    For some reason, I was getting no commercials at all between innings, just fast cuts. Now commercials in the middle of the 3rd. Bottom 2nd: Allen CF 2-base error on Jake Fox in LF, ball bounces off his glove Paul CF 3 unassisted (though the ball bounced & hit Dopirak in the chest), runner to 3B Raglani LF K called on a 3-2 pitch! Ellis C 1-3 on a tough dribbler on the grass between 3rd & home Top 3rd: Cates - Simokaitis - Gallagher go in order Elbert has retired 9 Smokies in a row.

    Smokies Lineup Chris Walker CF Spearman RF Jake Fox LF Craig 3B Dopirak 1B Robinson C Cates 2B Simokaitis SS Gallagher P One complete in Jacksonville, no score. Smokies went 1-2-3 in the 1st. Gallagher with a K and a BB. He got squeezed on a 2-2 pitch on the batter that ended up with the BB!

    The game thread forum is for people to react to the moment-by-moment game developments. Cubs fans get passionate about what happens during games and that's reflected in the threads. The game threads certainly aren't for everyone ... and over-reactions and hyperbole can run rampant here. We just ask that people keep it civil even while venting. As UMFan notes, the more nuanced discussions and debates are found in the other forums. I'm not sure what integrity has to do with posting here, but maybe I'm just missing something.

    Just fyi ... a lot of the post-game discussion goes on in the game thread. Marquis did well today.

    As has been endlessly mentioned in the broadcasts, these first month's games are almost entirely within the division. You can't afford to give away games to division opponents due to mental errors and expect to win the division.

    Huh, I predicted 4 more wins than UMFan in the Predictions Contest, and I felt I was being optimistic at 82.

    Then people would have been complaining that Piniella is wearing down our starting pitiching. I won't complain if Marquis pitches into the 8th or 9th (I hope that comes up a lot this season). Wasn't he hired to be an innings eater?
