  1. I really don't see the Cubs trying to pull off tandem starters in the bigs, no matter how much sense it might make.
  2. Ouch. About as good news as we could expect from the Cashner situation. Wells kinda came from nowhere though. While I might be inclined to go with McNutt and Cabrera as our #4 and #5 starters (because I'm just crazy like that), I'd bet we will end up with Coleman and either Mathes or Russell.
  3. I wouldn't wish Hrabosky on my worst enemy.
  4. Just because I enjoy being difficult... As Cubs fans, we should all endeavor to remember that Tinker and Evers didn't talk to each other for thirty three years (seven on field with the Cubs) as a result of a fistfight. They're both in the Hall of Fame now. Furthermore, that happened at the end of 1905. Remember our record in 1906? 116-36. That's good for a .763 winning percentage, highest of all time. Oh, and we went to the world series the next 3 years, including our last two wins. Proof positive that getting our players pissed off at each other is the only way for the Cubs to succeed.
  5. Doom and gloom much? it's just too obvious Deep breaths. You'll get through this.
  6. Colvin doesn't look like he's gonna be an awful backup at 1B. He hasn't had to dig any throws out of the dirt today though.
  7. .196 BABIP last year. He's about the easiest candidate for a bounceback in the entire league.
  8. No [expletive] injury threads.
  9. 5th. He did pretty well given the circumstances.
  10. Damn. Oh well, two run lead. Let's hope Russell can get through the 8th.
  11. Hard to get excited about it when apparently he has said he doesn't like to walk (don't have a quote on it... heard it somewhere along the way in the ~50 hrs of sports radio I hear a week). Even if he's just taking pitches for the sole purpose of finding a good pitch to hit, I'm fine with that.
  12. Soriano coming up with the bases juiced, and then it's the pitchers spot. Think Pena takes the at bat if we make it there?
  13. Colvin has been really patient today. Love seeing that.
  14. Yeah, Mateo was getting squeezed. I'm not ready to throw in the towel on him and Russell just yet.
  15. Marshall didn't pitch on Sunday so he's only thrown 6 pitches in the last 2 days. He'll be available for a while if the Cubs need. From what Quade said about yesterday's game, he was planning to pitch Mateo/Grabow/Marshall today anyway. Glad to hear I'm mistaken.
  16. Well, I'd have to imagine Wood and Marmol are unavailable today. Marshall had a shortened outing yesterday, but it was his third day in a row as well. Looks like this is up to Samardzija, Russell, Mateo, and Grabow.
