week or so. That is one of the first things I am going to look for.

well after Fielder gets hit for the second time by a lefty, I am done. I am heading home and I will hold out a small hope that the Cubs are playing better baseball by the time I visit Chicago in late April. -
