  1. Hey, guess what player ranked immediately behind Murton in GB/FB ratio last year in all the NL? Jacque Jones. I guess he becomes a light hitting OF too... since your only qualification for that seems to be that he "can't hit past the infield." And his arm is too inaccurate to be a RF and his range is too poor to be a CF. That pretty much means he can't play anything else besides LF. Just ask any Twins scout. Did I say anything about Jacque Jones dickwad? Jones at least has some HR power and is better defensively in RF. He can actually get to the balls and catch them. yea, his arm Sox. If it was up to me, I'd get another RF. But Murton isn't the answer. Junior!
  2. What are you talking about? http://www.artistdirect.com/Images/Sources/AMGCOVERS/music/cover200/drd600/d639/d63923bm6i5.jpg
  3. So that purported cycle for Pagan today, would that have been a strikeout, groundout, flyout and the infamous bunt-foul strikeout?
  4. Unless he's Bonds, being big doesn't make taking a baseball off the back of the head any easier. I didn't complain that much when I was hit with a bat. hard to complain when you're unconcious A magician never reveals his secrets. For fear of being banned by the alliance? If that happens I'll just have to make an album with Franklin. Either that or take part in a series of escalating dares and get married to Amy Poehler. Plus there's always GOBIAS, Inc I just spent all of March rewatching my Arrested Development DVDs... but I'm getting a real urge to start back over with Season one later today. Cubs aren't providing enough laughs today?

  6. I did smart off at Nic Jackson when he came to see if I was ok. Does that count? Nah. I real man charges on the field and punches him in the grill... Like this guy? http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/baseball/news/2003/06/19/cubs_reds_ap/t1_fight_ap.jpg nah, like the father/son sox fan tandem Ah yes ... the LIGUUUUUUEEES. Classy. http://www.cbc.ca/gfx/topstory/sports/kcfanattack020920.jpg

  9. but, but he's carlos beltran jr.! And has beaten Jose Reyes in a footrace. Pagan will hit for the cycle today Pagan will also deliver a baby in the bleachers and teach it how to beat Jose Reyes in a footrace all during the seventh inning stretch
  10. It's Pie. Chicago Tribune / AP story just confirmed it. http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/cs-070510cubspie,1,5313271.story?coll=cs-home-headlines
  11. They love Blanco as a backup catcher with more natural defensive ability than Barrett, i.e, he can throw runners out. Similar argument with Izturis. DeRosa wouldn't be dealt so soon unless Hendry is willing to swallow his pride on what is a bad FA signing. Eyre ... can't imagine his value is too high right now, like J Jones. Besides, it sounds like Pie is close to heading back down anyway. Not sure Lou is in agreement with injecting youth and, consequently, a less-experienced group of hitters for this mercurial offense we have. OT - where in Aurora are you from? any chance you went to West High? dejavu braskey but i am originally from the south side of chicago. Yeah, I remember now. Knew I had this conversation previously but thought it was on the Bulls RealGM forum.
  12. Not disagreeing with the value, but I just don't see Hendry doing it this early in the season. Putting him out there so soon may signal to other GM's that Hendry's eager to deal DeRosa and Hendry wouldn't receive fair value. Unless he fits a need for another team, in which case Hendry wouldn't have to reach out to gather interest at all.

  14. Not really a surprise. They don't lose to bad teams. You would think that their sheer proximity to the Cubs might make them vulnerable to the contagious inexplicably losing ways of the Cobs.
  15. Hope you're not an english teacher A very tired and irritated English teacher that doesn't give a flying fu---- right now. haha so this is what i have to look forward to in a couple years yep. Forward to what? The inexplicably frustrating Cubs? :pukel:
  16. Regardless of whoever wrote that email with the Vegas rumor (absurd), it's Carrie's job to select good questions, whether they be provocative, topical or some nature of "lighthearted material / good p.r." Including such a question is lazy.
  17. come on, you know it will be. It seems like it always is. I think Bonds has already gone on the record stating that if he's close to the record while on a road trip he will wait until the Giants return to SF to eclipse the HR record. Classic weasel that he is, he won't have to be showered with "boo's" and instead be serenaded by the delusional SF fans. I'll be in the bleachers for one of the Giants games in July. Hopefully he won't be close so he plays and we can all deride him for the loser that he is.
  18. In lieu of trying to explain it, let's allow the Cubs' performance speak for itself. We. Are. Pathetic.
  19. You know what, I'm feeling it also. Sori goes 3/4 with a HR, 2B, and 3 RBI's! Indeed he should. Soriano in spanish means May Day.
  20. Out of curiosity, who takes Quinn over Grossman? Consider if there is or isn't any "Super Bowl window" in the equation. Discuss.
  21. how'd the inning end? walked out of my office and missed the audio feed. thanks!
  22. wonder where all those guys are going to hit in the lineup. My guess would be: Soriano/Theriot/Lee/Ramirez/Barrett/Murton/DeRosa/Pie. At least Pie will get to work on hitting breaking balls in that spot. But seriously, whatever works at this point ... please.
  23. I think ESPN realized how worthless Insider is because they now allow only "Insider" subscribers to read certain columnists ... It's ridiculous.
  24. You trying to switch from suck to blow? Fantastic reference. "I'm surrounded by ... " - Lord Helmet
