    36 and probably better than Dempster. Dempster has been better than Lowe statistically each of the past two seasons. How is Lowe probably better? Because I don't believe that was the real Dempster last year. And I'd be willing to bet that Lowe's numbers this year end up better than Dempsters.

    Dempster has been better than Lowe this year. And it's not even close. But I still would've signed Lowe. He might be the perfect Wrigley pitcher. Dempster's better than Lowe, Lowe's older, and signed for more money. Of course you take Derek Lowe. Is Dempster really better than Lowe?

    Come on, we lost our two best pitchers and our best hitter. How the Cards doing if they lose Carp and Wainwright and Pujols? Those three are better than anyone on our team. And didn't Carp miss like a month this season?

    Well, he can't really hit either. Riiiiiiiiiiiight Yeah this crap is absurd. Soriano has never, ever hit in his career. Every year it seems like he's about .220 with 19 homers. Plus he eats kittens. Or maybe he's not very good anymore and this is about what we can expect from here on out. .230/.300/430

    I've got a pretty good idea what happened after he got dropped off at the the strip club. I'm betting he scored two kinds of blow that night.

    pretty true, no one would want him I do....he's better than Fontenot....which isn't sayin much He's not even close to being better than Fontenot.

    He is in a situation where you need a good defensive catcher. Fox dropped a called strike 3. That tells you something about his catching abilities. I don't want him behind the plate when Marmol pitches. I'm with Mojo on this, Fox should not be catching a major league game, at least not starting. Why do people continue to bring up the dropped third strike? It was one pitch. It hardly makes a case for him not to be catching more. He made an error at third but people were dying for him to play while Ramirez was out.

    You know I thought so as well, but it seemed like Lou made up his mind to put the squeeze on before Fontenot's AB. If that was the case, you want to bring a good bunter to the plate, hence Fontenot instead of Fox. Sure, he could have used Blanco but that would have just been too obvious he was going for the squeeze. Fontenot had a perfect pitch to bunt and he just missed it. He deserves more of the blame than Lou. Why? It's always easier to call for something like that than execute it. If it succeeds I guarantee Lou gets most of the credit for being brilliant. It was still bases loaded with a guy who isn't a huge bunter (0 sac bunts this year, just 4 in his major league career) and a pitcher who was throwing the ball all over the place. I doubt Lou really cares about being called brilliant. He was trying to win the game. Like I said Fontenot was basically the last chance to get a run in and from the looks of it Lou didn't have much confidence in him to do that. He thought the squeeze was the best chance to win the game. But the argument is, it might not have been the best chance to win the game. I understand. I'm just adding that i doubt Lou wanting to take credit for being brilliant factored into the decision. I'm not even sure if Gooney was saying that. I'll stop typing now.

    The squeeze was idiotic. If Fontenot makes contact with a Valverde fastball (which he did), the run scores, game over. The only time I'd squeeze is with Andres Blanco/Ryan Theriot up, 1 out, and the pitcher on deck. Otherwise, it has no place in the Cubs offense. I didn't have a problem with the squeeze. If he gets it down it's game over. Nobody saw it coming. Also, Fontenot was basically the last chance to score in that inning. Reed Johnson was not going to get a hit against Valverde.
