  1. I'm getting dragged out to celebrate my six-month wedding anniversary tomorrow night, so I will be stuck checking the game on my phone. Hoping for a good one though.
  2. Honestly, I think Joe nailed the managing for the most part. Pulling Lester was a tough call, but Jon was getting hit a bit harder than his results indicated. And with how solid our bullpen unit should be, it made sense to pull Lester and try to tack on a few runs. After he made that tough decision, I think he made exactly the same calls I would have made with respect to bullpen management and pinch hitters. I think the only place he got a bit surprised was in the 8th when Roberts walked Coghlan to load the bases. I'm guessing Maddon would have swapped in Montero and Coghlan in reverse order if he knew that would be the case. But it was a risky play on Roberts' part, and it didn't pay off for him.
  3. I would assume the Cubs make him follow the team around in case an injury strikes and they have to change their roster.
  4. This is nuts. I love baseball.
  5. He's not that non-descript. His wRC+ ranked 4th in baseball, right between Joey Votto and Josh Donaldson. Dude can rake. He's got great bat-to-ball skills and power to go with it, even if his plate discipline is lackluster. And his fielding kinda sucks. Vintage Aramis Ramirez at 2B for a comp?
  6. It was a little over a year ago when NSBB's best and brightest we're hoping he had some shred of trade value left. horsefeathers that. I was always a believer. Yeah, Tim and I love our toolsy shortstops. I'm still waiting for Junior Lake to take his turn as an all star.
  7. Montgomery, but he already warmed up a few times and I miss sure they'd like to stay away from him. Not sure who else. I think Grimm gets another inning here.

  9. This isn't over yet. If we have to make a 9th inning comeback, the guys coming up next inning are exactly the ones I want to see.
  10. Just like in game 1, I'm assuming our best chance is against the bullpen. So I'm keeping a close eye on Bumgarner's pitch count tonight. 15 pitches in the first isn't great, but it isn't bad either.
  11. Did they ever actually officially announce Bumgarner for game 4? I know everybody is expecting it, but at one point they were talking about letting Moore have game 3 and MadBum game 4.
  12. Wow. Samardzija is out after 2 IP. I can't see that as being worth it. Shark wasn't pitching well, but even if Blanco hit a 2 R HR, that's probably not going to cover that gap between Shark and their awful bullpen.
  13. Shark up to 37 pitches with just 1 out in the 2nd. This will be a short night for him.
  14. Javier Baez took the first walk of the 2016 Cubs postseason. Baseball is a funny sport.
  15. Tin-foil thought. What if Heyward's regular season struggles were just an act planned by Theo and Hoyer to make teams overconfident against him in the postseason?
  16. I don't feel nearly as nervous tonight as I did yesterday. I guess an early lead will do that.
