  1. That's two games in row something like that has happened with the fake bunt stealing of 3rd yesterday and now this.
  2. Not to mention that the NCAA cleared him to play before the season.
  3. Equating skirting the rules with paying people off is sort of what I'm getting at. They're pretty different but you conflate them all the time. Even Tim seems to think that USC was ever accused of paying Reggie Bush off. That's not even remotely accurate, btw. It's just a lot easier to say Calipari is sleazy because he pays is players under the table then it is to actually know the facts.
  4. There is. I'd be willing to bet though that if you're a fan of Illinois basketball you'd be just as for him going there and bringing Brandon Knight and some other top recruits with him. Maybe i'm wrong though. You're wrong. I don't want Illinois basketball to get the death penalty Last time i checked UMASS and Memphis were still playing.
  5. If the plan was to give Ryno a couple months to prove he's no good and then move on to better options, sure, why not. But it seems as though Ricketts really likes the idea of having a Cubs legend manage the Cubs, so they aren't going to set him up to fail. And it's not a definite that he would fail. He can't be worse than Lou and Lou did manage a team that won 95 games two years ago. Sure he may be a little old school in his philosophy but I'll gladly sacrifice a few sac bunts here and there for someone with any type of clue on how to manage a pitching staff.

  7. So it's hypocritical to criticize him for paying college kids under the table, whereas not feeling that paying guys in the pros is okay? I'm pretty sure he's never been accused of paying college kids under the table. Well, no, he's not writing checks out of his personal bank account. I'm not trying to say that Calipari is clean. I doubt there's a huge percentage of college coaches that are clean. The point is though that Calipari's and w.w. wes's relationship is not against NCAA rules. Shady yes, but not illegal. And it would be just as shady of a relationship in the NBA. It's easy to sit on your high horse and condemn teams that Cal coaches for selling their souls. I just find it funny that now Bulls fans are willing to do the same thing. And trust me I'm not judging. Bulls fans should want Calipari even if there's a 50% chance Lebron is coming with him.

  9. I hope those of you that are on board for Cal because of the WW Wes and Lebron connections are not the same people that have been calling him a slimeball in the college basketball threads. It seems really hypocritical to bash him for being bad for college basketball. Then also bash the schools that hire him for basically selling out and looking the other way while he works his "recruiting magic" now just to turn around and want him because of those same connections.
  10. Should've said hits them well not better.
  11. dempster had thrown like 400 pitches today. he gave up 2 hits in the inning and only hadn't given up the tying run already because of bad baserunning/good defense. marshall is good, regardless of the fact that he's a lefty. it was a stupid move. The percentage move was still Dempster. He owned Votto up until that point and like I said a lefty has no special advantage against Votto.
  12. Votto hits lefties better than righties.
  13. I don't think batting him 8th is the worst thing in the world. It's not like he has a problem swinging at junk and strking out a ton. I doubt minor league pitchers were just grooving fastballs to him.
  14. it decreases every day he's down though. part of the issue is him not being settled into an everyday role by the time his options are up. I feel pretty confident they're not calling him up to sit him. That'd be like moving your best starter to middle relief, or batting your best on base guy 8th. Come on guys, give them the benefit of the doubt.
  15. I don't see this as striclty a panic move. Fontenot has sucked for quite a while now and your top prospect is beating the cover off the ball in AA. What's the point in waiting another two months before calling him up? If he's as good as people think he is what's another 200 minor league at bats?
  16. Please tell me there's no way Lou puts Castro at 2B to begin with. Like he did when Cedeno was getting playing time.
  17. I wanna say the following season they had some key injuries and got off to a horrible start and they fired him faily quickly.
  18. And this new contract extension is strictly a PR move by Kentucky. There's nothing that will prevent him from taking another job.
  19. Holy hell would I love to see Kentucky fans' reactions if Cal leaves.
  20. This is actually pretty far from the truth. Cal runs a fairly complex dribble drive motion offense. No, he's right. Calipari is pretty much a strategical nitwit. Nick's not rational about Calipari. I'm really not. I may be in love with that man.

  22. Are there many similarities between Coleman and Rany Wells? Without knowing much about Coleman, he looks to be putting up the same type of lines Wells was putting up the few years before he was called up.
