  1. Yeah, Year 1 sucked, and I'm worried about the future of the franchise.
  2. Is this just your opinion or do you have a source? If true I wanna puke.
  3. Girardi would cost too much to convince to come here. Sandberg is a slam dunk. It's great for marketing and the majority of clueless Cubs fans want this. Sandberg's not a slam dunk. He's only a slam dunk if the team is a slam dunk to be good. I don't think he meant that Sandberg was a slam dunk to be a successful manager, just that it would be a slam dunk from a PR standpoint. Yes, that's what I meant.
  4. I don't think it'll be tough at all. I mean how many fans are clamoring for Quade to get the job? What's the point of Ryno being a heir apparent bench coach? Just cut to the chase and hire him if you wanna hire him. Because he has no experience at all coaching at the major league level. It would be perfectly reasonable to make him a bench coach with an unofficial understanding that he's likely next in line as manager. I will say, I don't really invision much difference between how Quade has managed and how I imagine Sandberg would probably manage. If the choice comes down to those two, I don't think it really matters. Is he going to really learn anything from Quade being a bench coach under him? Make Sandberg the manager if that's who you want and hire a strong bench coach for him.

  7. Sandberg will be our next manager. I'd be shocked beyond belief if wasn't.
  8. LOL!
  9. I'm just glad nobody has a problem with booze where I work.
  10. That was very predictable.
  11. 2/3 so far today. .318
  12. That doesn't seem possible.
  13. So Fredi is Hendry's number 1 choice. I love it, but I don't see him not taking the Braves job. http://www.suntimes.com/sports/baseball/cubs/2660360,CST-SPT-cub01.article Here's hoping that friendship pays off.
  14. It really sucks for whatever fan base they have and for baseball fans in general. Bummer.
  15. I'm hearing he's set to sign the day free agency starts. 4/48 with a 5th year player option.
  16. I wish the cubs had something to fight about.
  17. GO TMAC!!!!!
  18. This sounds gung-ho to me.
  19. I think you were the only one that was gung-ho over the signing.
  20. Yeah, I didn't see a big market team like the BEARS going with a first time head coach in Mike Ditka. What were they thinking ??? Ditka was an assistant coach for 10 years before getting hired as a Bears coach. Sandberg has spent exactly zero years doing any kind of major league coaching. I honestly don't know the answer to this, but who was the last major league manager that was hired without ever having been an assistant coach of some kind in the majors? I don't know. Would a 2-3 year stint coaching on a major league really make a difference?
  21. If they are trying to rein in salary, I doubt they go for a high profile manager like Torre or V. I'm convinced it's going to be Ryno.
  22. Knowing how much Lou got, of course he's interested in managing the Cubs.
  23. Yeah, it's been a great rebound year for Soto.
  24. By predicting Soto is going yard this month? Huh?
