  1. He and Brian Giles should form a club! Agreed!
  2. Why do you want Maddux for two more years, let alone one more year? Why because he's still good for at least 12 wins a year and I like the repoire he's built with some of the kids like Marshall and Marmol. I'll take back the two year deal and only offer him 1. 2 is a bit much. Zito will not come to Chicago. He's a Cali type of player...
  3. Will Prior be back for Rusch's next turn in the rotation, or no? They said during the game yesterday that if all goes well in his AAA start tomorrow night, he could start this Sunday against Detroit. I'd rather have him pitch two more starts. I don't want another Kerry Wood can't make a 5 day start. Make sure he's ready... I like our future: Z Marshall Marmol Prior (if healthy) Maddux (I hope they lock him up for two more years) I like the Rotation to look like this: Z Zito Prior Marmol Marshall Ummmm...Okay I can deal with that. That Zito guy has a bit of talent doesn't he?
  4. I think lost in all of this is that Barrett called a really great game for the Kid. Really mixed it up nicely...

  6. We have always done well in the system with pitchers, once they get to the big legues though Dusty likes to destroy their arms. Who's arm has dusty destroyed? Wood, Prior, Fox off the top of my head. EDIT: And then there was the time he accidentally used Bobby Brownlie's ligaments as catfish bait.... Wood and Prior? First off Wood has been destroyed since highschool, and as far as I know Prior has never had surgery right? Also is Running into Giles or taking a line drive off the elbow is Dusty's fault? In 2003 Wood's arm was fine that year coupled with 04 and the pitcher abuse he put on Kerry have essentially ended his career. Pitcher abuse crap proves nothing! I'm sick of all that talk. Power pitchers get hurt...From Beckett to Burnett to Ben Sheets. Every pitcher is different. Right and when abused they are more likely to get hurt. You people are talking 2003! Three years ago! Let it go. Believe what you want to believe.
  7. Marmol look good...REAL GOOD! Great job so far.

  10. Man Pierre is just brutal! I can't understand why he won't take a pitch? Also he needs to choke up on the bat and get more control.
  11. I honestly don't expect much. Reds can flat out hit fastballs no matter how hard the kid throws. This we'll be interesting.
  12. It's past struggling to flat out sucking! What happened to this guy? You would think he would at least try to take some pitches and get a walk. Terrible
  13. Why does Pierre even bother to bunt? I mean it's always giving the team an easy out to start the game. I'd rather him just leave the bat on his shoulder and hopefully get a walk...
  14. Anything wrong with Ram?? We do have a day off tomorrow, so it can't be a rest day.
  15. It's time for Hill to step it up in the bigs. He has nothing left to prove in the Minors. It's amazing how he can flat out dominate AAA and flat out get blown out in the Majors. How does he just lose control in the majors? Has anyone actually seen him pitch for Iowa? If so does his mechanics look different? Is his approach dif.? Kids a mystery.
  16. Do you have any proof to back that up? One could just as easily say that Maddux keeps Wood and Prior injured - these shenanigans began in 2004, when the Cubs signed him, after all. I only go by what young kids like Marshall seems to say about him. Regardless if you have a young staff it'll be wise to have a veteren presence and I can't of any better then Maddux. Fine. Sign Maddux as pitching coach. Problem solved. The problem with that is Maddux is still playing...
  17. Seems like some of Cubs fans have been saying this for the past 2 years. If Maddux wants to be traded then trade him other wise Keep him.

  19. WALK OFF GRANNY FOR COLVIN!
  20. If we are going to go with young arms next year I for one hope we sign Maddux again for next year. I think he keeps the kids stable.
  21. Last year in the pen he was still pitching 97-98 MPH. This year he's been at around 90-91. That's not going to cut it in the pen. i thought he was throwing it 94-95 a few outings ago?? since he's starting, he may be trying to conserve himself. put him in the pen and he can air it out for an inning. He was having trouble pitching 90 in his last start.
  22. What do you think the chances are that Wood goes to the Yankees as a FA, they give him a two-year deal, and it turns into gold for both parties? I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if he went anywhere else next year and was healthy. They way this Org. been going the past couple of years I wouldn't be surprised if he won a Cy Young wearing Cardinal Red. Typing that just made me sick!
  23. Could not agree with you more. I'm not shocked nor am I bummed. I'm glad we will be without Wood starting next year. Time to move on already! So let's see next years staff so far. Z Prior (we'll see) Marshall MARMOL!!! Everything else looks up in the air. Fixed. Hey, I can hope can't I? Marmol or Guzman or even Hill (if he ever over his fear of the Major Leagues)....
