  1. I get it, and it is probably the right move, but bringing in a defensive replacement for the guy who possibly just saved the game defensively is a bit weird.
  2. That was my initial thought as well, but is that actually true? It is 8 home games a year plus a handful of preseason/postseason games. Compare that to 81 games on the south side. Sure, the Bears have a MUCH larger fanbase, but does that translate to a larger overall economic impact with only 1/10 the number of games?
  3. One problem I think the state has is, how do you tell the Bears yes and White Sox no? So whatever they end up doing for the Bears, multiply that times two. Which is why I think they are ultimately going to end up refusing to fund either of the projects and the Bears will still end up in Arlington Heights. Where the White Sox end up, I have no idea and don't really care.
  4. Not at all. Just a freak injury I guess. He could probably run into the wall at that speed 10 times and be completely fine 9 times out of 10.
  5. I'll grant you PCA, but hopefully Mervis can hit and Canario should be decent against LHP. Calling them automatic outs is a bit harsh.
  6. If he could have caught the damn ball on the previous play instead of losing it in the sun AGAIN, this never would have happened. Ok, maybe easier said than done, but annoying nonetheless.
  7. The Bulls are going to try really hard to trade Lavine. For real this time! Until they discover once again he has no value and decide the safest course of action is to run it back again with one or two new role players on the roster to shake things up. I will be shocked if they do anything aggressive or creative. It will be more of the same, as is always the case.
  8. Like clockwork, the Cubs are going to head out on the road right when it starts to warm up again.
  9. I'll be ok with the Cubs never attempting to steal a base again.
  10. I'm surprised about the Cooper move. He isn't an exciting player by any means, but I would say he has been about what he was expected to be and did fine in a limited role. I think this move says more about the Cubs' confidence in Busch than anything else. Cooper was insurance in case Busch didn't take off right away, but clearly Busch isn't going anywhere. Plus, with Wisdom also able to fill the right handed corner infield role, Cooper became even more redundant. I hope Mervis has success this time around, He earned another shot, but I still don't think the Cubs have a lot of faith in him as a Major League player.
  11. Ideally though, if Brown isn't starting, it would be nice to have him pitching high leverage innings at the back end of the bullpen rather than having him handcuffed to Hendricks.
  12. Ok, that was scary. Swap a few words, and we posted the exact same thing at the same time.
  13. You can go back to sleep. There is no game today.
  14. That song they play in the transition with the Megalodon camera shots cracks me up. It's like they asked an AI to "create a song that sounds like Jump."
  15. I know, maybe it's not fair, but to me that's an error every time when you are camped under ball and can't make the catch.
  16. I agree in a vacuum, but this is what we have seen start after start with Hendricks. Guys are putting the ball in play and finding holes, and for whatever reason they often come in bunches. There is still likely some aspect of that being poorly timed bad luck, but how long can the Cubs try to wait that out? Well, at least we're getting the BABIP luck on our side now.
  17. But I think we're beyond the point of chalking it up to bad luck. He is just getting hit way too often, hard or not.
  18. 4th inning, here we go. Hendricks giving them cookies.
