  1. I'm not a big Sweet Lou fan either. Too similar to Baker. What about giving Chris Speier the interm job and see how he does?
  2. GO WOOD!!!!! I'm going to the game on the 17th so I'm hoping everything goes well tonighT!
  3. I think we lost the game already....
  4. This is what losing teams do. Either the offense, defense, or pitching blows it and it ususally is all three with the Cubs. Don't you dare forget the management Well of course. That should be at the top of the list.

  6. Last year in Des Moines, it was a blast to stand right by the bullpen when he was warming up before the game. When he got loose and let go, a few fastballs were very hard to see. You could see him release, then Soto's glove would pop. Then again, I had a few tallboys in me by that point, so my eyes could have been a bit slow. It's always fun to watch Kerry pitch when healthy. When he's on he makes hitters look like little kids.
  7. Dude that is a great post! You hit the nail on the head! We are a big market team that never goes after the big names and always settle for middle of the road free-agents coming off "off years". Every off season it seems we are always a player away.
  8. The most shocking thing is after today we are only 5 games below .500. Seems like we are 10 games...
  9. This has been happening for the past 3 years! The same bad baseball over and over and over again.
  10. That's the only thing you can do...And drink alot. That's for when I get off of work tonight...or maybe a little during. I'm bartending. Do you think I can try to sue the Cubs for trashing my liver and mental anguish? I think I have a case...
  11. At least we have the Kerry Wood game tonight to look forward to. Yay!

  13. Except building a team with good OBP and power, and have a manager that knew how to use his players to get maximum performance. But yeah, other than that, we've tried everything. Agreed! Let's put it this way no matter who is the manager unless you get a GM that understands how to build a team it won't matter... Come on...a better manager could get this team to play better. This team has talent. Baker puts them in the position least likely to succeed, and shockingly, they don't. For the hundredth time, Dusty asked for these players! Lets get a manager in there that can be successful! Hendry has an extension. He's not going anywhere. There's no reason to be saddled with a bad manager because of that. Where do you see talent? What change managers and all of a sudden Pierre hit's over .300, Todd Walker shines as a number 3 hitter, and our 3 rookie pitchers start to pitch lights out. This a a bad team! Maybe not this bad (in the last two weeks) but a below .500.
  14. He's already manager. And Cookie (the clown) is our pitching coach.

  16. Why? Just because Ozzie played for the Sox doesn't mean that's the answer. Francona didn't bleed Red. McKeon might be an old dude but he didn't win because of his knowledge of South Florida history. Same with Brenly in Arizona. Saying the Cubs need a manager that understands Chicago and the history is absolutely ludicrous. Okay let's get another laid back California dude....Why is that Ludicrous? Wouldn't you want a manager that has pride for his town and team? Didn't Dikta have that? Doesn't Ozzie have that? Heck this team has tried everything else! And who would you suggest be the manager? I would've said Giardi but he's taken.

The ESPN 1000 radio team had him on the Monday morning show and asked him lots of questions about whether Dusty is a good manager. Why would they ask a football coach about baseball is beyond me, but what did he say? That Dusty knows Chicago and will therefore turn this team around. Yeah right! LOL!
  18. Eyre looked good. Nice easy inning for him.

  21. I couldn't care less if the next manager "knew" Chicago or what it was like to be a Cubs fan. I don't need a fan managing, I want to see a smart manager. But you need manager that understands this city and the Cubs history. You need someone with pride. Look no further to the south side and you have a manager that bleeds with Sox pride and instilled that into his players. I tell you what a manager that knows the Cubs history would've freaking went out to talk to Mark Prior after the bartman play that's for sure.... Yep. The Sox won last year because Ozzie knows Chicago. It had nothing to do with pitching, defense, or homeruns. Duh! You know what I'm talking about. Ozzie is their team leader. He gave that team attitude.

  23. What happened? He and roberts had some words after roberts scored. Resulted in warnings. Didn't Barrett do the same thing in 2004 with the Astros' and that eneded up firing up the 'Stros to the playoffs? You would think he'd learn. I'm pretty sure the Cubs choking, and Dusty being an awful manager is the reason we didn't make the playoffs that year. Blaming Barrett is about the dumbest thing I've heard. I'm not blaming barrett, but that game was a turning point for the Astros. I didn't say that's why the Cubs lost that year. They lost because they were one of the dumbest teams with talent I've seen.
  24. If they are going to fire Baker get a manager that knows Chicago and the Chicago Cubs. It's a shame that Giardi got snatched up because I'd love to give him a shot. You need someone that bleeds Cubbie blue that understands what being a Cub fan is like.
