  1. Nope. Karros got injured in the playoffs against Atlanta. Robert Fick is the culprit.
  2. Edit: You are THE beer fetcher. :D
  3. Well, until the next ROOKIE who registers takes your place, why, yes, yes you are a beer fetcher. We reserve the right to haze our newbies. It's a longstanding ritual here. The good news is you'll be able to tell the next ROOKIE to get YOU a beer. :D
  4. I believe he only missed one start.
  5. Nomar blowing out his groin as he attempts to run to 1st base. Carlos Lee going spikes high on Todd Walker. Sammy Sosa's boombox mysteriously yet spontaneously combusting. Neifi Perez and his toothpick legs, healthy as a horse. I don't get it.
  6. Welcome, ROOKIE! Now, bring me a beer. :D
  7. Well, since they still let Barry Bonds wear body armor for a supposed injury from ions ago, I trust they'll now let Lee wear full on football gear when he takes the field from now on. :D
  8. I think the player the Cubs should be targeting is a guy who can play other positions besides 1st. When Lee comes back, that player needs to be able to do something other than just pinch hit since Lee pretty much plays everyday.
  9. Aardsma's breaking ball broke too soon, which gave Dodger hitters time to lay off. It had as much break as Williamson's breaking ball, but Williamson's broke later, which got the Dodger hitters to commit. His fastball was pretty much money. He was spotting it pretty well, also. Unfortunately, he had to rely on it too much because he couldn't rely on his breaking ball.
  10. Mabry can play a little 1b also. Gets an extra lefty bat in the line up. He was already out of the game tonight, so Walker was the only other option.
  11. More like Ronny Cedeno saved us. I heart Ronny. Neifi started the rally. Trust me. I was being sarcastic with the Neifi saved us comment. But, I'm happy he contributed to the Cubs come from behind win.
  12. Nice come back win. NEIFI SAVED US! Costly victory, however.
  13. Eyre day to day with a right knee contusion. X-rays on Lee are inconclusive. Flying back to Chicago for more testing. Sprained wrist likely.
  14. I didn't see it. Wishful thinking or honest opinion? A little bit of both. Lee really wanted to stay in the game. It took several minutes before they made the decision to pull him. If it was real bad, he would have been out of the game right away and headed for X-rays. Eyre, on the other hand, had some serious discomfort going on. I'm guessing groin strain, but it could be his back.
  15. Can someone who saw it please explain what happened to Lee and Eyre? Someone did just re-explain it just a few pages back.
  16. I'm going to guess that Lee has a slight sprain and should be ready on Friday. I'm going to guess that Eyre has a groin strain and will go on the DL.
  17. I have to admit, when Len said Repko tried to throw that one into the ocean, I laughed out loud.
  18. how on earth does a manager have another stick on the bench after 31 innings of baseball? You make a very interesting point. How does a team still have someone available on the bench after that many innings? And how bad must that player have been that the manager would wait 31 innings before giving him an opportunity to play? :D
  19. Yeah, I don't recall it ever being called Chavez Ravine. That's just the area the stadium sits. They did an awesome job putting in that stadium. I love how it's set up. I walked the whole park, bottom to top when I was there. You feel like you're on top of the world in the highest spot behind home plate.
  20. me on MLB.TV Ah. Okay. I thought it was a bit odd that some MLB EI people were listening to Len and Bob, while others are listening to Vin. I was hoping for Vin again tonight. Nothing against Len and Bob, it's just not all that often I find myself wanting to watch a Dodger game when the Cubs aren't playing.
  21. at night, the air sinks (flows downhill) in Chavez Revine. Its hard to hit a hr in the eveing there. during the day, as the heat rises from the LA basin, WHOLE nother story. think of it like Wrigley West Yeah, the patterns are kind of interesting. Just because this is a night game, it won't get dark until 8pm or so. And even then, the marine layer doesn't always settle in at dusk. Sometimes, it creeps in while it's still light out. But on a clear, sunny day, all bets are off on how many runs can score. It's interesting stuff, really.
