  1. $ are not an issue for me, i would take on a whole contract if the player gave us a major upgrade.
  2. Why not trade for vasquez and keep him??. If we are going to take on the $$ why not trade for him and one of Tracy/Green?.
  3. I am amazed by comments from hendry at the winter meetings. He said that the main areas we had to improve was the bullpen and top of the order. How totally idiotic and short sighted is it to presume that 2 vets in the pen and an over rated CF will solve everything?. What about the depth at SP and the OF shambles? He could of led off with either murton or walker and put another bopper behind D lee and A ram. How many times did we see lee get on base teams pitch around aram and no one drive them in. If as it appears we are going to have a budget OF again why not throw some money at millwood?Next year we could be looking to add 2 starters , think ahead, as i have said many times hendry is a reactive not proactive GM.
  4. While i pay little attention to the so-called baseball experts a broad spectrum seem to be agreeing we have had a poor offseason check out msn.foxsports.com winners and losers article........
  5. Is anyone really starting to get worried? for me he's blown it and i want hendry, baker and MacPhail thrown in to the lake or i'll settle for the southside!!!!
  6. I honestly don't believe we have enough talent on the books to make a trade that will vastly improve the team. If you deal hill, pie, guzman, walker williams etc you are really stretched if injuries occur etc. He should of been in on that Was/ Tex deal instead of glowing about JP.
  7. Its so frusrtating though Cuse, Plan A NEVER works out with Hendry and he is always down to plan Z by Jan and we are left with people like burntiz and jones playing everyday.
  8. You can quote me on this. I would rather give CPatt a chance to rebound in RF than sign any FA RF that is available.
  9. This is a joke? its April 1st? Oh no its just another off-season watching this inept org make itself worse. He has blown it again. Totally out of ideas and clueless how to make us better.
  10. gooney i agree with all you said except clement. He did an excellant job in the rotation when prior and wood were hurt he held us togethter and received little or no help from our pathetic offence.
  11. I suggested vidro on a thread awhile back and got the impression his health was too risky. I dont see us trading for a MI , if we were interested in doing this why were we not in the hunt for castillo from florida who would of been perfect behind furcal/pierre?.
  12. This is never going to happen but i will comment anyway. If i'm JH i would look at the situation this way........ 1. I have 1 year left along with baker to make an impression and put a winning team on the field. 2. The cubs farm just doesn't seem to produce good/great major league position prospects ( Murton is from Boston and cedeno will be ruined by dusty). 3. Putting the above factors on the line combined with the fact that i have a boatload of cash and that D Lee is a FA next year and Aramis can opt out i do the following. Offer Baltimore any 3 prospects from our system ( including Pie, Hill) and J Will or Cedeno along with Patterson. The offer is so high because tejadas contract is so reasonable. I know you mortgage the farm but if you can get Bradley and play walker at 2nd that lineup could be potent for at least 3 more years. You then have options next year with possibly both Wood and Maddux off the payroll to re-shape your pitching staff. I respect everyones opinion on here and you are prob all screaming what an idiot i am but would you complain about this for opening day? 1. CF JP 2. 2B T Walk 3. 1B D Lee 4. SS Tejada 5. 3B Aram 6. RF M Bradley 7. LF M Murton 8. C M Barrett. JH will never do it but i think some of the points i've made are at least reasonable. I love following and watching our prospects develop but isn't the whole point of the farm to help the big club win??. This move along with finding pitching for next year definetely does that.
  13. bloated howry and eyre contracts?? check out what the tigers paid today for a 37 and 41 yr old pitcher
  14. I would also be alot more worried about the state of the cubs if furcal said we weren't comitted to winning etc but he didn't did he because he was all about the $$$$
  15. There is absolutely no evidence other than offman that furcal invited the cubs to bid again. By all accounts the braves and cubs were done after furcals dinner date on the friday.
  16. Hey at least when neifi sucks he cost me $2.5, when furcal slumps or reinjures his shoulder next year lets see what la thinks of that $13.
  17. What a waste of air time. translated george has nothing on what jh will do next so goes back to bashing the cubs. I don't care that we could of had him for a little more. we made a very fair offer he used us good riddence happy with ronnie at ss.
  18. The biggest readon of all to take Wilkerson over pierre?? VALUE. We have given 3 prospects for a guy we may only have for a year? 1 year of slappy and then what?? back to the abyss........
  19. Anyone who comes back with the 'speed kills' quote from dustbag can stick it because pierre will kill more rallies than he will ignite.
  20. Last year I believe he played hurt in the worst Hitters park in baseball. You question his power? He dinged 32 the year before. His OBP would look sweet in front of D lee and Aram not to mention the amount of fastballs wilkerson would get to demolish.
  21. i think one of the main arguments people have here about Pierre V Wilkerson ( Apart from Jps rubber arm , awful range, bad routes to the ball, literally no power and inability to walk) is value. We could of had Wilkerson for a number of years and look at the numbers OBP wise Wilkerson would of made more sense than Pierre in CF for me as anumber 2 hitter.
  22. Just thinking about this while getting lunch. How nice would Vidro Look in front of DLee and Aram behind Pierre. Here is the Logic, you are taking a risk because he is having surgery and may not be back for opening day. However what an upside if it pays off. If Washington would take Patterson straight up for Vidro i'm signing up both teams take a flier and we have the money to take the risk.
  23. when asked why he doesn't value t walk, he said although he values t walk if he can make cubs better he will. translation walker to la for bradley.
  24. could he of been any clearer to dustbag?? Let cedeno play!!!!
