  1. There must have been no doubt that the ball did not cross the plain on the fumble
  2. I agree. I was yelling for ND to get the snap off as quick as possible.
  3. It was close, but if it was in doubt I think they would have reviewed it.
  4. Davie has done a few ND games in the past few years. It is pretty funny sometimes. He always finds a way to stick in how he recruited someone if they make a good play, or how he taught them how to execute better. Right now Brady is not a 1st rounder IMO. After next year he will be right up there, if he keeps progressing as he has through his career. He is #8 on the ESPN heisman watch though.
  5. I'm glad USN is gonna win. As much as I want them to lose, I would rather they be undefeated coming to SB in two weeks. Now if only ND can get past Purdue...
  6. Did I read correctly that the restaurant will accessible on non-game days, and if so will that include the off-season. That would be pretty neat. I am sure a lot of you have the "celebrations of the friendly confines" book. The last page is a picture from inside Wrigley with everything covered in snow. It would be cool to be able to see that while you eat.
  7. I also can't imagine an average fan sticking around for long if they do stumble upon this site. I too consider my self a above-average fan (obsessed if you ask my girlfriend) and I generally stay out of the Baseball Discussions because they get pretty in depth. There is a lot discussed that I know nothing about, mainly the rules for moving players around and a lot of salary considerations. I could talk Cubs all day, but when people start mentioning rules surrounding drafts and minor leaguers I get lost, and my posts would probably detract from the conversation (as this one may). For me this is more educational than anything. Can't say I learned a lot about the Cubs, but I have learned a lot about baseball in general. However someone who doesn't truely love the game and/or the Cubs will probably not stick around to long. EDIT: This may have not really pertained to the conversation. Made more sense when I was writting it. Sorry if it was a pointless post.
  8. While discussing soccer, has anyone seen a flip throw-in before. I kid on my HS team did it and it was amazing. He would get a running start flip over by placing the ball on the ground and then come up throwing the ball. Any throw-in within the 18 we treated like a corner kick. It was amazing. He could throw it across the width of the field. Every time he did it, the opposing coaches would throw a huge fit but it was legal because both feet were on the ground. Maybe it more common than I think, but in my 15 years of playing/reffing soccer he was the only person I ever saw do it. I tried a few times but always fell on my head. Also I take it a few here used to be/are keepers. That is what I played back in my soccer days.
  9. I think the players union is the best possible proposal. there is a jump of over 3x the games suspended between one and two violations, and I think it is pretty obvious that the Selig's suggestion would be a lifetime ban. Congress' is just to extreme, especially considering the amount of substances out there that are not illegal now but may be soon. Just not enough room for honest mistakes IMO. The PU addresses this probability in a fair way. A harsh, but not too severe penalty for the first offense. Second time and you will miss roughly half the season. (Can't really use the I didn't know excuse more than once). Third time you just don't get it, and don't deserve to play. I think if Congress sees lifetime ban as one of the penalties they will be satisfied.
  10. Thoughts on this have been expressed. http://www.northsidebaseball.com/PremiumForum/viewtopic.php?t=25400
  11. I think the sad thing is that I am not even suprised or upset. It has become par for the season. I wouldn't even be suprised if I was told that the bases were loaded, 0 out, and 3 pitches later the game was over. All I can really say is it has been a long year. :x
  12. Missed the game (which may be a good thing). Details?
  13. C'mon man, we all know how important team chemistry is.
  14. I would love to see WVU win (just to piss of my friends) but VT has looked incredible. I was shocked at what they did to GT. VT is favored by 10.5 so I hope things continue the way they have been. I will definately be rooting for WVU. Hopefully VT is feeling a little too confident after last week.
  15. Everytime I listen to ESPN Radio some is going on about how Louisville will win the NC, and I felt with their schedule they very easily could. I was suprised how far they fell in the rankings after Sat. Do you think they will still win the BE and make it to a BCS game? I don't know who else will could win. Maybe WVU?
  16. I think for at least the rest of this year, no one is going to show up for the Huskies. They have little talent, Ty is average at best, and he doesn't have the right staff helping him. While I could see them improving down the road, IMO they are one of the worst teams in the NCAA this year (in a BCS conference).
  17. I really hope they don't. Maybe worry wasn't the right word. How about no one they won't be favored against.
  18. Maybe underrated isn't the right word (definately not most underrated), but I have always liked Khalil Greene.
  19. Notre Dame at Purdue. Big game. If the Irish can win they will be 4-1 going into a bye week with USC coming to town the next weekend, which is also the start of a 5 game homestand, with no one that should be a worry except Tennessee (and USC). Purdue is favored by 3 I believe, and the Irish are gonna have a hard time. Neither has a defense worth much so I look for a shootout. May come down to who makes the least mistakes.
  20. No Nomar? Would Cedeno have had a chance to prove himself when he was hurt, and won the job? Also you don't put Dubois anywhere? I think that perhaps Cox would have stuck with him. Where are Macias and Perez. Surely the Cubs couldn't perform w/o them. I agree. I also think that if Mezzone had come with him, Hill would be in the starting rotation, and who know's (I hesitate to say this) Hawkins still in the pen, setting up Dempster (or Fox).
  21. Great story. Here's a fun game: What do you think Cox's lineup would be if he were the Cubs manager this year. You can include anyone who was in the system at all this season.
  22. I wish that would have been the game I was at. I limit the money I bring in because I know how I can get from time to time while in the bleachers. That little sunscreen excursion put a real damper on things. Made up for it at Murphy's though
  23. I was at a game this summer and my girlfriend, who is a redhead w/very fair skin forgot to bring sunscreen. Around the 5th inning you could see her turning bright red so I went to get her some sunscreen...$15.00!!! It was for a small bottle also. I know everything is expensive there but 1 small bottle of sunscreen>2 oldstyles, thats just not right. Also I hope they don't go shirtless like Harry used too. :-s
  24. I haven't really heard a lot about Rothschild being replaced. What are the chances this will really happen, and was this in an article I missed (or a thread) or is this just a wishful thinking thread; much like the threads discussing who should replace Dusty? If Rothschild does go I would love to see them go after Mike Maddux. Or Mazzone (which i know would not happen but... ) Didn't the Yankees try to get Mazzone this year, and he said he would go if the Braves would release him and in return the Braves extended his contract and gave him a raise?
  25. Does anyone think that Dusty does stuff like this just because "he can?" It is getting to the point where there is no possible way to rationalize his actions other than stubbornness, and not willing to admit he is wrong
