  1. Mick just called the 2-rbi triple for Jacksonville "controversial" -- OK, now he said it was a line drive to RF that hit off Kroeger's glove, then rolled all the way past him to the wall. The Suns score another run in the 4th on a single, BB, and seeing-eye single. Runners at 2nd & 3rd (advanced on a throwing error on Walker), no one out. Bullpen up. 3-0 Suns
  2. Dopirak with another single *scorched* up the middle. He's 2-2 so far.
  3. Derek: The ump must not be a Notre Dame fan! Daytona hasn't had a hit yet, but Adduci was robbed of a hit that was scored an error last inning. Will Inman is pitching for the Manatees & has been sharp.
  4. You can email Derek during the broadcast at daytonacubsradio@yahoo.com.
  5. No score through 2 in Brevard County. Matt Craig made a very nice play in the bottom of the 2nd to prevent a hit.
  6. Huh. Apparently the Tennessee Vols game was supposed to be broadcast instead of the Smokies, but the Vols game was snowed out ... so we get The Don! after all.
  7. Welcome to the forums, JenksFan5! Just so you know, that game is 6pm CT / 7pm ET ... so it will be getting underway in half an hour or so. He'll be pitching against the Brevard County Manatees -- the Brewers' FSL team.
  8. Do you use the shuttle on Addison (remote lot is DeVry) or the one on Bellmont (by Western)? DeVry. For day games I sometimes use the Irving Park lot under the El that the Cubs have leased. It's a 3 -4 block walk to Wrigley.
  9. I live in NW Indiana and end up driving to Cubs games 90% of the time. For night games, the shuttle lot is great. I've never had the shuttle take 45 minutes in transit to/from Wrigley and the lot ... I guess I've either been lucky or you've been unlucky. I've used it probably 20 times.
  10. The scoreboard makes noise? I've had seats right under the thing and have no idea what you're talking about. They had occasional problems with the scoreboard buzzing in '03 & '04 -- the hitter's count display would get hung up on a certain count, I think it was changing from ball 2 to ball 3, and that caused a buzzing -- but that has been fixed for at least a year or two. They upgraded the sound system in the bleachers during renovation to the point where Al Yellon had constant complaints last year about the PA system being too loud. Pathetic? It's the easiest to read in MLB precisely because it isn't overloaded with trivial information and advertising. I've never had a problem following the game at Wrigley due to scoreboard issues, but I've noticed that fans of other teams are much more used to relying on the scoreboard to figure out substitutions, etc.
  11. They team up to fight crime and defeat evil -- so we all win!
  12. Why, man, he doth bestride the narrow world Like a Colossus, and we petty men Walk under his huge legs and peep about To find ourselves dishonourable graves. The Daytona News-Journal will sell you prints of the photo.
  13. That 6-1 K-BB is great, especially after his control problems at West Tenn last season. That one BB *should* have been a called K on the 2-2 pitch. O:) The one out that Dopirak made was the hardest ball he hit -- he was robbed of an XBH by a very nice OF running catch.
  14. As in we sweep them or they sweep us? That's the beauty of it - he's hedging his bets and not saying We can criticize him for unwarranted optimism AND pessimism!
  15. Smokies win 3-1!!! They're the first team in the SL to win a game.
  16. Adalberto Mendez in to pitch the bottom of the 9th for the Smokies. Leadoff solo shot to Dunlap makes it 3-1 Smokies.
  17. 3-0 Smokies to the bottom of the 8th. Chris Walker made a great running catch in CF in the bottom of the 7th. Pigantiello is pitching his second inning of relief. Sorry, I've had to send a few faxes, which interfered with the play-by-play. 3-0 Smokies to the 9th!!
  18. NSBB shoutout from Mick! Thanks! He said that they don't keep a running count in Jacksonville, but they do at the home park, so he'll provide it during home games. He noted that Ron Potesta is reknowned throughout the SL and beyond for keeping a running count while doing all of his other broadcasting duties as well! :) Mick also said that Gallagher's change in speeds -- he was throwing FB, CH & CB tonight -- was "devastating!"
  19. Because the Rosenbloom blog/column was already being discussed in this thread, look back a couple of pages ... Daley's bias is being discussed as well.
  20. Those fielders must have been freezing their keisters off during the top half of the 1st!
  21. Bottom 6th in Jacksonville Dunlap 1B 1-3 McDougall 3B K on a filthy changeup -- fantastic pitch! K #6 Gallagher hits his pitch count and is being yanked 5.2 IPs, 0R/0ER, 4H, 6K/1BB, 8GO-4FO (I think) Of the 4 hits, there was 1 double and 2 IF singles. LHP Tim Layden in for the Smokies. Layden Ks Allen for the 3rd out. 3-0 Smokies through 6
  22. Top 6th in Jacksonville Spearman RF K (DNH) Fox LF Mick: they're not throwing Fox any fastballs K Craig 3B flyout to RF 3-0 Smokies to the bottom of the 6th
  23. Bottom 5th in Jacksonville Ellis C Made an out, DNH Elbert P broken bat flare single to CF runner at 1st Maza 2B K swinging Mick: Gallagher changing speeds well. Curveball during Maza's AB clocked in at 69mph. Hu SS flyout to short LF, Fox makes a running catch 3-0 Smokies through 5
