  1. I agree Tim. I was attacked all because I was alarmed at Jackson K rate.
  2. Rizz and Vitters in the same lineup. Cool.
  3. Fair enough.
  4. A little off topic what kind of manager is Ventura? He seems that kind of guy, but I don't follow them to know. Just curious....
  5. This year besides reading the box scores of the minors and majors on a daily basis, no.
  6. I'd be surprised if he sees game time, unless it's an emergency. Yeah, like fanning the flames of a fire or something.
  7. Well said, but if it was seen as a fluke last year, I hope it still just a fluke this year.
  8. Good god. It's a pissy comment is all.
  9. What did I say that was false? At this point it might be easier to list what you said that wasn't. And I wouldn't hang my hat on being kind of technically right, on accident, once, either. Whatever the case his K rate is going up per year. Is him being in the MLB going to fix that? We'll see...
  10. 2012 - 158K Games 148 (so far) 2011 - 138K Games 115 2010 - 126K Games 128 Jackson has only played 109 games this year. That changes the comparison significantly. Here are his strikeout rates at all the full season leagues: A-25.0% High A-20.1% Double A-24.2% Triple A-32.5% So it really skyrocketed when he hit AAA. And he was even worse this season than it was in his half season last year. I read the stat 2012 wrong. I combined the last part of 2011. Duh. So it goes up when he faces better competition. Isn't that worrisome?
  11. To be fair, most mid-season prospect rankings had dropped Brett entirely from the top 100, so C.C. is kind of right since we were talking about where he was rated "most recently." CC had no idea he'd been ranked #32 as of the start of this year. He also had no idea where he'd been ranked mid-season. The complete lack of knowledge was the point of the post. So what? Do you have to know a player ranking to judge them? Why do you put so much faith in what BA ranks a player? It has less to do with the specific ranking and more with you saying false things because you don't know what you're talking about. What did I say that was false?

  14. Jackson needs a lot of time to work on his issues, no point in overanalyzing each game at a time. It's a game thread. You analyze one game at a time.
  15. Over and under on Jackson K's if he starts. I'm feeling a good game from him with 1 K. just a feeling.
  16. I thought his ranking dropped. But I don't check rankings that often. Then your post about him not being lauded by anyone other than Cubs fans was just lazy on your part. You can do better. nope. Read the other posts. They did drop him recently. So I wasn't wrong. Plus, you don't have to look at rankings to see players stats. Edit: And I expect a apology on the lazy part.

  18. lauded - past participle, past tense of laud Verb: Praise highly, esp. in a public context. Baseball America had him in the top 100 for 2010, 2011, and 2012 - most recently #32. Must be some other Brett Jackson. i'm shocked he was ranked that high most recently.
  19. Well define lauded. I think anyone that had a clue knew when he was brought up his flaws in the minors was just going to get worse when he's facing better talent.
  20. I kind of expect someone lauded as a great prospect not to strike out 7 of 8 times. He wasn't lauded. Well, only by Cubs fans.
  21. Not sure what people expected. He struck out in the minors a ton and it'll be the same if not worse in the majors.
  22. I don't get what you are saying. They were brought up to lose games?
  23. Well, if you buy into the idea that there are only two types of pitchers - those who have had TJS and those who are going to have it - then you would feel pretty good that Vizcaino has it behind him already. And if you believe we should tank until 2015 like some do, then it's fine that Garza may eventually need TJS since he'll have 2.5 years to have the surgery and recover from it before we try to compete again. In seriousness, though, I'm not despairing over Garza's injury yet. I'm concerned, but I at least have confidence that this front office won't be reckless with him. And with the success rate of TJS, I'm not all that concerned about Vizcaino. So build a staff around those who had TJS and future pitchers that will? Depressing.
  24. What's the point of protecting him? If they don't trust him to be an everyday player why bring him up. Let him work it out in AAA.
