  1. 2.5M for a top 10 offensive 2B (higher if adjusted for PA) is a no brainer. I'll lose his 7-10 defensive runs and still take him.
  2. Macias - 8 pitches (3AB, 0-3) Neifi - 6 pitches (3AB, 0-3)
  3. Matt Clement is pitching the ugliest 4 innings of no hit baseball I've ever seen - 4 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER , 6 BB, 4 K, 84 pitches, 44 strikes/40 balls
  4. Yeah. Rub it in on those of us with idiotic cable companies that don't give us Comcast. Don't have cable - MLB.TV :)
  5. At least Z only threw 94 pitches - Mother Nature does what Dusty cannot - protect a young arm. Cubs trail 7-3, Z with 6 ER... ...highlight of this game was the replay of Glenallen Hill's homerun to the building!
  6. The Giambino strikes out with 2 outs bases loaded in the 8th, Yanks trail 7-4 to Toronto :D
  7. Nomar just realized it wasn't Clemens on the mound. Psst, tell the rest of the team.
  8. I'm almost hoping the White Sox win it all so Ozzie does retire.
  9. Who turned out the lights?
  10. Carpenter was rocked 5.1IP, 9ER Brewers lead 9-6 in the 6th. Phillies come from behind and win with 5 ninth innning runs, 11-10. 1 game back of Astros.
  11. Un-Cy like Carpenter line against the Brewers: 5.1IP 12H 9R 9ER 2.71 ERA (1 runner left on scored) Willis is closing...
  12. That's what I've wanted for a while now. If you have a 40 man roster and you're out of the playoffs there is no reason your franchise starters should throw more than 100 pitches. I couldn't agree more. It is unconscionable that Prior was allowed to throw 120 pitches in a meaningless game yesterday. In 2005, the most abused pitchers (from BP's metric awarding points for # pitches thrown after 100, 110, 122, 133) are: 1. Livan Hernandez 2. Carlos Zambrano 3. Mark Prior THIS IS NOT THE LIST I WANT MY YOUNG PHENOMS TO LEAD! _______________ 2004 saw Carlos #3, and Wood #16. (Thankfully, Prior's 21 GS limited him to the top 50). _______________ 2003 was a banner year with a division title and 3 of the top 10 overworked pitchers in the game: 2. Wood 4. Prior 10. Zambrano It is true that all pitchers are not the same, and some - like Hernandez - can be flogged and never die, but in Prior and Zambrano we are talking about pitchers leading the league in stress at 22, 23, 24 years old. This cannot be good. Dusty has to go. If he too is to blame, Rothschild has to go. Someone stop the madness - this is the future of this team and it can quickly become more bleak.
  13. Murton just passed Neifi in VORP 13.3 to 13.1, in 445 fewer PA. Next up Zambrano at #6. Murton is now #17 in VORP for MLB among rookie position players. He is also 1st among rookies in VORP(rate) for players with 100 PA - just AHEAD of Jeff Francoeur. While I'm not ready to anoint him the next big thing, he's been very productive.
  14. Cleveland at White Sox, all games 7:05 CDT Monday: Millwood (8-11, 3.02) vs. Garcia (12-8, 3.96) Tuesday: Westbrook (15-14, 4.56) vs Buehrle (15-8, 3.21) Wednesday: Elarton (10-7, 4.57) vs Garland (17-9, 3.41) White Sox send their 3 best starters against 1,4,5 for Cleveland. VORP Comparisons, games started: Monday: Millwood (46.0, 27 GS) vs. Garcia (46.7, 29 GS) Tuesday: Westbrook (13.6, 31 GS) vs Buehrle (45.9, 30 GS) Wednesday: Elarton (16.4, 28 GS) vs Garland (38.9, 30 GS)
  15. Thanks!
  16. Z is impressive (and has nearly eclipsed Neifi in offensive value), but I think Marquis still gets the nod for best hitting pitcher this year - .321/.329/.481
  17. Looks like .368. That's super high, but it could come down 40 points or so and Murton would still be productive since he's still got a very high AVG overall. I know that in his early playing time he had a fair # of infield & dropped in the sun hits - his power seems genuine though! (BTW, where can I find batter BABIP?)
  18. I realize this deviates from the "if only pitcher A had pitcher B's run support", but for reference...if you exclude actual variable run support and look only at pitching lines - Expected record for the pitcher, based on how often pitchers with the same innings pitched and runs allowed earned a win or loss historically. Records 'should' be (actual): Zambrano 13-9 (13-5) Maddux 11-12 (12-13) Prior 11-6 (10-7) Rusch 5-7 (5-6) For reference, using the above, your MLB leaders should be: Carpenter @ 17-7 Willis @ 17-8 Clemens @ 16-5
  19. Amen. I thought sanity might reign when Dusty came for the hook in the 9th - but, then he let Zambrano get the glory and top the 120 pitch mark, again. Unconscionable.
  20. 1st multi-hit game since 9/2. Only his 3rd multi-hit game since coming back in August.
  21. Jeter strikes out looking with the tying run at 2nd as the Yankees fall 6-5 to the Jays.
  22. And a Carpenter loss was one of the only good things left about this game. (Especially/because of Carlos).
  23. 3 (called strike, called strike, fly to right) Does anybody know Neifi's average P/PA this year ? It's very low, like one of the worst in the league(of people with X amount of PAs). I think 5th worst, it was in some article that someone referenced #224 of 229 in the MLB w/100+ PA @ 3.26 pitches/PA Though, to be fair - (and it's what you do with the pitches, too) Nomar is #220.
