  1. It was a little over a year ago when NSBB's best and brightest we're hoping he had some shred of trade value left. horsefeathers that. I was always a believer. Yeah, Tim and I love our toolsy shortstops. I'm still waiting for Junior Lake to take his turn as an all star.
  2. Montgomery, but he already warmed up a few times and I miss sure they'd like to stay away from him. Not sure who else. I think Grimm gets another inning here.

  4. This isn't over yet. If we have to make a 9th inning comeback, the guys coming up next inning are exactly the ones I want to see.
  5. Just like in game 1, I'm assuming our best chance is against the bullpen. So I'm keeping a close eye on Bumgarner's pitch count tonight. 15 pitches in the first isn't great, but it isn't bad either.
  6. Did they ever actually officially announce Bumgarner for game 4? I know everybody is expecting it, but at one point they were talking about letting Moore have game 3 and MadBum game 4.
  7. Wow. Samardzija is out after 2 IP. I can't see that as being worth it. Shark wasn't pitching well, but even if Blanco hit a 2 R HR, that's probably not going to cover that gap between Shark and their awful bullpen.
  8. Shark up to 37 pitches with just 1 out in the 2nd. This will be a short night for him.
  9. Javier Baez took the first walk of the 2016 Cubs postseason. Baseball is a funny sport.
  10. Tin-foil thought. What if Heyward's regular season struggles were just an act planned by Theo and Hoyer to make teams overconfident against him in the postseason?
  11. I don't feel nearly as nervous tonight as I did yesterday. I guess an early lead will do that.
  12. Cubs starting lineup 2016 wRC+: Bryant - 149 Rizzo - 145 Fowler - 129 Contreras - 126 Zobrist - 124 Russell - 95 Baez - 94 Heyward - 72 Heyward is better than he was this season (career wRC+ of 111), and he bats lefthanded. So I understand moving him up a bit. But I'm just not feeling the decision to have Contreras batting 8th. He should be in that 4-5-6 range, not 8th.
  13. Cueto is up to 89 pitches through 6. They've made him work for it. We are gonna get an opportunity or two against the Giants bullpen.
  14. Yeah. I got 100% on my first try. OF - Red Sox IF - Cubs C - Posey DH - Ortiz SP - Cubs RP - Indians
  15. Apparently Barry Bonds got fired as the hitting coach for the Marlins. Kinda surprising. Yelich, Realmuto, Ozuna, Dietrich, Bour all improved pretty substantially this year. And Ichiro and Prado saw their production jump back up a notch too. Stanton was injured, so I don't know that you can blame Bonds for his issues. And Gordon and Hechavarria both had some expected regression, but I'm not sure you can blame Bonds for either of those. I thought he was doing a solid job there. Sounds like it may have been a personality conflict between him and Mattingly.
  16. Here's a short list of guys I totally forgot got some playing time with the Cubs this year: Ryan Kalish Jeimer Candelario Joe Nathan Neil Ramirez Brian Matusz Joel Peralta Gerardo Concepcion
  17. Not to be the typical atheist jerk, but the numbers claim intrigued me and I looked it up. He's definitely had a few harder hit home runs throughout the years. It only went a bit over 370 feet, and he once registered one in the 410-420 range in Colorado.
  18. Yeah, I'm pretty thrilled about this.
  19. I think McLeod is in a position where he should be able to pick his GM opportunity. He shouldn't be forced to take whatever job he can get -- he should be able to get one where he'll have a decent budget, some autonomy, and at least some talent already in place. I just didn't see the appeal of the Twins job for him.
  20. I'm really not sure how to react to this news, other than to say it really sucks. He was one of my favorites to watch.
