    I don't think anything will change the minds of the committee as it currently stands. What needs to happen is for the Hall itself to change the makeup of the committee. A little hope: Bruce Levine reported that the Hall of Fame may look at the makeup of the veterans' committee next month during their organizational meetings.

    Olberman's a huge baseball fan. He was on Conan last week talking a little about the upcoming season and displayed a few 'unique' baseball cards he collects that had players flipping off the photographer discreetly, posing with an open fly and one holding a bat with an inscription on the bottom that can clearly be read as "f___ face". Wonder if he'll talk about this on his "Countdown" show tomorrow. Sadly, I don't see any objection by fans or media changing minds on the veterans' committee. Not that they can't change their minds, but little, if anything, will influence them.

    Anybody ever buy into the MLB tv option as opposed to Gameday Audio? My Gameday Audio renews yearly, but I'm contemplating switching to the MLB tv package. Anyone know if they use local telecasts, i.e., are Len and Bob commentating similarly to Pat and Ron's broadcasts on Gameday? Thanks! EDIT: P.S., nevermind. Let's play some ball. I'm actually starting to be productive at work, and it's frightening.

    I'm hopeful it's this year. Santo's health is a concern. We need a Wrigley Field celebrate for Ron's induction with him leading the 7th inning stretch and waving to a standing ovation.

    I imagine ebay has some kind of contractual language with respect to time of delivery expectation on purchased items, but that would probably only be brought up in an extreme case where the seller has greatly exceeded reasonable time lines. It all depends on the buyer, too. If you state they won't be available for delivery until mid-March, then that's the understanding a buyer must assume when committing to the purchase.

    I was thinking the same thing. The photographers are playing golf. Or Scott Eyre ate them. With Rusch gone, is Eyre the new whipped cream boy? Yes. Where are the photoshop wiz kids to create an appropriate revision of a movie poster of "The Air Up There" with our new whipping boy?

    ESPN1000 reported that there are incentives tied in to effectively raise the figure. The $12M figure reported could just be base salary.

    Bob Babich is the linebackers coach and will likely be promoted to DC. Not a shocker, but still a little surprising that the Bears told Chico to take a walk. Stays in line with their M.O. to not overpay. (Hearsay disclosure) From what it sounds, Babich is Lovie's guy anyway and almost left to go to Buffalo with Jauron but stuck around knowing their was a good chance he could be elevated to DC in the near future. Chico wanted a more blitz-oriented D. He appears to have only the Chargers' DC position available to him or else face sitting out a year or going to coach at a university. Aaaaaaaaaaand ... speculate!

    Probably Wade Miller. Texas boys hanging out, often I imagine. Saw them biking on the lake path over the summer when I was running. There was a Cubs game being played at the time. They were not in it. Disappointment ensued.

If Wood had trouble getting out of a hot tub imagine how he'd handle the stairs leading up to the IU La Bamba's after a Hairy Bear. Priveleged post, I know. Dumb question at this point, but where are all these pictures being cut/pasted from? How many sites? Thanks.

    Not necessarily. But, that's probably what will end up happening in this case. I'm just not sure how much they really want to backload another contract. I wonder if a signing bonus could help smooth things a bit? Nice signing bonus would be a delicate touch that could get the deal done. Forgot how arbitration would affect this. My mind is slipping. I blame the lack of photos of Cubs at '07 spring training.

    I'll bet there will be a couple of them to match Zito's deal. If the Cubs do make this signing Mr. Hendry will have a lot of loose ends tied up by March. I'm also wondering if this deal happens if will do something with Jones? What would this type of deal put the Cubs 2007 payroll at? I don't think it will do anything this year. Zambrano would still be payed out per his current contract. The extension kicks in next year. Right?
