  1. Trade the following Jones Aram Pierre Prior Walker Rusch Dempster Cut the Following Neifi Bynum Pagan Womack Bring up some kids MOST OF ALL FIRE DUSTY!
  2. as un professional as it sounds. they are coming back from injuries and the team will not make the playoffs, perhaps they think "why should we even try, whats the point"
  3. I mean those were the 2 worst in recent memory, this team looks worse. too bad tickets are non-refundable. I feel totally scammed by the cubs.
  4. I'm convinced, Zambrano is the best young pitcher in baseball. Durable, striking out more. he is a beast. About the kids, give them time, they all have slumps watching the june performances and how they adapt to MLB scouting reports will tell us if they are budding everyday players or bench material.
  5. Yeah I 2nd the walk with power motion, we need more guys getting the pimp stroll on when walking to 1st to show the power. seriously though, as much as I like hendry, as much as I want to blame lee, wood, prior injuries for the current situation, while murton and cedeno are great at getting on base and making contact. As many have said we needed that one extra power bat for RF and in my opinion the JJ thing was the downfall to the offense this year. Pierre I can live with, at least when he gets on base he can steal. Cedeno and Murton are just fine Aram is off to a slow start, he will eventually get back on track. but we need 1 more threat to go yard at any given at bat. ..... at least look at it this way if we win in 2007, at least we won the series on the 100 year anniversary of our last one.
  6. why don't the cubs get a collective of doom sayers to be gm? we would win then
  7. I have for one, while trying to be optimistic during the offseason has always thought this team here is just not up to snuff. Why must us cubbie fans who love the team and goto 12-20 games a season suffer with this crud? God we need something, like an offense .
  8. i dunno which but he is pitching good!
  9. thats classic..... the psych charge
  10. Well say what you want too, but my opinion is that he must have done something in the offseason. he didn't put a string of outings like these together in a long time, even if its the beginning of the season and batters are still rusty. Hopefully Z will get back on track prior and wood will return to form(healthy) and having maddux as a 4th would be tremendous
  11. I read about how he was training a lot in the offseason. He is determined to be a stud when he retires! He is pitching great, when wood/prior/miller come, think about this staff in the down the stretch and in playoffs if they are healthy Prior/Zambrano/Wood/Miller/Maddux. I hope Carlos gets back on track.
  12. The team this year is not going to be anything special barring a couple fluke years or absolutely amazing performances by the young guys. That said, 85 wins would be lucky
  13. We can see if the hyped up Hill, Guzman, Marshall and camp can do something special for us. Perhaps they will surprise, perhaps they will fail. Anyways it will be fun to watch!
  14. 5hr's so far... if he comes over, i wonder where he will go
  15. Has anyone been to some games down there? Just by looking at the limited stats, it looks like Murton got started hot and cedeno cold, wonder what they're ST will look like come three weeks from now. Anyone see something they like at the games?
  16. Blame that on boras and hendry
  17. I have gotten crap from my Sox friend fans ever since that WS win. I'll tell you as a die hard cubbie fan that Williams deserves credit. Anyways lets hope the cubs can win, so we dont have to hear that crap from the sox fans in chicago at work
  18. i would not be surprised to see hendry pull off another blockbuster come deadline time with all the FA in '06 offseason
  19. Chances are that Hildalgo and J Gone's ability diminished greatly since the steriod testing came to play. That said, I wouldn't touch either because we know it will block Murton. Dusty will play the Vets. If we had a smart manager who platooned either with jones, then it may be a different story.
  20. Wasn't that the game where he gave up a grand slam to maybe J.D. Drew? If I remember correctly, the Cubs were down big and came back and won that game. You're thinking of Felix Sanchez on September 3, 2003. One of the most exciting regular season Cubs game I've ever seen. Or rather, would have seen if I didn't chuck my hat at the TV before turning it off. I listened in over the internet as they won 8-7. A little off topic but, what ever happened to Felix Sanchez? I honestly dont remember, traded prolly.
  21. I haven’t read the post but here goes my lineup for the 2006 cubbies. 1. Pierre CF 2. Hairston 2b 3. Lee 1b 4. Ramirez 3 5. Jones RF 6. Murton LF 7. Barrett C 8. Cedeno SS My reasoning behind this is that, Walker may get moved, I don’t want Perez in there. Also Hairston has the better skill set the speed / defense type set that the team is looking for. Walker’s defense is serviceable, but as many have said he is not that great with the DP and has weak range. If everything goes well, there can be some speedsters all over the lineup with Cedeno 8th Pierre 1st and Hairston 2nd
  22. Ill shoot for Hoops :D :cough: The cubs are reportedly close to a deal which would send 2b Todd Walker, starter Jerome Williams, and Matt Murton to Philadelphia for Slugger Bobby Abreu :D I dunno I'm needy for another hoops prediction myself, ignore my silly speculations
  23. Clemens in a Ranger's uni would be interesting. Having Picked up Millwood and Clemens (if so) they might just have enough pitching to make a wildcard run.
  24. I didn't bother reading the whole thread but I like this signing. Does anyone else think that if we end up with a log jam come June with a surprisedly healthy lot of Wood, Prior, Miller, Williams, Maddux, Zambrano, and Rusch that we will have some very very very good bargaining chips for a midseason offensive upgrade? After all that is what Hendry has shown his best at, mid season deals.
  25. Luck will play a role as always
