I was under the impression that Rothschild had been working with him over this past off-season. I'm wondering how much of this is endorsed by Rothschild.

Soriano prefaced his remarks by saying whatever Lou wanted him to do was fine with him. Soriano played LF previously and Lou has already talked with him once about whether moving back there would make him more comfortable. It's not like he volunteered to play 1B out of the blue to make room for his good buddy.
Since I think the quotes are open to interpretation -- and Soriano does say he'd be willing to move to LF or RF -- I changed the thread title. I think Soriano was just making it clear that he welcomes Pie to the team and is flexible to playing other OF positions if Piniella asks.
A statement so nice, it had to be said twice. I was at the game today. It was very cold and very long and the Cubs lost, but as we were talking afterwards, it was worth going just for seeing that throw during his debut game.
Welcome aboard, e2s! You can check the list on the first page to see when you're due up. Either I or someone else will PM you when you're on deck to start.
 He's bad out there, he doesn't look at all comfortable still, and at some point they can't risk having him run into walls, other players, and hurting himself diving into the turf.
Good point. But ... the group hitters are a limited category and someone could pick up ARod today whereas no one can pick up Kinsler until the All-Star break. The bottom line for me is -- if it's extra work for him to track down the top HR hitter who isn't a group hitter and who no one picked (and who can't be picked for another 3 months), then I'm not going to ask him to do so, since he's running enough of the stats already. But I will thank anyone who wants to keep track of it. :) eta: It would be less work as the season progressed, but we're still at the stage now where a Ryan Braun could be promoted and jump out to the lead in short order.
No one picked Kinsler this season, and people can only switch wildcards once over the all-star break. I think he's looking at 'perfect' within the NSBB populated wildcard universe. :)
